Good job there SB, you just about outdid my recent exploits with that one 😂 You did very well to cope with the stalling as you did, must have made the climb and the slow manoeuvring between those branches doubly difficult. As you say, probably about as sketchy as you would want to go when riding on your own, looked very rough in places, easy to take a tumble. Nice to see you tackling the TET and we all enjoyed the heavy breathing, I'm sure 😜 I hope that overall you enjoyed the experience, otherwise there is no point in doing it. It has to at least be enjoyable. Maybe tackle the same trail again when the bike is not misbehaving and see how you feel about it then ? Speaking as an off-road adventurer myself 😜 the trouble with this sort of thing is that it's impossible to know what's up ahead. You could be heading into a section which is beyond you or the bike. At which point you need to turn around. And that is sometimes easier said than done. I just think that having somebody with you, to share the potential misery if things go wrong, goes a long way to dispelling all doubts and just giving it a go and seeing what happens. Well, that's my take on it. I think with a companion I would feel a lot more confident about tackling a new trail and believing that nothing too bad is likely to happen. Thanks for sharing SB and keep up the good work 👍🏻 but safety first ! All the best and love from us both, ER ( El Otro ).
Ive always been a bit of a numpty. But I have spoken with Mrs SB and told her in future, I’ll be telling her where I’m going and when to expect to hear from me (if going alone). Apart from the stalling, which is thankfully fixed, I really enjoyed this. And yesterday I was introduced to miles of trails not far from home. Some TET and other byways etc. Had a great time. No heavy breathing either 🙂 I’m quite happy exploring alone but I need to learn where to draw the line. I want to get home for a nice drop of vino in the evening 🤣 I look forward to more of your adventures too. Many thanks and all the best to you both. Cheers 🍻
@@Saddlebags73 That sounds like a plan SB, as long as the Mrs knows approximately where you are, there should be a chance of somebody raising the alarm. Maybe get the app what3words on both your phones, then you can give her your precise location by sending just three words and she can also give this information to any emergency services required 👍🏻 Much easier than dictating a long series of coordinates ! Good luck out there and just be careful. As I said, maybe ride this trail again with the bike behaving normally now. Firstly you should find it a lot easier, secondly you will gain confidence and thirdly you already know where you are heading. It certainly looked like a pretty challenging trail and definitely one for the memory bank if you are feeling up for a relatively straightforward yet challenging off-road ride again. I'm desperate to explore some more trails myself but at the same time I do have a lot of sympathy for Buddy and neither do I want to get stuck with those tyres on and need recovery 🤔 I suppose I can ride the same trail again, I know I can get down it on those tyres and this time I will have luggage on the bike, so I can take that sandwich and cup of tea with me 😛 As soon as the Classic is run in, I will definitely take it down that same trail, just for comparison. Take care Jeff, back to work 😜 ER.
You should definitely give it a go. I was introduced to miles of trails yesterday, and had a fantastic time. I’m using OsmAnd app (free version), and downloaded the TET map from the official website, and imported it into the app. The TET runs within a quarter of a mile of my home too 🙂 Many thanks, and best of luck 👍🏼
Green lanes are one thing, SB, but part of that trail would make a trip through the Amazon jungle look easy. Well done for tackling it. Surely the Enfield warranty should cover the stalling problem?
It was a bit tougher than I had anticipated, I must admit. My warranty is void as I am servicing the bike myself. All sorted with a fresh spark plug though, thankfully 🙂 Many thanks Jim 👍🏼
Good on ya!! Not sure I would have tried something quite that difficult by myself, especially with a bike being a bit temperamental! Looks like an scum lot of fun though😂😂. I like the new channel name 😂😂😂. So when are you going to do the whole trail? Take care, Patrick
I hate turning back 🤣 The bike was a pig, but sorted now. I’ll be starting to do the trail in my county very soon, in stages. There will no doubt be parts that are beyond both the bike and myself, but I’ll do what I can. Many thanks Patrick, all the best. Scratchy scratch 🤣
Hi and thank you. I fitted a Lextek silencer to the original front pipe. It’s a nice sound without being too antisocial. If you want antisocial it has a removable baffle. As well as sounding a little better than the standard it is a lot lighter. The original silencer is a lump.
