    Leathercraft is a very rewarding and satisfying hobby. Enjoy 👍 And just a little advice. I know you didn't ask for it, but it'll save you from a disappointment. Glue some leather on the inside of the jaws of the stitching pony to avoid scratches and marks on your future leather projects. I wish you good luck and a lot of fun.

    Nice, you’re about to develop an expensive addiction 😂 If you polish your stitching chisel tines and then push them into beeswax once in awhile, it will help it go through easier.

      Oh nice! I’ve been struggling the past couple of days with punching the stitching chisel completely through so I am grateful for that beeswax tip. Not a bad little kit for getting your toes into the water. It can be a pricey investment in tools depending on what type of leather goods you to choose to produce. I have over $50k in tools and machinery for my shop and I am always eyeing more tools. The tool that had the wheel with protrusions is a stitch marking wheel, used to space out holes you plan to pierce using an awl rather than the stitching chisels. The tool at the 21 min mark is called a French skiver, it’s excellent for thinning out leather on edges and reducing bulk in areas like binder spines to prevent the material from bunching up and wrinkling. What type of leather goods do you want to get into making as a business?

      Thank you for the advice! I’m just getting into leather crafting, and it’s exciting to see how much there is to learn. I’m starting small, making wallets and maybe keychains. Eventually, I’d love to expand to other leather goods, but right now I’m focused on refining my skills. I appreciate the tip on the stitch marking wheel and the French skiver-it’s great to know how to use the tools properly! I’ll definitely keep your shop setup in mind for future upgrades. What are your favorite tools or machines in your collection?

    Lol. Have fun with your new tools. You are using most of them wrong though. You may want to start watching more leather crafting videos before you try to make any projects. Learn what the tools are and how to use them properly. You may also want to look around more for leather. at your skill level, you should buy scraps to work with before wasting money on premium leathers to play with. Most of your beginning stuff, you'll end up wanting to throw away. Don't waste the good and expensive leather to start. Save that leather for later. When you are ready to make projects, buy leather in the thickness you want. You are NOT going to skive down a wallet back with a hand skiver. You need a splitting machine for that. Skiving by hand is mostly only for edge work. The tool you thought was for beveling the edges with, was actually a cheap French skiver. You had it upside down. You didn't have an edge beveler in your kit that I saw. The French skiver is ALSO for thinning down edges and thinning leather for folding. Some use them to thin down a pocket for a wallet.

      Hey James, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate the advice and will definitely take a closer look at my tools. It's always a learning process, and I'm excited to improve with each project. I’ll be sure to practice more on scrap leather and get familiar with the specific functions of the skiver and edge beveler before working with the premium leather. Your insights about using a splitting machine for wallet backs make sense too. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

    Hi I grabbed the latest driver for it... my laser was originally trying to use com3, wouldn't connect giving an error message saying access denied to com port, so I changed the port it used to com port 6, still won't connect... • @hobbylasermachine
      @hobbylasermachine 3 дні тому

      Hi, it sounds like your COM port might still be having conflicts. Here's what you can try: 1. **Check COM port conflicts**: Ensure no other device is using the same COM port (3 or 6). You can change or disable unused ports in Device Manager. 2. **Run as Admin**: Launch Lightburn or GRBL as an administrator for better permissions. 3. **Reinstall drivers**: Uninstall the driver and reinstall the latest version. 4. **Verify Baud Rate**: Make sure your baud rate matches the laser's requirements. Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes!

