I somehow remembered Chris mentioning Turkey's "Independence War" in the previous video. The Turkish naming "Istiklal Savasi" for that war should be better translated with "Freedom (Liberty) War" because Turkey was never colonized or "dependent" to other powers . It was rather a war against foreign invasion of Anatolia after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire by Greek,French,British,Italian troops and in the east with Armenia. Real fights mostly took place between Turkey and Greece and Turkey and France. And hey.....thanks for the video.

Amazing beautiful episode... because of Mick videos I have flewn from Algeria to Fethyie to spend my honeymoon !! Me and my wife have loved it !! And we are planning to go back very soon inshAllah.
There's another reason for building on the hill sides. Very common in Italy. It got you away from the mosquitos particularly at the end of the day. Malaria, = mal air = bad air. That been the original idea as to the cause.
Wow that took me right back to when my wife and I both took tandem flights off Babadag mountain in Olu Deniz. Its a fantastic resort with so many great eateries and bars. Hope to return once the madnesss is over. Top spot.

You are making me feel homesick for a country I love and feel so at home in. Your videos bring so much pleasure and I feel for those 28 mins that I am there again and that's a wonderful gift. You have such engaging, fun and open personalities it really is like travelling to well loved spots with friends. Have followed Mick for a number of years too and it's great to see the four of you banter together and become friends. I look forward to more travels from you both as well as Mick and Trudie. In the meantime, I am going to indulge and go travelling with you all over again as I rewind this video to the start and relive it all over again. Welcome to Turkey. Welcome to Muğla Fethiye, . Greetings to you from Turkey. I am sure you have seen many beautiful cities in your world travels, but the beauties of Fethiye are different. Enjoy Fethiye.. Healthy days.
I spent a summer in Fethiye in the late 90s, this really takes me back! All my old haunts. The walk from Fethiye to Kayaköy and then on to Ölüdeniz is pretty great. At the time there weren't really any restaurants in Kayaköy, it was very rural. The book Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernières is set there too, highly recommended.
I have gone Oludeniz once when i was child. I remember that the pepples were more white and sea was like a pool. I have never forgotten that image underwater. It is getting deep quickly and very cold. Thank you very much for this beautiful shot💐
We had numerous holidays in Turkey 30 years ago and always stayed in Kas, it was beautiful then and Olu Deniz had just a couple of shacks and a camel ride on the beach it was paradise.
Wonderful as always. You all work so well together and compliment one another perfectly, I follow Mick and Tread the Globe. I have .enjoyed watching your travels around Turkey, but I am particularly enjoying, your travels within, the Fethiye region of Turkey. As it is, as a family, our favourite place to Holiday. Visiting yearly and sometimes up to 3 times a year. Thanks again to all of you. X

Mick and trudie have a huge following both turkish and uk its gonna be a major wrench coming to leave turkey once things settle down . Great episode folks all the best pls take care ... ian ....
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much Ian - it has been a great time and a massive giggle catching up with these two !! And filming together was so much fun LOL - we will indeed miss Turkey when the day comes to leave ..... M xx
I think parts of James Bond Skyfall was filmed at a beach bar in Calis beach and I think some shots of the sailing ship in the waters near Fethiye were used also.
Mick Amca is the best. Seeing this video brought back memories of 1990- the tour leading down to the beach from Hisaronu- on the right is where the Hotel Belle Vue was - owned by a lovely man named Muammer Amca who called himself Omar Sharif- it was 2 star it the owners made you feel like royalty. And there were no other buildings on that road apart from farms near the sea front. Oh how it’s changed
You guys had such a great day...you squeezed so much in to it!!! Must say how sad I am to see all the graffiti over and inside the Lycian tomb!! As Mick said, so many generations have been witness to the tombs, but it's our children that decided to spoil them 😪 A lovely video, thanks for sharing.
We were there last week and even though it was September, it was packed. I can't believe how empty it is in this video 😄 It is lovely though we couldn't get enough and plan to go back again. 10 days is not enough to get enough of the bluest of blues see and discover the nature and the history surrounding the area. So much to see and do!
The back road from Hisaronu, through Kayakoy, and down to Fethiye is a stunning scooter ride. We've been doing it for over 30 years. Unfortunately Hisaronu is now like Blackpool, and has lost it's charm. That's why we now holiday in Dalyan . . . it's more like Turkey used to be. Sad really.
Glad you enjoyed it and you would love Trudie too - she is so funny and we just clicked !! Woo Hoo - still so much to come on this journey - and we are doing a live chat to discuss a few things this Saturday xx love from us xx💜🌺🙏