Well done, very intrepid...... brambles hawthorn and blackberry plus a staling bike. You are an inspiration to us all. Love your Vlogs keeps me in touch with old blighty. I live on the Gold coast Australia these days. I like the idea of taking many trips to the outback, Ayers rock (Uluru) Olga's Devils Marbles etc. Should i take the Himalayan or an all new scram. At the moment i don't have either, just Interceptor 650, GT 650, GT 535, and Ernie lookalike classic 500 Chrome. All too shiny for what i have in mind. i would love to know your thoughts or recommendations regarding Himalayan or Scram for this task.
Many thanks my friend! It sounds like you have some great trips ahead. I don’t know what sort of terrain you’ll be encountering. The Himalayan can probably handle the off road slightly better, having the bigger front wheel. It does still lack ground clearance, but it handles rough stuff pretty well. I haven’t ridden a Scram so I can’t make an educated comparison, but I would imagine it would be slightly better if your trips are mostly road or gravel tracks. Having said that, I find the Himalayan just fine on the road, ridden sensibly. Follow your dreams and enjoy 🙂👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 Thanks for your reply, you pretty much confirmed what i already suspected. I think it will be mainly road but some dirt roads with bull dust and ruts and puddles as they call them if they don't cover the engine. Scram still not in the shops in Queensland yet, but i will be first in the door when they are. Love your Vlogs keep up the good work. Cheers for now from down under.
@@Saddlebags73 I Certainly will let you know how i get on, but don't hold your breath as i am trying to tie it up with some long service leave. In Australia you get 10 weeks payed leave after 10 years which is a couple of years away yet so plenty of time to plan it all out properly. Just checked the recommended root from my house to Ayers rock and it seems to be 3272 Kilometres one way! I may need a saddle improvement like yours if i end up with a Himalayan, Ha Ha. I’ve been out in the lanes again today, and at one point I actually said “it isn’t the ideal bike for it”, due to weight and ground clearance. That looked pretty tricky stuff to me. Especially with the bike cutting out like that. Could, easily, have made you drop the bike. BTW, what app were you using? - I'm looking for an off road app to try out.
The bike cutting out definitely made it harder. I have been introduced to a load more green lanes today, and the bike ran like clockwork. I’m using OsmAnd Maps, which is a free app (probably with optional purchases) and it works a treat. Even better now I know how to have the orientation set to ‘direction I’m pointed in at the top’, rather than North at the top. Many thanks 🙂👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 Thanks for the app info. I'll have a look at it. (update ) Just downloaded the free version My Himalayan a 2018, Euro 4, does cut out occasionally when the engine is still a bit cold. other than that I've had absolutely no problems with it at all. I went through France and down to the south of Spain on it last year, and am going to Albania on it in July. ( hopefully, with continued reliability ) Sounds like you've resolved your cutting out problem. That's good to hear.

Itchy Balls eh? Now listen, "extremely well prepared" and "stock tyres" is an oxymoron. Take it from somebody whose body thinks he's still 20 and whose brain thinks he's stupid. But seriously, your ride down lanes like that will be more fun with decent 50/50 tyres like Pireli Scorpions, Heidenaus or Mitas E07 (the latter is what I run), which the CEAT ones aren't. I've fallen flat on my arse in roughly identical conditions to what you're showing here, damp and mucky, so it's a credit to you for keeping the witch upright! Ride safe mate.
I thank you kindly. I actually fitted some Pirelli MT full on knobblies (after an embarrassing attempt at Angel Steps), and took on some good slippy rough stuff. Still kept it upright so far. I’m on Mich road biased at the moment which I fitted for a couple of big road trips, so once again useless off road 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks again and take care out there.
@@Saddlebags73 I only learned about the TET route on the weekend watching three chaps on C90’s doing it. Kiwi adventures I think it was. Funny as heck as when they got stuck they just lifted the bikes out. Nice & light zombie apocalypse bikes. 🤓
bet you lost a few pounds there ,, the best bike for those tight bits is [ i say again ] a wr 450 . the himo is nearly a quarter of a tonne . so its hard work , also with carpet slipper tyres , but a wr is nearly twice the price , the himo / witch is fine once back on tarmac where its weight holds it true and firm . ,, next subject = these bikes are so leaned down the spark plug has no chance to cool , so it and modern coil packs have a short life..
