It probably wasnt hers. Ostriches females lay eggs in one location for all. They can lay up to 40 eggs a year. Most eggs don’t survive and they know it. She would go as far as push one egg 🥚 out the nest so the rest can survive when they see predators near by.

Actually, if the ostriches formed a harem to raise the chicks the survival rate would've been higher, so yeah, it's not the best parenting strategy to let the dominant pair do all the work.
