Wow! That Solid State Logic PureDrive Quad puts real pressure on the Neve 88M ... if sound quality, stability and driver performance are topnotch, Neve gotta have to rethink their take on this segment. And others as well - UAD, Antelope ... SSL seems to have made a bold move to take over the middle budget segment. I am not an audio pro, so please correct my impressions if I missed what's going on 🙂
We need SSL Big Six to have ADAT and or AES option, some of use work with different converters for various projects having this option would be game changer, we had digital desk back in the 90s, I don't understand why they dont do what RME so well and effectively, where they give customers many options and that is why so many folks buy RME product.
Hi NorthernProductions886, thanks for the question! While it can function as a USB interface, it is not really designed to run straight to monitors or control your studio. It is primarily designed as a set of preamps and I/O to supplement another interface. It has 8 channels of ADAT out and 4 (or 8 on the PureDrive 8) AES/EBU out, so depending on what monitors you have, or what monitor controller or distributor you have, you can run 12 (or 16 from the PureDrive 8) outputs from this device. If you are looking for a studio centerpiece or control solution, I would love to chat about some options with you, just give me a shout! Absolutely, I wonder if Neve can compete at that price range.
You’re on the money. I couldn’t believe the price when I saw it. Very bold move from a high end audio company.
yes please!
This is very interesting!

One of the hidden key features of these is, that you can use them with line level without additional D.I. boxes
looks dope
