I've just swapped out the friction pulley on my one. Luckily I had a donor machine I could raid the part from. It was a bit of a challenge but got there in the end and it sure has made a difference. I like your idea of just glueing a strip of leather onto the old one though. I imagine that could be done with the pulley in situ. A bit fiddly but probably not as fiddly as taking the pulley out and putting it back in again.
Thank you so much for the video! That's exactly what seems to be happening with mine. Although I have no skills to do it myself! 🙈 Got my Elna from a lovely sir who used to fix sewing machines as a hobby, bit I'm on the other side of the world now, he's in NSW, Australia. But your video is very helpful as I can try to find a handyman who can try to fix it with your instructions. Cheers!
I am having the problem that you fixed, I love that you are so natural and funny. The left hand side knob is the tension for the bobbin to loosen or tighten, The knob that you improvised on the right hand side, is the length for the stitches. Check a you tube video on how to use it. I think it's great that you are mending your own clothes. Good on you.
For Elna Star 62C (SU) machines that have no motor belt. If the motor pulley is damage or slipping. This part can be expensive or not available. Check out my solution to Elna motor pulley repair at very little cost at ua-cam.com/video/mpNmeSZ6_HE/v-deo.html
Hi Steve thanks i think your solution is probably better than mine probably more grip but the only problem is that many people dont have the skill or machinery for that , i do so i may try it, it looks promising.
I salute you sir. You are great.
