There's an in-universe explanation as to what happened to all the specialized Huckebeins (destroyed by some dude; Ing comes along, salvages their parts, makes Exebein.) However, the real reason Bandai had the Huckebein killed is because its models were outselling Gundam models in Japan. Bandai said "can't have that, so kill the Huckebeins" because of it, even though Bandai owns both.

But they're contractually obligated to continue making Gunpla for Sunrise, and they have to listen to Sunrise on the matters of where Gundam can and cannot appear because Sunrise, not Bandai, owns the IP to Gundam. Every Huckebeine but the mass-produced Mk2s have almost perfect Gundam head ripoffs, and because of the weird ass way copyright law works in Japan, Sunrise was threatening BANDAI that they couldn't use Gundam in Super Robot Wars anymore if they didn't remove the Huckebeine lines, even though Bandai OWNS Sunrise. Copyright laws in Japan do NOT work like US copyright laws. Also, I made a mistake in the name of this suit; it's the Exexbeine.
