Can't blame the ol girl for wanting a sniff of the easy start before getting down to it. Im 60 now ....but in my 20s i was the same way at the disco or club
I have polished the injector needle seats using silvo and a pin vice, works very well as long as there is not too much wear. Clean the fuel system out and replace the filter, the diesel in that tank has stood twenty years and is most likely gone off to some extent and quite likely gelled in the pump and filter.
At the start when you removed the injection nut and turned it you had just a drop or 2 came out were there should be a good short stream under pressure needto start by full cleaning of the fuel system then good bleeding !! Sure it pop off and the bugs be fleaing the country😂
With the generators with the lister petter engines on in the cold i used to use newspaper on a stick lite in front of air intake to warm it up that helped it start in stead of giving it a sniff From andy in devon
I would do an injector test with the injector connected to the injector pump but outside the engine. If it sprays OK, then check the pump timing. It seems that all the "free" or really cheap engines that have been given up on, have timing issues.
I reckon I would test the spray pattern with the injector connected on the lister pump but removed from the head, that way you can see if it has enough pressure from its own pump. Another thing I noticed was a pop sound from the inlet after you removed the filter (separate from the intake noise), could it be the inlet valve is leaking a bit?
The fuel shut off is probably stuck in the off position from being left idle for a long time. I had one with same issue .From memory if you take off front timing cover you can release it
There's not enough diesel getting into the injector. At 20:00, it's easier to pull then push! Use *Simply Green* in an Ultrasonic. It does a better job. --- AGAIN! NOT IN FRAME!! At 32:09, need to clean that junk around the whole before inserting that injector! That bango needs to be clean as well.
Not getting enough fuel think you should of got a lot more coming out of that injection inlet ? Is the diesel old and gone off ? Used to watch my dad use heat to start old tractors we had ,try bunging some heat in intake ?
So my guess on why she no pop is the rings are stuck down in the piston thus offering low compression. If she had high enough compression she would have popped off with ether. When she no pop with ether she has not enough compression. So Adamski she may need her barrel taken off and the rings cleaned up. Either that or spin her with a 1/2" drill motor to get her up to enough speed she has to go to town.
Was that easy start you were using or brake and clutch cleaner? ;) I'd expect it to at least go bang with easy start! Is there really an Australian version called "Start Yer Bastard"? - I'm never sure if that's just a colloquialism!
I think you've got to look at the fuel pump, I don't think your getting enough pressure as that was a pitiful flow when you took the line off. Lmao! 2 ft bar! = 18 in torque wrench 😂 if your having issues with an extremely tight nut/bolt the safest way is a 6 point socket not a 12.
can you explain your posting process? like, dont you check the TITLE is correctly spelt? its really bugging my, that so many people in the excitement of posting a video dont take a second or two to check the spelling... and its rather strange as spellcheck is almost universal now... titles, banners... the important bits... like, i can understand one in the description, but in the title? in the thumbnail?
The problem is the high pressure pump because you aren't getting any bleed-off. It's only delivering fuel where there's no resistance to flow.

Hi Adam, great video I think you will get there in the end.⭐️👍🛠️🛠️
Something you made is better than perfect! It's more fun and shows more ingenuity to do a Frankenstein build than a museum restore :-)
To aid cold weather starting try using a hot air gun of hair drier to blow hot air into the air intake.
Yeah might try that idea. It should go.
Пропан нормально запускає

Clean the high pressure fuel pump and clean fuel tank and delivery pipes. Check timing and use new fuel.

Take a picture with your phone. Saves me a bunch of trouble when I do.
Adam how much diesel has it got in the tank because the diesel pump works on pressure, maybe you need to test the flow rate
I Love your videos but could you throw away your shifters and use proper spanners each time. AF, Whitworth and metric no longer break the bank.
Injector pipe, did not look to be delivering alot of fuel to me.

Yeah you could be onto somthin there mate. The blow back is a mystery. I don't think it's timing.

now you need to paint the gearbox to match the lever.
Check the injection
pump, them petters aint easy started 😢
Check the compression on it
Goodtry but put a label on it today non start clean injector so you don't go over the same items if it along tie between job's

Grab a heat gun stick it in the intake on hi and then crank it.
Maybe timing or spark
Spark ?
I hate big clumsy ill fitting adjustable spanners. Justba personal comment, everyone to their own of course.
