Voodoo Patching | Mimeophon & Echophon Feedback Loop
Вставка

- #Mimeophon is more than just a delay, it's a musical instrument on its own, capable of creating many different sounds. It may be Echophon's successor, but using them both can seriously enlarge your sonic landscape. The video starts with feedback patching, where I route the output of the Mime back into itself with either Optomix or #Echophon in between - hence the title 'voodoo patching' because it can get completely out of control.
I created a Chinese ambience by pitching both Echophon & Mimeophon somewhere in the middle of the video. While preparing the 'finale' I ran into this great happy accident and forgot to create a feedback loop. I can never predict what's going to happen after I press 'record'. However, it clearly demonstrates the power of Echophon and Mimeophon as a team.

I’m still fairly new at this modular lark, and the lesson for me here is to be less timid- and that a VCO is not absolutely necessary, and feedback can be your friend. Thank you!
You are very welcome! The idea that it all comes down to voltage changing slow, fast, ticking, going up and down, etc. is very liberating. At some point you'll start 'seeing' streams of sound and modules that control certain aspects of that stream.
Feedback patching is one of my favourite things in all modular. I love this, thank you!
wow, i love the feedback patch !
Congratulations Robert, I think it's my favorite patch in the whole series!
Sorry for the late response, but thanks a lot for sharing this!
I love the Mimeophon -- my favorite delay in Eurorack -- and this was a fantastic example of why.
This is brilliant. Happy to see and hear Mime and Echophon in the same case. Just received my Echophon so it's time to try this. These choir sounds, ace ! Thanks for posting.
Beautiful as always, loved the Dragon patch!
This feedback patch and divkids stereo dipoles noise machine x mod patch are the best, i cant wait to get a beads and mix it all up with wmd sequential switch matrix!
Dude, this is ART. Beautiful patch. So happy I discovered your channel.
Man, this one was great. I'm really new to modular, but so many pieces I hear and love seem to use the mimeophon a whole lot. As soon as funds allow I think this will be my next module. Cheers.
Well, don't take my word for it, but this has been my favorite module for 2019. It's a masterpiece.
@@CinematicLaboratory I'm thinking you might be right!
Also, thanks for putting all those notes in the description too. Really helpful. I've been really enjoying your channel.
Very nice! Thank you! I haven't got the Mimeophon to create these choir like sounds yet, but once (when creating the Shepard Tone), suddenly a 'little girls voice' came out of it. So weird to patch itself back (The Shepard Tone does not require patching back, but I just tried).
I want to create a full stereo feedback loop one day. (Nebulae v2, Hyrlo, Overseer, Mimeophon), but I haven't found the time yet. :/
I feckin' love this shit! :D
Hey man, what a wonderful patch! I was wondering, what part of the patch takes care of the "pitch shifting" effect on the choir around 5:15? Also I just posted my first Mimeophon video, it's heavily inspired from your video on the "Drummer from another coast" video! I don't regret buying it, it's already my favourite module!
I am not sure, I was surprised by it, it was truly a happy accident and I completely forgot to finish what I was doing. The good thing about creating videos is that I may be able to trace down my steps. Regardless, it's a combo of Echophon Pitch Shifting (pretty much in harmony (not in tune) with the DPO) and Mimeophon's Zone & Repeat modulated by Wogglebug.
@@CinematicLaboratory It's my favourite part about the modular journey: you start walking down a path without a destination in mind and find so many secret places down the road!
except of great patch, the big knob on morphagene is such a great idea ;)
