I have officially reached my limit and cannot consume any more draft related content. At this point just get it over with and tell me who we pick, 2 weeks can’t come fast enough.
Great follow up / clarifying questions Tom! There’s so much information reviewed here that’s not being talked about on other channels. Thank you, nice job gents!
Isn't it fun to watch Curran try to keep Albert on track with questions? It's like watching someone trying to reel in a Marlin that is all over the place. Curran testing his relationship with Phil in their opposite opinions on which QB to select? Great podcase episode!
This is the first time I've heard of people saying because a guy's family played sports in college, that's a plus for the guy. Outside of your family literally playing great on the pro level, why are we bringing up a guy's family? They're athletic, cool.
21:25 7 seasons under Harbaugh before McCarthy became the starter: 62-24 = 72.94% win percentage. 1 conference title. 2 seasons under Harbaugh after McCarthy became the starter: 27-1 = 93.10% win percentage. 2 conference titles. 1 national title.
The other thing that is ignored with bias is the fact that the talent of the teams on the schedule where is the strength of the schedule for the analysis of the talent shown.
I want Maye he's going to get better and better. He didn't have the weapons or protection the other QB'S had and was still super competitive. He just a kid and he's 6'4" 235 lbs he's going to fill out and get a little heavier. He's already got a cannon arm and thats going to get stronger he needs a little work on his footwork and accuracy drills. I definitely wouldn't be bummed out to get Daniels instead but I definitely lean towards Maye.
Tom's caveats on Maye make me wonder something more generally: I've heard a LOT of analysis of the QBs, but very little about one specific trait: processing. I've seen it mentioned anecdotally, but not comprehensively and not by itself.
Jj has been in way more “tougher” challenging times! Look up Drake Maye’s performance under pressure. His last 5 games in 2022. His strength of schedule both years. What happened to his numbers after losing top two WR in 2022.
Tom thanks for trying to keep them on task as best you could cuz bias should not be apart of analysis comparisons between players are expected to describe a athlete but use a veteran player not someone in the same draft class. A Heisman trophy winner comparison to a mid level quarterback in the same class makes it seem like the football played last season was a joke.
You all left out one pro and one con between Maye and McCarthy. JJ throws to the left side of the field (pro) and Maye does not (con). All in all this was an excellently objective show from everyone.
Alright I’m sold on Maye. Based on what I’ve learned from all this draft content, Daniel’s is a good runner but scrambles too much, JJ is more of a “game manager” being on an amazing team, hasn’t needed to be “the guy” and Maye has a good mix of passing/rushing/game managing skills. So LFG, now we need a cool nickname for him lol
Hey Tom, JJ is NOT small or "squat." He's six feet 3.2 inches tall. He's just wide and muscular -- both good for durability. Please do your homework! And not one of you talked about IQ or intelligence, two related and very important attributes that, as Mr. Wolf surely knows, often foretell future potential. Gentlemen, please level up your game.
Phil has no idea what he’s talking about with McCarthy‘s arms. Saying he can’t throw out of the pocket? McCarthy had the best completion percentage when throwing out of a scramble out of all of these guys completed 71% of his passes when scrambling, Drake may completed 31%, Drake maze throwing breaks down when he’s uncomfortable McCarthy’s does not
I think Phil and Bert are drastically under selling JJ’s athleticism and upside. I don’t get how someone with his skills at his age and they act as if he has no upside.
I think it’s interesting that Jayden’s age was too old but Joe Burrow wasn’t 🤨🤨🤨 Joe burrow didn’t start until LSU - didn’t do anything good til LSU but Jayden’s “experience” is a shot against him? Interesting
Leave it to the biggest no talent in sports podcasting to have a bs subject like this. Phil being a good soldier here. Working with Curran must be so wonderful for you. 😢😢😢😢
Good lord, I truly wish that when these “so-called” pundits/talent evaluators state their reasons or better yet their “pros” as to why they think that a particular prospect is going to be good at their position, that they would STOP IT with all the, “They came from a family of athletes soooo…..” That has to be one of the DUMBEST talking points that I’ve heard during this pre-draft process! Does one’s environment have an influence on their perspective, sure. But will it dictate their ability to read a coverage, throw on the run, call out the “Mike” or make a hot read? Absolutely not! I get it, most of the TV/Podcast analysts keep trying to make Drake Maye happen, but using his athletic brothers and dad as a metric, to me is a reach and just plain silly!
OK THIS THE DIFFERENT! DRAKE MAYE HIGH CEILING ACCURATE TOO BUT NO FOOTWORK POSSIBLE LOTS OF SACKS, JJ MCCARTHY NOT HIGHT CEILING BUT HIGH MOBILITY ACCURATE TOO AND HAVE FOOTWORK, JAYDEN DANIEL ACCURATE TOO BUT LESS THROWING BALL AND ALWAYS RUN! POSSIBLE HE BECOME MOVES LIKE CAM NEWTON 2.0 AND CALEB WILLIAMS JUST INCASE HIS OK TOO GOOD FOOTWORK ACCURATE BUT TAKE TOO LONG TO THROWING THE BALL.
I have officially reached my limit and cannot consume any more draft related content. At this point just get it over with and tell me who we pick, 2 weeks can’t come fast enough.
Same here, same stuff jumbled around.
Same lol
I’ll see you in the next video!!!😂😂😂
We need to fix the NFL schedule. Even the media shit on it and basically admit we say random shit at this point just for content.
This is what being a crappy team is like, draft is bigger than regular season. Ask Jets fans, draft is always the most/only exciting part of the year
Love when Tom "tries" to debate with Phil...he loses every time then pouts throughout the entire podcast....rinse and repeat 😂😂😂
Tom is still hung up on the belief that we should trade back. He's been extra grumpy lately!
hahaha
He goes the opposite of the masses, he now wants JJ over Maye. Lol
It's kind of uncomfortable. Phil kind of has his number. It's like a son always has a zinger for his dad kind of deal.
We want brady
This podcast is the best breakdown of the potential Patriots QBs I have ever heard on this subject 🙌 👌 👏
Lol they brought in Bert to keep the peace
that is exactly why. tom has good feel. he knew pod was getting a little uncomfortable. grownups fighting over liking different QBs. America.
Great follow up / clarifying questions Tom! There’s so much information reviewed here that’s not being talked about on other channels. Thank you, nice job gents!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Idk how people can still do this, I’m starting to have dreams about these QBs 😂
I love the look on Tom’s face when people are saying things that you can tell he doesn’t agree with!
Great conversation guys