      أهلاً! شكرا على تعليقك. إذا كنت تواجه مشكلات مع جهاز K40 الخاص بك مشابهة لما تم وصفه، فإليك بعض الخطوات التي يمكنك اتباعها لشد الأحزمة واجتياز اختبار الدائرة: ### 1. **فحص الأحزمة وشدها:** - **أحزمة المحور X وY:** افتح جهاز K40 الخاص بك وافحص الأحزمة الموجودة على المحورين X وY. إذا شعروا بأنهم فضفاضون أو لديهم الكثير من اللعب، فأنت بحاجة إلى تشديدهم. - **عملية الشد:** حدد مكان براغي شد الحزام أو آلية الضبط. عادة، يتم العثور عليها بالقرب من المحركات السائر أو في نهايات المحور. قم بربط البراغي بما يكفي لإزالة الارتخاء ولكن احرص على عدم الإفراط في ربطها لأن ذلك قد يتسبب في التآكل أو التلف. ### 2. **التحقق من المحاذاة:** - التأكد من محاذاة الأحزمة بشكل صحيح وعدم احتكاكها بأي أجزاء أخرى. يمكن أن يسبب عدم المحاذاة توترًا غير متساوٍ ويؤثر على جودة القطع والنقوش. ### 3. **تشحيم القضبان وتنظيفها:** - تنظيف القضبان والتأكد من تشحيمها جيدًا. سيساعد ذلك على تحرك الحامل بسلاسة وتقليل أي مقاومة قد تؤثر على شد الحزام. ### 4. **إجراء اختبار الدائرة:** - بعد شد الأحزمة، قم بإجراء اختبار الدائرة. أنشئ تصميمًا دائريًا بسيطًا في برنامجك وقم بإجراء اختبار القطع أو النقش. تحقق من الإخراج للتأكد من صحة الدوائر وعدم تشويهها. ### 5. **ضبط تيار محرك السائر:** - في بعض الأحيان، يمكن أن يساعد ضبط تيار المحرك السائر في حالة انزلاق الأحزمة بسبب عدم كفاية الطاقة. تأكد من ضبط برامج تشغيل محرك السائر على التيار الصحيح لمحركاتك. ### 6. **التحقق من وجود عوائق ميكانيكية:** - فحص مسار العربة بالكامل للتأكد من عدم وجود أي عوائق أو حطام يمكن أن يؤثر على الحركة. ### 7. **معايرة البرامج:** - وأخيرًا، تأكد من معايرة إعدادات البرنامج بشكل صحيح. تحقق مرة أخرى من الخطوات لكل ملليمتر في البرنامج الثابت أو البرنامج الخاص بك لضمان الدقة. إذا كنت لا تزال تواجه مشكلات بعد هذه التعديلات، فيرجى تقديم مزيد من التفاصيل حول المشكلة المحددة التي تواجهها، ويمكننا فحصها بشكل أكبر. آمل أن يكون هذا مفيدًا، ونتمنى لك حظًا سعيدًا مع جهاز K40 الخاص بك! نقش سعيد!

      Hi there! Thank you for watching the video and reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your Atomstack A10 Pro. Let's see if we can get this sorted out for you. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Check Laser Power Settings: In LightBurn, ensure that the laser power settings are correct. Go to the Cuts/Layers tab and make sure the power (expressed as a percentage) is set to a value higher than 0%. You might need to set both minimum and maximum power levels. 2. Enable Laser Fire Button: Since you mentioned the laser fire button, make sure it’s enabled and functioning correctly. Go to Device Settings (Edit > Device Settings), then to the Basic Settings tab. Ensure the Enable Laser Fire Button option is checked. This button allows you to manually turn on the laser at low power for focusing. 3. Check for Firmware Settings: Make sure your firmware settings are configured correctly. Connect your laser to your computer and open LightBurn. In the console, type the following commands and press Enter after each one: $32=1 (This enables laser mode) $30=1000 (This sets the maximum spindle speed, which should match the S-value max in LightBurn) 4. Set S-Value Max: In LightBurn, go to Device Settings and make sure the S-Value Max matches the value set in your firmware. Typically, this is set to 1000, but it might be different for your machine. 5. Wiring and Connections: Double-check all wiring and connections to ensure everything is secure and correctly plugged in. 6. Test with Simple Shapes: Try running a test with a simple shape (like a square or circle) using default settings. Sometimes starting with a simple design can help isolate the issue. 7. Update Firmware: Make sure your machine's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes bugs are fixed in newer versions that could resolve your issue. If after trying these steps you still face issues, please provide more details about the problem. Screenshots of your settings could also be helpful for further troubleshooting. I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance. Good luck, and happy engraving! ~Shane

