- Actress Jean Stapleton died at the age of 90-years-old. Charlie Rose reports on Stapleton's career and the character that made her famous - the naive and endearing Edith Bunker, from CBS's "All in the Family."
She played an incredibly loveable kind and caring woman. Her lines were perfect for her too and boy could she deliver them with authenticity.
Best well written show ever . 4 people who did a great job .
She was awesome, the show will always have a special place in my heart. It is sad but she lived a long life, 90 years old is a full life
Duh
Jean Stapleton was in my opinion the greatest actrist of all time. I love you Edith Bunker!!!
Thank you Jean Stapleton for spreading your love and light. Your portrayal of Edith Bunker will be loved forever
All in the Family was one of the best shows of all time along with four great actors. They don't make shows like this anymore.
I watch this show STILL
The reason she only won 3 Emmys is because if she got all the Emmys she deserved, she'd win every year and nobody else would ever get one.
She was the best.
I loved her as Edith & Jean Stapleton
These people were like family to me . I miss them both .
They recorded an album

I Remember it Well is my favorite tune
One of the best TV shows around.Lot of heart of joy.
All of them were brilliant actors. When they got into arguments and were screaming and hollering at each other for a few minutes I was always amazed how they managed to remember all their lines. It was a hilarious show. One of the all time greats.
I love Jean and Carroll my God bless the two of them Carroll Jean R I P
Can you imagine if we had a whole world of edith bunker what a beautiful place the world would be
That would mean everyone would be dumb and annoying. Jean was a great actress though may she R.I.P
So true
Her portrayal of Edith Bunker is one of the greatest in the history of television. She made the show palatable. Without her Archie and Meat Heads' bloviating would've been too harsh for audiences.
I love Jean Stapleton. So sincere in her portrayal and her real life.
I love all in the family and still watch episodes occassionally either on UA-cam or TV.
Best show ever!
My mother was always trying to imitate that same voice with as Jean Stapleton did with my dad during the time it was on. Every week in my room heard them laughing at all in the family. My mother and dad were in the age as they were. Every week I heard the song. 🤗
I've been watching the re runs and have been lol and sure enjoying them for the very first time..Jean was one of my favorites..RIP⚘
Thanks for the memories (and laughs), Jean.....
Wer passing marks the end of an era. Jean was an amazing talent, the like of which may never be seen again.
+Arthur Cabral now we have kardashian shows to keep us entertained. God shoot me now.
+funkmex75 Tell me about it....
I still watch All In The Family all the time on TV. Such a great show to watch. I also love The Honeymooners. That's another classic right there. I know it was a few years ago now, but R.I.P Jean Stapleton... 90 years is a good long life even for a woman, as women live longer than men on the average. I hope I make 90 as long as I'm healthy, not in a lot of pain, and I haven't lost my mind lol.
Best Show EVER on TV. There has never been or will be another show like All In The Family!! Nothing But CRAP FAKE REALITY Shows now--TV is disgusting. Funny how everything changed for the worse, TV, music, Life as we used to know it. RIP ArChie & Edith. We shared some wonderful years with you.
REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS ALL JUNK YELLING AND SCREAMING AND FIGHTING

This was a great show that I grew up watching every week, one of the best sitcoms of all time in my opinion, great memories for me for sure!!!!
She was one of the most iconic TV characters of the twentieth century, they just don't make them like this anymore. Loved you so much Ms. Stapleton and miss your talents and your kindness. RIP
The character Edith was a sweet ole soul.
Her warmth reminded me of my great grandmother who would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it, a great character done by a great actress that for sure!!!!
Enjoying the Thanksgiving All of "All in the Family" Weekend Marathon! I just can't get over Archie's craziness and Edith's unconditional dedication to her husband. "Stiful yourself Edith".......lol
rest in peace Jean

