John Lennon was a very good actor and given the right scripts, could have given Bowie a run for his money. Unlike McCartney, Lennon seemed so comfortable when acting.
I believe Anna Quayle won a Tony that year, or 63 for "Stop The World I want To Get Off." I recall on the DVD commentary she mentioned how natural John was as an actor, and that his timing and movement was just spot on. Too bad he thought acting was silly.
John was disappointed with how the spontaneity of a joke or any bit gets lost with each take requested by the director. It makes sense, given how John was known to prefer recordings of music over live performance.
Anna Quayle is just perfect. The whole film is stacked with wonderful British character actors - John Junkin & Norman Rossington are fantastic. And the scene with the teen "influencer" & George is timeless
Honestly this scene here has to go down in film history as the "Who are they talking about?" moment. I know it's a inside joke but I wanna know who is he supposed to look like anyways. I know he looks like himself BUT.....is he supposed to be someone else and who? lol Also this is my favorite part of the film besides the grandpa being "Very Clean"
He's pretending that he isn't john, that's all. Probably so he won't get chased down by a rabid fan girl😂😂😂 this is one of my favorite scenes too!! I also LOVE the part with George shavin and John in the tub🤣
I wish I knew the answer to that. Actors use improvisation to delve into their character or improve the script. No matter how this happened, it is genius.
Ringo: "What was it that first attracted you to me?" John: "Well, you're so polite, aren't you?"
John was so funny here. This is one of my favorite scenes from the movie.
AND that voice! OMG,that man’s voice is like an instrument,so lyrical❤️💔
Favourite scene in the movie haha his delivery is perfect considering they used to say they couldn't act haha
Maurice Maurice To me,he was the most natural one in the movie. I mean, they were all good, but John seemed the most at ease.
I thought John was a good actor and had that wonderful voice that I could listen to for ever.
0:08 That's Beatles friend and road manager Mal Evans carrying the stand up bass in this scene.
It's my favourite scene from the film.
Happy birthday john x
Dear old Mal's first acting scene.
That's Mal Evans walking through at :08!
Kayla C. Good spot!
You’re right! That is Mal Evans! Good catch!
Beautiful. I used to see Anna Quayle out n about in Brighton. Always meant to say thank you for 1 minute of delicious, expertly played comedy.
this and chitty bang bang, I loved her roles. I had always thought to write her but never did.
Rest In Peace, Anna Quayle ❤️
She obviously has a thing for John and is trying to flirt with him here.
Xanatos21 Well, who the hell would blame her? God,he was HOT🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@gretchennelson9965 yes he was
🤮
A lovely moment in 'HDN'... ' She looks more like him than I do'! bless!
John Lennon was a very good actor and given the right scripts, could have given Bowie a run for his money. Unlike McCartney, Lennon seemed so comfortable when acting.
So true, but, Bowie could at least get a chance to run for his money.
Bowie was shit, did you see him in merry Christmas Mr Lawrence,he was that wooden you could have used him as a plank.
The best Beatles actor was Ringo that’s why they made him the centre plot of Help
@@mickymac6571 Did you see Bowie in Last Temptation of Christ as Pilate?
John Lennon. What else is there to say?
omfg. He's so amazing. I love you so much, John.😘. Miss you more than you'd ever know. R.I.p my love.😇. I love you!😘
RIP Anna
It’s comforting to know that both his sons have seen this scene

The beautiful barones!
... He says No im not too soon :) LoL he speaks so soft and polite
Greatest scene!!
Anna Quayle (1932-2019)
So she was in her early thirties when this was filmed. They have her looking a lot older
Honestly this scene here has to go down in film history as the "Who are they talking about?" moment. I know it's a inside joke but I wanna know who is he supposed to look like anyways. I know he looks like himself BUT.....is he supposed to be someone else and who? lol

The woman thinks that John looks like John.