Yes, I was riding some more trails today and said myself that the bike isn’t ideal, due to weight and ground clearance. I considered WR/CRF but the Himalayan seemed more practical as it’s for work/shopping/occasional two up. All good fun though, whatever bike you’re on I reckon. Might get a booster plug to richen the mixture. Shame things are going that way. I think it’s the same for all new bikes now 🫤

Well done to tackle this part of the trail especially with a misbehaving Himalayan. Did you fit a standard plug or an iridium plug?
Hi Dave. Many thanks. I fitted an iridium plug. It already had an iridium plug which lasted roughly 4000 miles. I should probably carry a spare.
Good job there SB, you just about outdid my recent exploits with that one 😂
You did very well to cope with the stalling as you did, must have made the climb and the slow manoeuvring between those branches doubly difficult.
As you say, probably about as sketchy as you would want to go when riding on your own, looked very rough in places, easy to take a tumble.
Nice to see you tackling the TET and we all enjoyed the heavy breathing, I'm sure 😜
I hope that overall you enjoyed the experience, otherwise there is no point in doing it.
All the best and love from us both,
ER ( El Otro ).
No heavy breathing either 🙂
I’m quite happy exploring alone but I need to learn where to draw the line. I want to get home for a nice drop of vino in the evening 🤣
I look forward to more of your adventures too.
I'm desperate to explore some more trails myself but at the same time I do have a lot of sympathy for Buddy and neither do I want to get stuck with those tyres on and need recovery 🤔
I suppose I can ride the same trail again, I know I can get down it on those tyres and this time I will have luggage on the bike, so I can take that sandwich and cup of tea with me 😛
As soon as the Classic is run in, I will definitely take it down that same trail, just for comparison.
Take care Jeff, back to work 😜

@@economicalrides what3words is a good idea 👍🏼
Ooh a picnic, yessss 🤣
Urgh! Ok, work 😞
Great video and inspired me to explore a bit of the TET funny it runs past my front door down near st austell , Can i ask what mapping you use ?
You should definitely give it a go. I was introduced to miles of trails yesterday, and had a fantastic time.
I’m using OsmAnd app (free version), and downloaded the TET map from the official website, and imported it into the app.
The TET runs within a quarter of a mile of my home too 🙂
Many thanks, and best of luck 👍🏼
Green lanes are one thing, SB, but part of that trail would make a trip through the Amazon jungle look easy. Well done for tackling it. Surely the Enfield warranty should cover the stalling problem?
It was a bit tougher than I had anticipated, I must admit.
My warranty is void as I am servicing the bike myself. All sorted with a fresh spark plug though, thankfully 🙂
Many thanks Jim 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 I look forward to it! The trail, not the scratchy scratch! 😂😂
@@Motoramblings 🤣🤣🤣
Nice video! Can I ask what you did with your exhaust? It looks stock, but sounds much better than mine.
Don’t mention it, it’s always nice to chat. It would be interesting to hear how you get on. It sounds good and adventurous.
All the best, Jeff.
All the best Lester.
Nothing like planning ahead. That’s a trip of epic proportions. Wow! 10 weeks would be a dream for me 👍🏼
I used to take my Him offroad a few of times and I have to say"its not that good, its a heavy old beast and abit too wide around your calf area, still it was fun watching you huff and puff... My bike has never had anything like a stalling prob,,, but changing tyres was a challenge..
I’ve been out in the lanes again today, and at one point I actually said “it isn’t the ideal bike for it”, due to weight and ground clearance.
Less huff and puff today, and no stalling thankfully, since changing the plug. I’ve changed the rear tyre, that was easy enough…with a machine 🤣
Many thanks lipsee 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 I wanted to go to your meet ,but life got in the way... I just fitted new tyres,,oh my goodness refitting that rear wheel ,, what a mega faff ..had to have a beer or three afterwards,,regards
@@lipsee100 ah shame you couldn’t come. Life has a habit of doing that.