For the teams taking qb early, which team has the best offensive line and which team has the worst o line?

Look even if daniels is there im still taking drake maye

Zero second half deficits. Average lead of 14 points at half. There’s almost no challenge there.
Lol now I'm starting to really like Daniels damn it.
What’s the over/under on Phil yelling at Tom this episode. "USE YOUR HEAD THOMAS"

Those highlights off the drake are incredible

You got that backwards. JJ, with his baseball stride, struggled throwing to the left side of the field.

Maye day

Tom and Phil seemed very very very NOTICEABLY pissed 😤 about Prince Albert running on and on!!! They want to get back to chilling.
Why is Cris Simms so against Drake Maye as a number 3 pick ?
Will the draft hurry up I’m tired of everyone flip flopping on picks
Who is Tom to say someone else in take entrenched when he over the past 3 years has become the most take entrenched patriots journo.
Well thanks guys you just convinced Washington to take McCarthy. It is Daniels vs. Maye guys!
QB Draft, me , at least they wont raise the Ticket Prices 😊😊😊.
Draft Drake Maye!!!!!!
J J McCarthy is not a number 3 draft pick.... jfc.
Jj is not short. 6.2 taller than the #1
I think it’s interesting that Jayden’s age was too old but Joe Burrow wasn’t 🤨🤨🤨 Joe burrow didn’t start until LSU - didn’t do anything good til LSU but Jayden’s “experience” is a shot against him? Interesting
Jesus fuck. Not everything is about race. We weren’t drafting that high when burrow was out of college.
Trade down and take Penix at 11
We could make a mistake, be horrible and have a top 3 pick next year gonna suck but Riley Leonard is the best QB in 25
Leave it to the biggest no talent in sports podcasting to have a bs subject like this. Phil being a good soldier here. Working with Curran must be so wonderful for you. 😢😢😢😢
Phil looks like he’s falling asleep
Curran is clueless
McCarthy has a rocket launcher~

Precision, not accuracy, describes the inability to be "consistently accurately."
Nerd alert 🚨
Phils Head is going to explode.
Tom E Curran doesnt know how to cover a team without Tom Brady or Bill.