Of course he does
I couldn’t figue out, i thought maybe Buddy Holly because of her glasses 🤣
Anna Quayle was in the Avengers as a Russian spy who Mr. Steed charms.
and chitty bang bang as the baroness
@@franklintheman8310 Oh! I forgot that! Thanks for the reminder. :)
She was in Casino Royale as Frau Hoffner with similar dialogue... "You're insane, my child". 😁
Arguably the best scene in the movie! Lol
:) She looks more like him than I do :)
was this scene scripted???...its rumoured it wasnt...Just John's ingenius play acting.???...would love to know..?
I can believe it..lol...John was right on top of it.
I wish I knew the answer to that. Actors use improvisation to delve into their character or improve the script. No matter how this happened, it is genius.
It was scripted, but they went off script a little bit
hahaha, i just love this scene!! john
Amazing how Sir John’s 81 and still has a sense of humour 😊
The 'Alright, Noddy' is so Liverpool. Outwardly friendly but really taking the piss.
Genius.
When John leans back and says, "But you know him better" the entire scene changes.
And the smile she gives upon hearing "...it's all over the place" tells you what you need to know about what (or who) she's into.
This man is the definition of Sex!!! He is stunningly gorgeous! I love John Lennon!!! xxxxx
Daytripper Oh,you got that right. He is just fucking gorgeous.
You are right
He was always hubby material. 😍
0:49 look at his face, he's so cute!!!
YES! Oh,I just wanted to give him a BIG hug! God,he was SO cute. The man fairly oozed charisma.
I feel it's a combination of a sad face and a "suck it face"
That’s Mal Evans carrying the upright bass
Wow! Did not know that. I think the bass randomly coming through in its own way is the funniest part of the scene
Of all the Beatles I always thought John was the best Actor.
is this the actress from Chitty CHITTY BANG BANG ?THE KINGS. WIFE ?
+Louie Ramos yes, married to Goldfinger, so we're appropriately maintaining the Ian Fleming connection here.
+Setebos Thank YOU SHE LOOKS YOUNGER HERE !SHE LOOKS GOOD IN CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG !AS WELL THANK YOU FOR THE INFO !HAVE A NICE DAY !
Anna Quayle
"No, I am NOT Billy Shears"
"That's what you say"
Who DOESN'T look like John? The guy playing him in the tribute band we saw today. And the other 3 looked even less so!
OH! That *is* the woman who played Frau Hoffner in "Casino Royale"! I thought she looked familiar but I couldn't tell for sure.... :-)
She looks more like him than i do.....lol
😆
One of my favorite scenes, actually. Not sure why.
It's just a bit surreal which adds an edge to it.
This looks like improvisation but whatever...it is genius.
well this scene is in the script
@@macca154 What - even the "Alright Noddy" bit?
Anna was the baroness in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Great actress.
so underrated!
@@franklintheman8310 Yes she was. Hilarious character actress.
Rob Bourassa she was my idea of sexy in ccbb , ever see her in arrivederci baby?
SHE is Anna Quayle, and she's wonderful. Even in that sickening "Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang" and the 1968 "Casino Royale," Anna Quayle walks on water.
"You look just like him!" "You're the first one that said that, ever." 😉 So she grabs the lamp to show him-like he's never looked in a mirror. 🤦🏽♂
Who is she saying Joh Lennon looks like?
like John Lennon
No one knows. That's part of the joke.
Like John lol
It's possible she saw Ringo and John had fun playing around with her - such incredible acting, Johnny -- we miss you, lad.
Brian Epstein is the one in costume who walks between them.
No. Brian's in the club Paul's grandfather goes to
My eyes are lighter? He hace hazle eyes?
Ha I agree with you
The Baroness.
.. i think he knows what she was going to say XDD
Anna Quayle! same women who played the baroness in Chitty chitty bang bang
So there were two of them?
English cougar
Mrs Monroe.
its about the lady think that john is ringo because she says his nose and and she says ringo and ringo has the big nose in the band
Before becoming Baroness of Vulgaria, she was found flirting with John Lennon. 😝😝😝😝
Alright Noddy 😂
I think they're talking about Paul and she does look more like Paul 😆
This is so funny
Back when John was funny, and before that cancer Yoko
Michael Whitaker So right. Ugh😖
????? this is so random and unnecessary... you dont have to like her but.. if youre his fan the least you can do is respect his wife
Alright noddy