Haha 😂, perhaps you should have had a beer or three before fitting the wheel. It might not have helped, but would have been less stressful 🤪
I thought you will loose that phone on that bumpy part ;) Looks like fun to me but I know I would kill myself quite fast, haha... Itchy Balls is a good name :D :D :D
The phone mount cost me a fortune. It better not bloody fall off 🤣
Yea it was a bit tougher than I had anticipated, but great fun.

Brill explore SB :-) really enjoyed that. Am really glad you have since sorted the stalling issue.
Hahaha... did you end up in a farmers field? :D he seemed a friendly chap! :D
Cheers Hippo 🙂 So much better with the engine running properly. I was given a guided tour last weekend of many green lanes. Love it.
No, I ventured down a private drive that was adjoining a farm. He was nice as pie about it 😊
@@Saddlebags73 oh wow, hope you had the cameras going for the green lane ride?
@@HippoDrones I did. There was miles and miles of it so I’ll have to sift through it all and pick the bestest bits 🙂
@@Saddlebags73 awesome stuff 👏
Missed this one. Dodgy roads, maybe I'll find some on the BMW 😂🤣😅
I’ve been shown some great lanes recently. I show you 😁
That looked pretty tricky stuff to me.
(update ) Just downloaded the free version
My Himalayan a 2018, Euro 4, does cut out occasionally when the engine is still a bit cold. other than that I've had absolutely no problems with it at all. I went through France and down to the south of Spain on it last year, and am going to Albania on it in July. ( hopefully, with continued reliability )
Sounds like you've resolved your cutting out problem. That's good to hear.
@@Jaffa1951 Wow! You’re doing some big trips.
Yes stalling all sorted. Running like a dream now, apart from on cold start. But that’s ok.
Hope the app works well for you 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 Thanks for the app info. Glad you've got the cutting out problem sorted.
Why does it keep on stalling? Please have it checked. This is weird issue in BS6 models only. Might be the fuel pump relay.
It was the spark plug. Runs great now 🙂👍🏼
Itchy Balls eh?
I’m on Mich road biased at the moment which I fitted for a couple of big road trips, so once again useless off road 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks again and take care out there.
Not ideal with a bike that keeps cutting out. Looks fun though. I’ll give it a whirl one day.
All that over a spark plug 🤦🏻♂️ The bike has been great off road since, and yea it’s a lot of fun. Many thanks 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 I only learned about the TET route on the weekend watching three chaps on C90’s doing it. Kiwi adventures I think it was. Funny as heck as when they got stuck they just lifted the bikes out. Nice & light zombie apocalypse bikes. 🤓
Ah I’ve seen several vids with C90’s off road. That must be a scream 🤣
Mate that trail was hardly narly 😂 H.R pufnstuf 😂😂
Did you miss the slimy boulder field on an almost vertical climb? Tackled on an underpowered 200kg bike. Gnarly as hell 🤪
bet you lost a few pounds there ,, the best bike for those tight bits is [ i say again ] a wr 450 . the himo is nearly a quarter of a tonne . so its hard work , also with carpet slipper tyres , but a wr is nearly twice the price , the himo / witch is fine once back on tarmac where its weight holds it true and firm . ,, next subject = these bikes are so leaned down the spark plug has no chance to cool , so it and modern coil packs have a short life..
I think it’s the same for all new bikes now 🫤
More heavy breathing than a late night porn channel going up those lanes 🤣 Seriously impressive stuff. That stalling issue looks really annoying hope you are able to get it sorted 👍 Entertaining as ever, like the Itchy Balls channel name 🤔
Running like a dream now with a new spark plug. I can’t blame that for the huffing and puffing though I suppose 🤣
Thanks Bandit! scratch scratch 🤪
Don't assume the gender of the trans Euro trail.
I've always been tempted to do this on a crap bike. It has to be done
I wouldn’t assume but I wish it would make its mind up.
I was introduced to miles of trails yesterday. The guy that was giving me a tour was on a 4 stroke 125 (I believe you’ve met but he didn’t know who you were 🤣) and it was one of the most fun days I’ve had on a bike.
