  • Intent is who we aspire to be, as individuals, as members of our family, as members of our community, and citizens of mother earth. In this talk Mallika Chopra explains that intents are much different from goals, as a goal is mind orientated and revolves around tasks, while intents come from our soul, and represent our deepest desires - they define who we want to be.
Mallika Chopra is a mom, media entrepreneur, and author of Living with Intent: My Somewhat Messy Journey to Purpose, Peace and Joy. She is also the founder of Intent.com, a website focused on personal, social and global wellness. Her intent is to harness the power of social media to connect people from around the world to improve their own lives, their communities and the planet.
Mallika learned about the power of intention at a young age from her father, Deepak Chopra, who taught her to ask for love, hope, purpose, passion, inspiration on a daily basis.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

She did a great job at adding humor into her demonstration! To me not only is it refreshing to hear that although she had felt spread too thin or just normal life stress and was able to make small steps to make a big change, the comedic bits made it feel more relatable and that I don’t have to a bhuddist living in a temple to become present and mindful. This is exactly what I needed needed to hear

Watching this in 2020- in the middle of COVID! How powerful is what she just said about her vision for 2020... back in 2017! May we all be still and know our truth!

I heard that too. I see this talk is marked as published even before 2017. My guess is this talk happened more recently than 2017 ... maybe the end of 2019 her hopes for 2020 are prescient. We’re learning a lot from these growing pains the planet is experiencing & this time of isolation opens the door for an opportunity not be more still, quiet, & contemplative 🙏♥️🍃

Oops ... that was a typo! I meant “opens the door for an opportunity *to* be more still”

After she said that I should not feel the need to answer those three questions and "experience" the answers instead, I had the same answer for each of the questions.
    Who am I? PEACE.
    What do I want? PEACE.
    How can I serve? PEACE.

Fabulous! A wonderful demonstration of what living in the 'now' and with intent can be like. Something that isn't always easy to explain to our own clients who attend our Horse Sense equine assisted coaching programmes. Thank you for posting...

sat down, closed my eyes, asked myself these questions, and felt awakened with inspiration that tears flooded.
I am a creative, a lover, an inspiration.
I want to inspire people to live a life with intention.
I can serve by creating artwork with the purpose to inspire vulnerability, so that people can shine from their authentic selves and practice compassion with the universe.
I'm speaking it into existence for 2020.

Who am I? God. Not the God of any religion though. The God. The one consciousness that we all are. We are time, space, matter, dimension. We are the humans, the animals, the stones, the ghost, the alien. We are one choosing to experience form and free will in our infinite universe.

Your character shines so very brightly to admit to not meditating ALL the time and especially to NOT reading your dad's 80-sum-odd books...lol G way to go and then you grew-up b4 our eyes...how enlightening my dear!
p.s. i don't read them either ... few do, as he is so nice to put them on audio tape ...thank goodness because reading hurts my body too much, and i can listen again and again. aaaand....i hate yoga too ESPECIOALLY the dog moves 1st thing no no no yuck yuck Tai Chi is where it's at huh ????

Take a walk, a long one, and think about it. Don't allow yourself to answer "I don't know," force yourself to answer it even if the answer makes no sense at all. Keep at it giving yourself multiples of answers. Keep pondering - thinking deeply - about it. Don't stop until you get an answer that satisfies you.

Self help is one such money minting biz. These Chopras n d likes are all the result of that. Her father, Deepak Chopra wearing diamond crusted glasses n living in plush Manhatten condo. By selling snake oil in the name of happiness and peace💔🙃 Mint millions n yet complsin., live lavish n still feel anxious 🙄 Shows that you gotta "Find Your Own Buddha"👍

Please don't dilute the whole 'Who Am I' concept. The moment you followed the question of 'Who am I' with 'What is my purpose' and 'How can I server', you showed your complete ignorance! How can you even ask people to ponder over these ultimate questions of life, when you yourself are clueless?

    • @jchinckley
      @jchinckley 7 років тому +7

First off, I have to say I hate the UA-cam comment section - not because of the comments, but because if you click on reply to another comment after writing a first one (without clicking "Reply") it just erases your comment. It should just pop up a dialog and ask if you want to post the previous reply, not erase it! Grrr!
Now, your comment shows your own ignorance. You apparently don't know meditation as well as you think you do. She has been meditating for probably 20 years or more. She comes from a family that has taught its children meditation for at least two generations and perhaps for centuries or millennia. Who are you to judge her? She didn't come up with those questions on her own, her father taught her to ask them of herself *after* meditation. And the last line? It shows your own complete ignorance. Why would anyone ask these questions unless they were "clueless?" That's irrational and illogical. To ask questions you already know the answer to is both redundant and pointless unless you are a teacher and your students don't know the answer to the questions.
Beyond that, it is necessary to ask these questions of yourself or you will achieve nothing in your life. You won't ever be truly familiar with yourself and you won't have much of a relationship with anyone else either. These questions are necessary to find your own purpose and to give yourself motivation in everything you do, including in meditation. And if you are thinking of the concept of "letting go of ego," then you obviously don't understand what it is to "let go." No matter how hard you try you can never eliminate your "self." Your "self" isn't the same thing as your ego anyway. Having a self does not preclude you being able to experience "enlightenment." So unless you want to become a living mummy like the monk that some guy tried to sell on the Mongolian black market, these questions are necessary if you want to achieve anything with your life. Yes, there was a guy that was arrested for stealing the "remains" of a monk that was said to be in a state of concentration - a specialized form of meditation - and trying to sell the mummified body on the black market. Google it.
