I have picked a ton more since this video. More string variations, classical strings, a lot more vintage shirts and very hard to find accessories. Such a fun collection to put together.
Come on elixir it's been long enough, time for them to finally hire Scott! I never would have tried them without you championing the polywebs back in the day
Hey Dr. Groovy! Hope all is well with you and Rosie! Really enjoyed this video. I just really dig seeing stuff like this. Takes me back lol! I see this as a history lesson for me. Thanks for all you do my friend! Stay Groovy! ✌️
Having seen all that stuff in the background in your past videos I just assumed you opened a store locally.😂🤣😆 I guess you might have the beginnings of a new museum. I'd name it the GAS museum. 👍😁
Thanks, Scott! I never would have gotten into Elixirs were it not on the strength of your recommendation. Now I have them on all my "backline" guitars and they last for YEARS. Haven't had to change the strings on all my acoustics since 2016!
Great to hear from you my brother! Yeah, you can throw a set on your axes and it's like putting a tarp over stuff in a storage shed...just dust them off after a decade or so and they fire up like new.
So this collection of Elixir strings is basically to collect all the ones produced by the company. I remember some vids criticizing the quality of the Nanos vs poly and that you would only buy up the polys.
Correct. Just doing the full collection. Polys are the only ones I actually use. I still have a good amount of the Poly bass strings as well, they were discontinued a LONG time ago.
I'll never forget the first time I felt these strings. My buddy Steve or Homo as we call him. He had a set on his guitar and I was like what the heck are these! Never felt anything like them! Before that I always played Ernie Ball. Recently I tried a set of Dadario high end coated strings. I'm sold on those too.
LOL, Yeah, I was also an Ernie guy until the singer in one of my bands bought me a package of Elixirs when they first came out. I've tried the High End strings as well and liked them too. They came in a guitar case of an axe I bought.
Much love and respect Scott! Thanks for the History lesson about these strings. I can't believe that you can still find packs fom that far back, that are in such great shape! I remember when I had no idea what to do about guitar strings, when I got my first electric (because of your influence) and began trying to "self learn" and stumbled onto your You Tube channel years ago.. Best thing that You Tube ever did for me! You recommended these strings and I have been using them from then on :). I'm not a "muscian" like so many of you are, I got into guitars for mental therapy and it has been a wonderful journey, even with some of the frustrations.. Many late into the nights have passed, picking and finding subtle new skills and paths to smiles and satisfaction, forgetting.. When I call you "Dr. Groovy", I mean it Brother! You will never know what you and your guitar knowledge and sharing and great personality, sense of humor have done to help ease the load. Take nothing for granted, it's a short ride.. God Speed!
Thanks so much my old friend! I'm so glad that you've found my ramblings to be helpful in that way. Makes me feel great. Nice to know I have a couple of GROOVY friends out there. I hear ya, I'm gonna hit 60 next year and I just don't know where the hell the time went. lol
@@groovydjs Hey Scott! Thanks for the reply. I'll be 68 this year and yes, time seems to pass quick when you get older for sure! Our spirit stays the same and we think that we can still do the things that we did when we were a lot younger.. and that is what gets me into trouble! :) Stay Strong and keep punching is all we can do. Love your Easy Blues Lesson! Thanks for that one my friend! :)
I can't imagine using anything else. I get guitars that come in and they have new "whatever" strings on them and I just cut them off right away and toss the Elixirs on and go from there on the setup.
This is too cool, you've turned me into an Elixir consumer myself & I've never turned away. I still may use a FRESH set of Ernie Slinkys here and again. I hope to come across some cool Elixir merch like you have here.
Call me Mr Nerdy! Cuz this was cool. I remember a video you did where you mentioned Elixer strings and you had a preference but I can’t recall if you preferred the polyweb or the nanowebs? I didn’t know about the optiwebs until this vid! Anyway, thanks for another vid!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I'm all about the Polywebs. The optiwebs are the thinnest coating yet. Supposed to have the least effect on the NORMAL string sound. I'll toss a set on and see how they do for me.
Hey my man. All is great here. Playing music with a band again, having a good time with that. Between that and giving private lessons here at the crib, I sometimes forget to post any content on here. I hope you are groovy!
Elixer strings. Pros. A bit less left hand string squeak. Stay brighter longer. Cons. A bit duller at the outset. Spoil the intonation when the coating wears off at the right hand. Cost too much.
Ive been using elixir strings for over 12 years, I've noticed the b strings have been snapping putting them on all three of my guitars lately. Other than that i love them! 😂
Never had that problem at all. So sorry that it happened to you. I've left strings on some guitars for years and zero problems. I love these things. I hope you found a brand that works for you.

Hey my man. Yeah, they should give me a job...this music and UA-cam thing isn't really paying the bills. lol

Way too funny. I'm gonna use that one.

LOL. Yeah, GAS for sure. I just found a couple more items the night after doing the video. I lucked out again.
This is great! You're still the best, Dr. Groovy!
Thanks much brother!
As an Elixir fan myself I do appreciate this. Very nice collection!
Thank you very much. I'm so glad that you REALLY enjoy it.
Impressive collection, Dr Groovy! Thank you for sharing it with us!

This is awesome, Scott! I enjoyed seeing your collection.
Thanks brother. I figured that a couple of you all would like to know what that junk is hanging on the wall. lol
Very cool collection….
Too cool scott. ❤

We have the same story. lol

I don't collect 'em, but I'm glad you talked me into playing Elixir strings. The play well and last a long time.

You should! It's SOMETHING to do in your spare time. lol At least this video will be a guide as to what is available out there somewhere.
I find it very cool.

Happy to see you doing some more "talking" videos. Would love to see more dude!

Best strings ever
For sure!
Wow!
They need to give you a Sponsor ship.👍
That's what I'm thinking too. lol
Hi old buddy. Been a minute since I've seen your videos. Hope all is well.
So, would you recommend them for a blues player? Thanks!
Ive been using elixir strings for over 12 years, I've noticed the b strings have been snapping putting them on all three of my guitars lately.
Other than that i love them! 😂
Interesting! I've never broken a string in all these years. That's a strange one.
when are they going to make 8's?
They probably won't. Not enough demand for them.
I am DESPERATE to get one of those 12-pack boxes. elixir refused me directly.
I hear you. I had to finally just get mine from Ebay.
Which one did you like better, the nano or poly web ? I remember you liking one and dissing the other. But it was a long time ago.
I'm still digging the Polywebs. I've got a couple hundred sets of those here...so, I'll stick with 'em. lol
Scott was stringing us along with his collection until today….
LOL, I see what you did there.
I bought a pack of elixers once, and the B string broke ten minutes after I put it on. Totally not worth the hype for overpriced strings.
Never had that problem at all. So sorry that it happened to you. I've left strings on some guitars for years and zero problems. I love these things. I hope you found a brand that works for you.
Your as bad as me except I collect fishing lures..
Then you know the pain of the chase. lol
