Rocket League actually does have a physical aspect to it, albeit a typically small one and it is mostly mental. Being able to move your fingers in exactly the way you want them to move is extremely important. Most people don't seem to struggle with this much, but I've experienced it a lot. I have a severe anxiety disorder and when I play competitively, a lot of times I get very anxious and my hands start shaking uncontrollably, which prevents me from controlling my car nearly as well as usual - I may flip the wrong way on accident, whiff a ball because my thumb twitched the stick the wrong way, hit jump on accident from my thumb shaking, etc. and there are people with more serious disorders or injuries/defects that physically prevent them from reaching their full potential. But yeah, average people have a good amount of control over their hands so in those cases it is 100% mental.

I have noticed in the past that on the days I don't go to the gym and get a workout in (I.e. the weekend, where I have the most time to play rl) I tend to play significantly worse. Sometimes I only get an hour to play on the weekdays but even so I've climbed up to 1300 Elo only to drop down to 1150 on the weekend when I should be playing better because I have more time to warmup. Long story short, thanks for reminding me that even if I'm on a rest day and don't go into the gym that going on a 30 min walk is still an exercise and a great way to get the blood moving. Also just getting your diet in check in general will make you feel like you have a lot more energy throughout the day.

Because then I am forcing myself to be conscious of the whereabouts of the man who is backing me up when I’m first. I also think “what are my opponents doing?” and just from this mindset I’ve been able to outplay my opponents a ton and now I’m close to Diamond 3 and still going higher!

I am pretty sure the reason you saw results was actually because of your mentality, like you were given advice for doijng this and trusted them so when u did something good you got the confidence and the push to do better. SO yes mental strength is key

Yeah he doesn't know what he's talking about. Different hand sizes, distribution of muscle fiber types, number of motor neurons controlling the fingers that determine dexterity. These all will change outcomes between people.

I'd love to take on such a routine and dedicate more time for growth, but I feel like I have no time at all :( Very good video ! It would have been cool to do a overall recap at the end, total games won vs total games lost, average lp gains etc for those 5 days
