Your laugh is contagious! I did have to watch the video twice as I was sewing a quilt top with potato chip blocks and got distracted. If you can't enjoy the process mistakes and all it's no fun at all!
The thought process you have, is great for someone like me, who 'gets' it, as I have been quilting for 24 years! I totally understand your thinking, the why's and why not's of it all, the creative process/color value placements, the practical reasons, etc. I am nodding yes, throughout, as it all makes perfect sense for me... I also think the same way as you do, when placing my smaller blocks together with others, to create a larger block... and no two same pieces touching... I love how it is similar to the Split Nine Patch..but a slight variation of it!
We're obviously quilting cousins! It's funny that I was never taught this. This process is just what I do but it can also be learned by others who like to 'play' with fabric choices! Such fun to share ideas to inspire.
Your quilt turned out so cute! I made my first quilt actually "following the pattern", and while it did make it easier, I think my own "chaotic" way of doing it makes it more fun for me. I also work out plans as I go, most of the time they work, sometimes I have to adjust a little. As for fabrics, while I love bundles of coordinating fabrics, but I prefer to mix and match instead of letting a designer "pick" fabrics for me. Picking the fabrics is probably my favorite part of a quilt process.
Lea, the thing that disappoint me the most is, Glenda posted her comment on UA-cam just after you announced me as the winner where you clearly stated to contact via email. Guess when you congratulated her, you never noticed her name and user name were not the same as the winner you announced, which was me. It’s unfortunate as I was so excited, but life is what it is. However, I love your channel and method of teaching and please be assured I will continue to watch and recommend your channel to all my friends. Thank you, Gloria

Good video, I use a design board and usually mess up a block or two

I was confused at first then it all came together. Thanks for another interesting block and not so many seams to match up 🤩
Pretty
Lea Louise, somewhat of a word salad for me. But the outcome is beautiful.
