@@hobbylasermachine I’m not sure how to explain what I am needing help with, but I am going to try. I have 3D layered SVG files that I have down loaded from design bundles. When I open them up on Lightburn how do I make them into different layers? I hope that makes since. Thanks for responding.

@@nancypratt200 Hi Nancy! I understand what you're looking to do. To work with 3D layered SVG files in LightBurn, follow these steps to separate them into different layers:
      1. Import the SVG File: Open LightBurn and import the 3D layered SVG file you downloaded from Design Bundles.
      2. Ungroup Elements: Once the file is imported, you might see that the 3D layers are grouped together. Right-click on the grouped elements and select "Ungroup" to separate them.
      3. Select and Organize Layers: Use the Selection tool to click on each layer of the 3D design. LightBurn will automatically select individual elements in that layer. Then, right-click on the selected elements and choose "Move to Layer" to assign them to a specific layer.
      4. Create New Layers (Optional): If needed, you can create new layers in LightBurn to organize your design further. Click on the "Layers" tab on the right-hand side, and at the bottom of the Layers panel, there's an option to "Create Layer."
      5. Assign Elements to Layers: Once you've created new layers (if necessary), select the elements of each layer in your design, right-click, and move them to the corresponding layer using the "Move to Layer" option.
      6. Organize and Adjust Settings: In the Layers panel, you can adjust settings like power, speed, and order for each layer individually, which allows you to control the engraving or cutting process for each part of your 3D design.
      7. Preview and Adjust: Before sending your design to the laser, use the Preview function in LightBurn to see how each layer will be processed. Make any necessary adjustments to achieve your desired outcome.
Remember to save your project after organizing the layers so you can easily make changes or re-use the design in the future. I hope this helps you work with your 3D layered SVG files in LightBurn. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. Happy laser engraving! 🎨🔧

Back to the tabs. It is probably located right in front of my face, but its not on my left side bar, above the text like yours is and I have looked in Edit, Tools, Laser tools and windows and can not find it.

@@nancypratt200 Hi Nancy! Don't worry, the tabs feature might just be in a different location on your LightBurn interface. Let's find it together:
      1. Check the "Window" Menu: Go to the "Window" menu at the top of the LightBurn window. Look for "Tabs" in the dropdown list. If it's not checked, click on "Tabs" to enable the tabs panel, and it should appear on your screen.
      2. Customize Your Layout: LightBurn allows you to customize your interface layout. The tabs panel might have been moved or hidden inadvertently. You can try resetting your workspace layout to default settings by going to the "Window" menu and selecting "Reset to Default Layout." This action will restore the default placement of panels, including the tabs panel.
      3. Adjust Panel Locations: If the tabs panel is not in the left sidebar, it's possible that you moved it to a different location. You can click and drag the panel by its title bar to relocate it to your desired position. You can also dock it to the left sidebar by dragging it to the left edge of the LightBurn window until you see a blue drop zone indicator.
      4. Check Panel Grouping: Sometimes, the tabs panel might be grouped with other panels, making it appear as a tab within another panel. Look for tabs in the left sidebar or other panels that might expand to reveal the tabs.
      5. Reinstall LightBurn (Optional): If the tabs panel is still missing, it's possible there was a glitch during installation. As a last resort, you can try reinstalling LightBurn to ensure all features are available.
Remember, LightBurn's interface can be customized, so the tabs panel might have been moved or hidden inadvertently. Take a moment to explore the "Window" menu and try repositioning panels to find the tabs. If you're still having trouble, don't hesitate to reach out for more assistance. Happy laser cutting with tabs! 🎨🔧

Thanks for this video , only one question about it , You can export the design with these tabs to be able to cut it later, for example export it in SVG and cut it not directly from lightburn?

    • @hobbylasermachine
      @hobbylasermachine  Рік тому

Yes, you can export your design with tabs from LightBurn and cut it later using other software or machines. LightBurn allows you to export your design in various file formats, including SVG, which is a widely supported format for cutting machines.
To export your design with tabs, follow these steps:
      1. In LightBurn, make sure your design is set up with the desired tabs using the techniques shown in the tutorial.
      2. Go to the "File" menu and select "Save As."
      3. Choose the file format you want to export as. In this case, you can select SVG.
      4. Give your file a name and choose the location where you want to save it.
      5. Click "Save" to export the design with tabs as an SVG file.
Once the SVG file is exported, you can use it with other cutting software or machines that support SVG files. This way, you can take advantage of LightBurn's tab feature even if you plan to cut the design later or with a different setup.
By exporting your design with tabs, you ensure that the tabs are included in the file, providing the necessary supports for later cutting without the need to recreate them. This feature is particularly helpful when working on complex projects or when using different machines or software for cutting.
      I hope this helps!
