- A forward press can help trigger your putting stroke & relieve tension when under the pump BUT like everything in golf there is a reaction & impact on your golf equipment.
This video will help you understand the forward press motion in addition to highlighting what you should be aware of when it comes to seeing an efficient roll & how you obtain that through your loft on the blade.

100% on this video. The KEY is getting on a roll board or in front of slow motion video to see how YOU personally deliver the club at impact because the static loft is nothing more than a starting point as well deliver differently. Another thing of note is ball position. Finding out where you put the ball in your stance and doing it consistently is key to maintaining good effective loft.
Great video!
Trottie, you have done it again ... Have the spider been struggling lately like at the weekend 6 X 3 putts !! Last night played few holes with forward press and no 3 putts even drained a 20ft putt for birdie.... Genius !!
I had a putter fitting at one of the major brands facilities and found that my existing putter had 5 degrees of loft, which combined with my delivery explained why I sometimes had longer putts bounce before rolling. The fitter recommended the right degree of loft (2 degrees) and toe-hang for my stroke. They built the putter for me and I've enjoyed two years of excellent putting. Can't emphasize enough how important a putter fitting was for me. Great video Chris.
This is the first time I have ever heard to lead with the left wrist if you use a standard putting grip....I had always wondered about that, but this is the first time....amazing!
As always great sense spoken. Thanks Trottie 👍
Trottie …my pro recommended this yesterday has made my stroke feel so much more stable and distance control is better already. I have a slant neck spider ex. Thanks for the great content as always 👍🏼 🏴
Love it. Give the valleys a wave for me boy 🏴✊🏻
My coach and I have been working on this! Great stuff brother!
Another great tip from the long drive CHAMP!
Nice video! My instructor suggested I use a forward press, creating a y shape with my arms and shaft.
Good shit trottie
Thanks bro 🤙🏾😎

Love it trottie, so would that further back the argument of armlock putters? Because I feel that stroke promotes a forward press and it’s something I’m looking at hard 👍🏽
The armlock would certainly lock in a forward press motion, I can see that being a positive if that’s the route you want to go 🚛💨
Dude! Great vid! What happened to the putter head cover comp?...
I took a vacation 🤷🏻♂️…. Not forgotten it pro
Your videos are amazing, you going to do some videos on the new MG3’s.?
I will drop something for sure fella ….
Hmm, forward press at address doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll lower delivered loft at impact though right? I’ve always used it more as a mechanism for taking the club back easier.
Great point about weight further back. Interesting that it has an affect on launch even when putting.
So what could be the downside to having too little loft? And all stock spider x is 3deg. Loft. Would that mean players who putt well without the forward press all need loft adjustments to keep using the spider?
Which hosel type of the three would you recommend for a forward press putter? And which approximate loft would you recommend? Thank you.
Depends on the stroke & the press but without seeing you. Plumbers & at least 3°
@@trottiegolf Thanks Trottie!
@trottiegolf I’m lefty and right eye dominant, so everything looks right when the ball is pretty far forward in my stance, but a forward press from that position looks misaligned. What should I do? Change putter loft?
I would only change loft based on the drill in this vid. Lefty , right eye dominant should be useful
What putter grip is that. Superstoke 1.0 Flatso?
Does this work on all TaylorMade putters or is this specific to the Spider?
All & any 👍🏻
What do you think about Sik putters? Doesn’t the DCT solve this problem?
Never used one but I don’t hate the concept. The press is also to reduce tension so it’s not just about setting the loft
My misses are 90% left, would you recommend a more lofted putter?
I'd recommend going through this process, I don't think you'll need more loft
Hello, i have a question. I now use a taylormade ghost tour ma-81. And i am rolling it quite good i think. As my alignment line on my ball rolls over and over. But i would like to go to something newer. Would a spider fcg slant neck give me the same thing? Or is there another option in taylormade putters?
Big Toe hand right? The Maranello / TPA 18 looking putter? If so then yes FCG short neck is a good option
I think yes, it is the white one with a little weight on the bottom toe side.
@@nickvanorshaegen3704 okay so the recommendations above should work
Nice thank you!
@@nickvanorshaegen3704 always check them first though pal , get a fitting if you can