I was only 10 and didn't understand all of it, but my folks always watched!
Such an incredible show. TV like this will never be again.
She was awesome as Edith. They show helped me see my parents a different way. I wasn't watching strangers on TV. It was like a reflection of us at home, and all done with wonderful humor and perfect timing. That Episode with Sammy Davis Jr, is one of the most hilarious things ever on the small screen, and who was a fan of that show that doesn't think of Edith when they see cans if Cling Peaches in the supermarket. They broke all of the rules.
I think you mean... Cling peaches in HEAVY SYRUP, don't you? Lol
the show was the best and honest show in that era. funny and honest. they don't make shows like that any more. they were all great actors.
I love Jean Stapleton, she made all in the family, she was a wonderful woman
Thank you Ms Stapleton for many, laughs! You are the GOAT of TV mom’s and such a brilliant actress! 👏👏👏
...those were the days... :)
A Comedic genius, All in the Family wouldn't been the same,RIP Ms Stapleton.
Loved this show. Wonderful spirit
Stil watch this show,,great comedy
I will always know her as Edith Bunker, her and O'Conner are the most memorable tv couples ever
Jean Stapleton and Carroll O'Connor are both legends. I think they went down as tv icons never to be forgotten. Like Lucille ball and Desi arnaz they are in the same league. Rest in peace to all of them.
Thank you jean/edith for showing the wisdom love and humor in women. Rip❤🌹
edith bunker was the glue of the family. she loved archie no matter what crazy thing he said or did.she loved her family and she was devoted wife and mom and friend to all.jean stapleton was the best.my she rest in peace.good night sweet edith!
Edith clearly demonstrated what "'Til death do us part" really means while, at the same time, the importance of choosing wisely before marriage.
I'm watching right now on my 32 year old tv
I never knew about Jean Stapleton until she brought Edith to life in All in the Family. ... which is the absolute BEST TV show ever produced!
Edith was the polish that Archie needed in order to be accepted in society. Ms Stapleton did a brilliant job creating Edith, the warmest, kindest and most forgiving human being. She saw the good in everybody, even Archie.
This world has been blessed by watching Edith weekly on CBS gliding through life with Archie, Mike , Gloria and eventually Joey, her beloved grandson. God Bless Jean Stapleton for her work on Edith & on all of her work she did for our enjoyment. A real special lady she was and always will be.
RIP. I loved show
I was in middle school when this series aired. Had a close friend whose mom was kinda like Edith. Seemed a little goofy, but she was really nice and so pleasant to you when you came into her home. And I knew that if I ever got in trouble, this lady would not only help me out, but was actually smart enough to know what to do...
My favorite show. Classic.
One of the best Tv shows of all time
Each show was so well written and acted, like a one act play.
Excellent cast and wonderful story lines!
Some of us who saw "All In The Family" first-run had the feeling that we were watching a classic unfold, week after week. RIP, Jean/Edith!
They don't make em like that anymore...
Edith was portrayed as being dumb but she was actually the smarter of the two. She had the purest heart and real people who are that way are judged in error for having an innocent mind and spirit.
The acting by everyone in that cast was phenomenal! Both Carroll & Jean were brilliant in real life. They were so good at playing it down too. When you can fool your audience to the point that they're actually surprised at how well spoken, and smart you are the first time they hear you in an interview, that is what acting is all about.
I still love to watch All In The Family all the time :)
Chris'sVids79 Exactly! I was too young to understand the story line when it first aired but now I'm watching all the reruns and I can't stop watching it, love the 2 main characters. Brilliant acting, no wonder it was the top show 5 years in a row.
HKH HKH I totally agree
100 percent. I love the kindness and wisdom of Edith Bunker.
She was wise when it mattered.
I always welcomed her with open arms.
"open noses", LOL!! I loved that one.
edith bunker is my favorite tv character.
My Gosh! I miss my favorite family! ❤
Jean Stapleton created an iconic character-No doubt about it!
We all.loved Edith . 😢❤🙏
Now Mike looks like Archie Bunker lol
+Tonetare TO BAD HE DOESN'T ACT LIKE HIM
LMFAO TOO GOOD You mean?! Lol!
Joe Mamma It's "too bad" and Archie Bunker mocked Republicans. I hope you realize that.
lolololl....No Archie didn't....Carrol Oconner did..
Tonetare: with exception of the beard. :)
I love this show I still watch it to this day I have the complete series and each actor was the best it had to be all. 4 of the main actors to make it right and it was
R.I.P.
Carroll O’Conner
(August 2nd,1924-
June 21st,2001)
and

(January 19th,1923-
May 31st,2013)
Jean Stapleton is a icon...
I still watch All in the family and still love it OMG I love Jean Stapleton!!! Rip honey .. is meathead still alive ?
Many critics say that Lucy, Clair, and Roseanne were great wives and mothers, they seem to forget about Edith Bunker. She was a WONDERFUL wife to Archie, mother and mom in law to Gloria and Meathead, grandma to Joey, and friend to Louise Jefferson. I miss her.
She was amazing!
A master class in acting.
Awesome show love it. She was a great actress.
Legendary!!! Loved her also in Baghdad Cafe
Kia I also loved her as Nana Silverberg on Murphy Brown. She is a legend.
Characters like Edith Bunker and Forest Gump always make me wish they really existed. RIP Jean..
My girl my show always still watch it till today
I love Jean Stapleton she was brilliant
We love you Jean! Rest Easy! 🙏🌹
They are both gone. :( RIP
What a wonderful, sweet character was Edith ❤ Played to perfection by Jean! 🤭🤗 a favorite episode is where Archie tells her to look at a magazine in waiting room. (Playgirl, with pictures of nude men! ) 😂
Jean made Edith loveable, strong and someone who stood her ground against Archie and his stubborn they'll never be another one and a "All in the Family"
Beautiful woman
Today Commemorates Jean Stapleton's 95th Birthday
My condolence to the family
I loved Edith so much it's such a good show no Fake stab in the back crap everything out in the open it was like real life not like now
I love Jean Stapleton and I love Edith rest in peace with the other angels .by the way the episodes In which she died in all of the family I refuse to look at , too emotional
Edith bunker was the one liberal that I actually loved she loved everyone she ever met and did it convincingly
R i p jean
Miss you Edith Bunker
Godbless you 🙏
RIP TO JEAN STAPLETON 💙💙💙😂🤣😘🙏🙏🙏.ONE OF TELEVISION BEST TO EVER DO IT!
R.I.P. Jean Stapleton
I love how Gayle at the end tries to say something clever about All in the Family but makes it obvious she never watched an episode ...
never will forget the lady. l loved her best in the movie micheal. with John travokta. pris.
At 3:00, actually it wasn’t Edith who’d tell Archie to go sit down after saying something jaw-dropping. No need for Metoo revisionism, because Gloria and Mike pushed back against Archie. But the brilliance of Edith’s character was that even though she was subservient, she was strong, stronger than Archie by her honesty and her values. A classic episode where she shows her strength is when Mike and Gloria are having a bad fight, and Gloria calls Edith a nothing. Amazing episode.
Finally stifled it after all those years.
She was in the original Broadway production of Bells Are Ringing with Judy Holliday!
I am so conservative but I love edith bunker how could you not
My grandfather was just like Archie even had a chair just like his Edith was just like my grandmother or I should say my grandmother was just like Edith
Like how when Edith tells Archie she's at the height of her sexual development, peak, whatever, for his information, poor poor Archie looks terrified!!! 🤗🤔😂😨🤣🤐..................Best and funniest sitcom ever!!!!
Edith was the best
I loved her without ding bat who knows smarter than u thought
Try making All in the Family today .
I like the episode where Edith had menopause and she finally stood up to Archie!
