My budget option was to install two standard jets to the gromits next to the wiper arms. Then just used a T to split the original pipe in to two. I do like this however.
The best , most efficient and cheapest way to solve this problem is to just to split the washer hose and run a length along each wiper arm to the centre . Hold in place with cable ties and construct a pin hole for the end of the tube . This way the water sprays directly on the screen at close range following the stroke of the wiper. You can even extend the hose beneath the bonnet and wrap it around the heater inlet pipe a few times to warm up the screenwash on frosty mornings !.....probably cost about £15 for all the bits !!
Funnily enough I didn't think the wash pattern on my Puma was that bad. Obviously the spray pattern was not as good as your finished example but was it worth £200 to implement? It does tend to make the nearly £700 for the ORE wheel carrier a bit of a bargain. Great video as usual but I'll pass on fitting this to my truck. It looks like cosmetic surgery is a good practise to be in, as very few people seem to be happy with the way they look.
A cheaper fix is to buy 2 standard jets, fit one each side into the left hand drive wiper holes and plumb them up with some new hose, remove the centre jet and plug the hole with a blind gromit. Costs under £20 and gives you 4 jets of washer fluid.
Oh dear… I thought I was done with upgrades! Great video. Drove my TD5 to work today, tried to clean the screen and was thinking that I can pee harder than the standard washer…… and I’m over 60!!😂😂
That’s fantastic ! It is pathetic really that an off-road vehicle that is built for dirt and mud has a washer system inapt of clearing the windscreen. Well done in the fitting especially the dash removal - I need to look into this.
Well done! You gave a great presentation for a great product. That one will add to pride of ownership, I think. I will check out that company to see if they make any products for my L322.
I'm on the fence with this one, I hadn't actually seen the standard spray pattern of a Defender until I got mine and it's laughable. It would be better it the spray actually cleared the wiper arm on the drivers side. The work involved to fit this kit seems a bit too invasive for me though, would be interesting to see it with a slightly better pump that can use the standard wiring and hose.
im not sure if its an upgrade or not but iv seen someone fit discovery wipers to a defender... and if you think about it the disco wipers are bendy so they form to the curved screen so I'm curious to know if they grip the screen tighter.
@@thedoctorsgarage unscrew the tiny screws that hold the 2 parts of the jet together, one at a time, copper slip threads (or better still duralac) and replace, then do the next screw. Careful not to get polish in the jet holes.
Geeezsh £250 I love the bling and how it functions but I think that’s a pretty steep cost 💪 & 🧽 for the time being I think. Good video to see how it works which is impressive. Cheers

Life saver in the winter. Good move.

I ain't paying 200 sovs for that.. I'll try your method 😉

😂 thanks Tony - my screen washing was nearly non existent before so am pleased with my new jet wash system 🚿

I’ve done this and looks good. The pressure seems a bit weak now though, maybe I need a new washer pump? Any recommendations?

very impressive. Did not expect that
Great video, such a clear & useful step-by-step explanation, thank you.
Cheers Julian 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I hope you are sponsored for these crazy priced optimil items !

Cheers Matt- I’m really pleased with it and I completely agree!
I’ve been eyeing these up for a while as my washers are useless. Just not managed to bite the bullet yet!
It’s a good bit of gear!

That footage of it squirting out without the cover conjured up an image in my mind😂
They look great but not for the cash imo
😂😂
I love these Doc but what im really impressed with is the sweep and parking postions of your wipers, how did you achieve that.
This is on my list to do too so great video Doc !
Ummmm very big job. 6 water jet line might be the first for any cars? Amaging result! Definitely interested to install it! Thanks!
It can't be long until Optimill sponsor this channel! Great job though, a marked improvement over the standard system!
Thanks! 👌🏻🙏🏼💦
Cue forever refilling screenwash. It won’t be more effective when the tank is emptiesd quicker.
Maybe I need a bigger tank!

Where did you get the front number plate please?
What would be nice to see if there is an upgrade to the wipers themselves!
I’ve got BOSCH blades on mine and they work pretty well 👌🏻👌🏻

This looks a good upgrade but the price! If they’re as well made as the ORE products I might be tempted.
To be fair they are- my two favourite part manufacturers 👌🏻👌🏻
None in stock at the moment... they're a definite upgrade especially in winter!
I think a lot of the Optimill stuff is low on stock at the moment- luckily I picked up some
stuff at the last show off the stand 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@thedoctorsgarage yeah, supply issues... you can get them on ebay, but much more expensive
Nightmare when they block as the s/s screws seize into the alloy making dismantling to clean out near impossible
Anything you recommend to stop this happening?!

You will need a bigger water tank with all that pressure.
I know a girl like that ! ya she owns a defender too! lmao
must have more money than sense lol
😂
Doc, a bit of a faff but good job buddy!
Haha true but worth it! 👌🏻💦
move your hands more
Great advice 👌🏻
go and buy a Fiesta