    Here is the Etsy link to Clack Shack's jig, definitely a great addition to your D1 or D1 Pro: www.etsy.com/listing/1229695807/interchangeable-jig-kit-xtool-d1-and-pro

    They will all fit the D1 or the Pro. I run mm/s... You will get the hang of it. That is one of my earliest kits. You really only need the item files in the lightburn window. You can add a tool line for framing. The system is dependent on the home of the machine being accurate. I recommend at "return to location" if you can't get the homing more consistent. Thanks.

    Here how we do it in Egypt, don't know if its the perfect way or not.. we use 2k car paint colors with spray gun.. it got a hardner added to it. U start with base color.. spray multiple layers.. this will give thickness and smooth surface. Then u spray second color once.. after you leave it to dry.. u setup your laser to lowest power and take it one notch in power until u get the target results.. taking it slow to make sure u r not over burning to a point of removing the base color.. once done u spray your top coat or varnish

      Thank you... so ... much! I finally realized why this project failed. I didn't ease into the power as you described. I never even thought about that technique. I just burned right through both layers of paint. You just helped me a lot, I'm really grateful to you for sharing this as I have wondered for well over a year why this failed so badly and now the lightbulb just turned on.

    I need to be able to free hand cut. Does anyone know if the fire button allows you to simply turn on the laser and leave it on? I really need a foot peddle. I'm seriously considering building my own from scratch. There's a big leap from pointers to industrial lasers and not much in between. The parts I'm doing are unique and not something I can easily set up as a programmed cut. The problem is bandsaws tear the material but a laser doesn't pull at it. I;m dealing with fibers but burning isn;t an issue.

    • @hobbylasermachine
      @hobbylasermachine 3 місяці тому

      Enabling the laser fire button is indeed a useful feature for free-hand cutting, but it typically doesn't allow the laser to stay on continuously without holding the button down. Most laser systems are designed with safety in mind, preventing the laser from staying active without manual engagement. For your unique needs, a foot pedal could be an excellent solution. Some laser systems allow for the integration of foot pedals to control the laser. If your current setup doesn't support this, you might consider a custom modification. Here's a general approach: 1. Check the Laser Controller: See if your laser controller has an option for external controls. Some controllers have input ports for accessories like foot pedals. 2. Foot Pedal Integration: If your controller supports it, you can purchase a compatible foot pedal and connect it. Ensure it's rated for your laser's power and control system. 3. Custom Foot Pedal: If you’re technically inclined, building a foot pedal from scratch is possible. You would need a foot switch, proper wiring, and connectors that match your laser system's requirements. Regarding the specific nature of your work with fibers, using a laser is indeed beneficial as it doesn't exert physical force on the material. Ensure your laser’s power settings are properly adjusted to avoid burning. If modifying or creating your own foot pedal sounds daunting, consider reaching out to the manufacturer of your laser system for advice on compatible accessories. They might offer or recommend a suitable foot pedal or other solutions tailored to your cutting needs.

    Hi! I’m a ceramicist. I wanted to confirm that this plate with engraving is not food safe. I am unfamiliar with the glaze ingredients that are exposed because of the deep engraving, but aside from that it is not food safe because tiny bacteria etc will get stuck in the deep lettering that is now unglazed. If you are a ceramist and want to try this, and make it food safe; I would suggest only engraving things on the bottom of a plate/mug etc or on the side of a mug. But make it very shallow, not as deep as this. I guess you could experiment with trying the laser on bisque ware and glazing it transparent after? Or maybe glaze it, engrave it, and glaze it a second time but with transparant glaze? Although I assume the last option might alter your colored glaze with a second high fire + it is harder to glaze when it’s already high fired. I’m going to try engraving something on my ceramics soon. Will update if I know more :)

      Thank you for this information and I’ll pin it for anyone else unsure. I’ve been using the engraved plate exclusively for cookies but I’ll just display it on the book case from now on. 🤘
