- Back from Japan and I got some new Japanese Box Filter! Today I review 3 different aquarium filters from Japan. This fish tank filter from Japan is very simple but efficient. I find that the box filter from Japan is aesthetically pleasing. The Japanese aquarium filter works great.

It’s always interesting to see what you bring back from Japan! Watching on my tv now 🤠
Damn....my big bald head on tv!
CUTE little filter. I figure cc = ml. 1500ml is a proximity a liter and a half, which is less than 1/4 gal. Teeny Tiny filter might come in handy for incubating eggs or for fry in a small container.
For a fry tank like angels or rams!🤔
Those flat box filters look nice. I'm getting back into the hobby again after a several year break. Always liked the box filter/sponge set-up. Only need enough outlets for a light and air-pump.
Good Luck!
Actually Mike, carbon can be recharged by baking it in an oven above 225 F after washing it. It frees up all the pores to be used again.
Fish Tube man I might have to try that and how often do u think I should do that
i think is the activated carbon that you can recharge by baking.
@@fletchersfixit6358 Bi or Tri monthly. Depending on your fish load.
Fish Tube BUT, how far above 225*? (in a snooty voice)
@@theirishman8455 225-250 is fine. It recharges everything but heavy metals absorbed which are normally in small amounts it never absorbs much of them anyway.
Awesome filters from Japan 👍
Thanks!
That betta tank is going to be perfect for taking pic's of your fish. I had a few of those CHINA filters going for I guess over a year now and the cottony filter stuff fell apart. It did a fine job while it lasted. I did the same as you and replaced it with batting.
We are like twins bro!
@@MichaelsFishRoom TWINNING!!!!! LOL 🤣
Box filters are fun to look at and seeing them work .
You need more excitement in your life......
@@MichaelsFishRoom You're probably right. Sigh... 😔
Awesome! I’m thinking about going to Tokyo or Kyoto to see some fish stores if I get the chance :)
Do it! Did you pass your drivers test?
Michael's Fish Room I have another 2 weeks left to go. Japan’s Drivers year is tough. Takes at least 3 months for a normal person but I’m trying to do mine in less than 2 months
I'll pass on ordering any of the filters! The smallest 1 appears to be the actual air filter for a 2019 Subaru crosstrek!
Actually bigger.....I have a present for you in Sunday’s video!
LOL Doug!!!
I would definitely but the mini one for when I quarantine
Great little size for a small tank.
I totally enjoy your filter reviews!
Thanks Rock Lady!
I love new, foreign gizmos. I just recycled a ton of Chinese internal filters since I only have one 10 gallon tank now. I'm more into 40 and 60 gallons now, less maintenance. Someone would love that tiny glass tank for work. I personally wouldn't keep anything in it for any length of time but it is a great showcase tank for your guppies Mike. Nice video and I enjoyed it. Thanx.
Thanks for watching Bebe!
Hi do you have a video that review the smallest japan box filter?
No, but they are all the same really.
I'm a new hobbyist. I set up my first tank 4 months ago. I thought it was funny when I saw this video because before I can to work tonight I took out my carbon and replaced it with poly, bio rings, and sponge. Yep, I'm getting my big girl pants now!
Lol...ironic!
I mean... They look cool. But how much bioload would they bem able to filter. They are so small.
They are for small tanks, so yes, they are small. 🤦🏻♂️
You do not ship to Denmark, but we Pay around 5-6 dollars for a medium sponge filter, so if you need the carbon maybe its an option .
Yes or just a bit north, the kings Lyngby( Kongens Lyngby).
Small world!
It’s Amazing 😱😱😱
Like me and you😎.
Michael's Fish Room 🧔🏻👀👍🏼
Those Japanese Filters are the best.
Word!
filters are great looking and i liked the shop tours you did as well
Thanks Mark!
Hi Michael always great to see what products you can get in another country. Surprised that little tank made it back in 1 piece. Thanks for sharing 😊
I packed it really well! Thanks for watching!
Hi! I'm in Th Bronx. What's the best day of the week to order from you? I'm interested in some fish(guppies and plecos)
Any day. I ship Saturdays and Mondays.
I like those "pancake" filters. I'd put sponge in them along with the rocks. They would be nice in a planted tank..easy to hide a flat filter behind some plants. Nice find Mike. Definitely something I'd be interested in for sure.
Thanks! You are right, easy to hide for sure!
Would LOVE that little filter for my 5gal, do you sell these?
No, sorry.
"I didn't need it, but content for UA-cam."
That phrase costs me to much money.
But it’s a tax write off....lol
the real question is did you go to the subaru plant and get some dope JDM parts while you were in Japan. Back on topic, those pancake filters look cool, like the bug eye scoobies.
Lol....I was at the engine plant.....but no parts 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The biomedia, is it porous like lava rock or more smooth like pebbles?
Smooth like my head😉
Good video my friend. 👍
Thanks!
Great stuff from Japan Michael!
Thank you sir!
Love Japan
Me too
I love the medium and would definitely buy for my 10 gallon tanks. I think about 12 bucks or so. The smaller ones about 7 or 8. I hope you do give them away because i really love the shape and look of the medium one.
I amy have some more to sell/give away when I get back from my current trip!
I love your non PC attitude brother!
Thanks!
I thought they where unique filters, it would be interesting to compare them against the sponge filters. I use carbon in my aquariums because I dont have and automated water system and so carbon is a good thing.I have long suspected that flushing your tank daily is a good preventative, but for us that dont have that ability carbon is the way to go. Have a great weekend Mike go set up that chase lounge by your ponds and chill!
Sounds good to me!
Please keep it up love your video mutt guppy breeder myself very amateur you make me feel like I can do it and plecos are soooooo underrated beautiful fish love it will be watching
Thanks! It’s easy, if I can do it....you can too!
I’ve used carbon for eight years no problems I’ve had some tanks running for all them years just fine no crazy chemical releasing from the carbon
Cool story
hi Michael will you be going to the
ACA in
Connecticut this july
Yup!
I used to bought Gex small nano plastic betta tank that can stack alot, but it not good bcos its bring out alot of chemicals on the water. 😒
This is all glass!
Very cool!! Do you speak Japanese? Curious because the boxes are in Japanese. :) Maybe $10.00 and $7.00?
I speak a little Japanese, and read even less!
😁👍 I like the lower profile of the pancake filter...mmm pancakes 🥞
MMMMMM Pancakes and real maple syrup with BUTTER!
Michael are related to Rich at review tech USA?
Nope
That knife though 😱
AWESOME!
google translate app on your phone can translate from pic or live video ;)
But it is not accurate usually.
Michael's Fish Room this is true but found it better than nothing if you are really in a bind
Nice karambit!
What’s that? Lol
@@MichaelsFishRoomIt's your knife! 🤗
Interesting filters! Thanks Mike......I think Doug is right though LOL
🤬🤬🤬🤬
I could use that nano filter!
Sold already!
I think the filters are cool and I would pay 15 for the m one and 10 for the s one and I am gone to send u a picture of my fish stand I made on Instagram love your videos makes me want to do more with fish
Do more!
1500cc is 1.5 liters. No clue if that’s how much the thing can hold or how that’s helpful
LOL...thanks!
Dear Michael, I can attest that the activated carbon myth of it releasing everything its consumed back out is nonsense. I have a 450 litre tank with a deep bed substrate, which has been set up for nearly 3 years, layered with activated carbon, gravel, more activated carbon and topped off with more gravel. It sits around 10 inches thick and lays on top of a layer of foam then an undergravel filter. Rather than using air, the outlet of the undergravel filter is connected into the input of an FX6 set up mainly as mechanical filtration before going into a 36 chambers (of wu-tang) overhead trickle filtration filled with many varieties of biohome, other sintered glass media, alfa grog before coming back into the tank. The tank is heavily planted and stocked with everything from snails, shrimp, community fish, Tetra, guppies, rainbows, barbs, dwarf chain loaches to bristlenoses, single pea puffer etc. I never do water changes or gravel vacs, only top ups. The other side of the tank also has a sun sun with a double pre filter, one ehiem and one small cannister pre filter before going through 4 layers of biological filtration in the sun sun.
The tank is more or less self sustainable besides the eheim pre filter which I clean around once every 2 weeks. I clean the sun sun pre filter once every 3 months and FX6 once a year. I feed irregularly, left over fruit and veg, frozen blood worms, cultured brine shrimp, dried pellets and I breed snails on two hang on the side breeder boxes. I find the less I do to the tank, the better, even feeding. I've been away for 2 weeks at a time and still not lost fish or had any issues. I don't know why people keep regurgitate the same nonsense about activated carbon leeching back out what they intake. In my experience having over 40kg of activated carbon in my tank as substrate has helped maintain the eco system which I've created.
I have use carbon and activated carbon before and never had any problem the problem was carbon had to be replace monthly was costly for people.
Good for you. But I have had it happen to me, so I am not regurgitating anything, as usual, I am speaking from my own experience.
Lmao...put the tiny filter in your new betta tank😂😂😂
Nooooooo! No filter in my Betta tank! Lol
@@MichaelsFishRoom hahahahah...it would've been soooo cute tho...

A giveaway 😱😱😱
LOL
Hey
Hey you
japan filter
Yup
Oh no 😱. You can’t put a betta in a glass box 😱
For my own amusement too!
Well if we are going to be anti-PC I am in! Just remember someone like me might say those filters are the stupidest things I have ever seen! Why would you want something that takes up that much or your tanks surface area? Long and lean is where it is at.
Lol...is that what the girls tell you?
Yes...
“The China pancake “
Lol
All anything cheap are made in China lol 😂
I ever once in Japan and bought some suvenir but at the package said made in china 😂
Lol...yup
It's fun to watch your videos when you're drunk!
It’s fun to watch them naked too.
Carbon 🙄🙄🙄. Ain’t nobody got time for that 🤦🏻♂️
I laughed way to hard at that. I read in my head in tour accent too.
**SIRENS GOING OFF**
Fish Police here.... Carbon ADsorbs, not ABsorbs
30 lashes with a wet noodle for you... AND we're going to make you drive a Nissan for a week.
I definitely think we should see more box filters in the USA, especially cool shaped ones like these..
Now I have to look up “adsorbs”.......
@@MichaelsFishRoomAbsorb is like a sponge... it can soak it up and release it just as easily. Adsorb is chemically bonding to something, so it doesn't get released. (unless it is superheated usually with carbon)
