Absolutely love the perseverance and determination to test yourself. Watching your videos always inspires me to get out and try something new, hit a new trail or beat a previous PB. Brilliant channel and so inspiring. Thanks and keep it up, mate!
I’ve been watching you for around a year and caught up on most of the backlog since then. This is easily my favorite video. I legit can’t believe the positivity you bring to this challenge. Hilarious and awesome content.
Alright, now you're just showing off ;) I have a hard time making it 2 miles up Master Link at Tiger Mountain in the PNW. This is other-worldly, next-level stuff. Beyond impressive.
I have done this. Drove to the top of the trail and was going to ride solo. Met a random guy in the parking lot and we decided to ride together (that's how Moab is). Came to find he was a 17 year old expert racer. I was 30 at the time but in good shape. We went down the whole Porcupine Rim trail. Still my favorite trail of all time. Then we got to the bottom with no shuttle to town and my rental car at the top. There was water at the bottom, we both joked about how we were not road riders, so we topped off on water and decided to climb it back up Porcupine Rim. There were a few hike-a-bike sections but we rode at least 95% of it and it was damn challenging.
That was awesome! I’ve watched your channel for a long time and this video for me was a great example of how skilled you’ve become since you started. Great stuff!
As a fellow climbing enthusiast this make me happy!...but I can't believe you made some of those without any visible trails tricks...and on what looks like a heavy enduro bike clipped in with a super low seat...you nuts
Moab local here, you should do cliff hanger and pritchett canyon if you like this stuff. Nice work for someone who doesnt live here. Ive see guys who have practically studied this trail doing what your doing. Rock on bro!
That was awesome Brain. You are the best climber I have ever seen. I really wanted to see if you could climb The Snotch or The Notch, but you must not had gotten that far up.
I think over the winter you should take some courses on how to ride trials. This was a great video to show me that I will never ride Porcupine backwards.
Haha sure enough TrailForks says 1% uphill 🤣 I really like that your into crazy tech climbs besides DH, I can relate. I’m super glad you did this! Great to see the trail from the other direction it is a better perspective for size than your downhill video with the same camera. Great video!
Haha I love this 😂 My wife and I have ridden up from town on the road to UPS/LPS a few times in the past and then come down the trail. That’s a hell of a ride but this just looks painful. Solid work ;)
I have only ridden in Moab once and that was in 1994. Porcupine Rim was one of the trails that I rode solo, didn't know any better, and went that same direction....wrong direction. Regardless, it was a fantastic ride. I did Portal Trail also, solo....my riding buddy wasn't feeling great that whole week we were there, so he only did Gemini Bridges and Slick Rock w/ me. I watch videos of these trails and it's definitely more eroded compared to what it was 27 yrs ago. I still hope to get back out there some time to ride those trails again, but at 55 I am a bit more cautious.
cool approach! man i love to watch moab stuff. somehow its so different to everything i can get here where i am. what ring are you usually riding in the front? maybe it would be an idea to throw a 30t on?
This is the trail that BKXC saved Singletrack Samplers life when he almost fell off a cliff climbing up the mountain. BKXC pulled his bike back as he was falling off a cliff. He saved his life.
After watching too many jeff lenosky & JKW videos, realized trackstands, lift and shift techniques are great skills to have in the quiver. Awesome job cleaning a lot of it.
Dude, slow tech is your jam. Great ride and terrible idea all in one. Raced Moab Rocks this year after watching your race clips. Pre gamed with friends watching your videos. Jealous of your attempt. Fantastic video today
Yeah buddy! Mark here from WSC - Strong climbing! Let me know next time your in town and I'd be happy to take you for a Mag 7/Portal lap. I know all the "dad" lines - Ha!
I'm surprised how much of it you did manage to clear. Having been down it myself I'd never want to go up it haha. And yes the Ripmo is like the bike of choice for WE. I rode it in late October and probably saw over a dozen Ripmos other than my own. Even in the group of 4 I was riding with it was 2x Ripmos, a Transition Sentinel and a Stumpy.
Interesting. I've always considered Ibis to be one of the more niche brands, overshadowed by the Specializeds of the world. Obviously not in this arena!
Another brilliantly "bad idea", keep em coming, they are brilliant 💡 I remember you tried a Zerode with a Pinion gearbox some years back (maybe in the Alps?). Apart from the weight of the bike, how do you feel a gearbox would do in technical climbs, considering you can shift while trackstanding or coasting?
Don't worry about Portal. Walk where the signs are and you're good. Still technical downhill stuff farther down but without the exposure. Now Gold Bar Rim immediately before I'd say is harder and has some big features and power moves.
Agree. Riding the exposed section is simply stupid. There's absolutely nothing remarkable about it - except the exposure. Walk it to ride another day! Watched a sketch rider (who we met on the way up who crashed earlier in a non-technical section) ride it and we were sure he'd go over the edge. So not worth it.
I talked to a guy who rides from Moab to Burro Pass (the back side) and back on a hardtail. Insanity. In other words he does the whole Whole Enchilada.
Still don't get riding without gloves! You, Mo, Hannah and a lot of other UA-camrs often go without. So not worth it if you hit the dirt (rock)! Been on many a ride where a rider falls on or offroad, lands with hands out, and takes skin off both palms. Then it's a REALLY fun rest of the ride for them!
And then, after all this effort.....what? It's been an amazing job, man!!!! Let me say that I fully agree with the comment below talking about something related to masochism 😂🤣
Well, ok, now that I've watched a bit more (I commented below before watching.), this is indeed a crazy challenge. It's more suited for trials riding. OK, time to work on my trials hopping... That said, I haven't been on the lower section in a LONG time. Looks like a lot of it has been rerouted? Or there's an alternate, more technical version? Because I don't remember anything of this technical magnitude on Porcupine. Portal trail, yes! But Porc was always faster and more flowing... Excellent job at around the 7 minute mark! Very nice job! At 15:00 looks like the drop off where I snapped a BB spindle. Oh, the days of bombing Porcupine RIGID!!! Edit: I realize why. I rode it before the trail terminus was moved to its new location with the tunnel under the highway. Pre-bike path and all that stuff where the trail just dumped you out on the road. More goodness to explore!
It went together easily in less than an hour. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
dumb... probably. but this is actually very good. one thing i definitely would take away from this is the opposite perspective of how gnarly the features are. this brings more appreciation to the usual ride route!!!
It's official, you're a masochist! It blew my mind when you climbed that tricky slab where Seth went OTB years ago!😮
I knew that spot looked familiar!
I actually like seeing riders climb difficult sections as opposed to seeing downhill all the time. Great video!
So very impressive! Can’t believe you got that first bit/last descent.
Dumb? ANY ride in Moab is a GREAT ride!!!!
I'd go to in a heartbeat just to climb Porcupine 10 days in a row!
Can't get enough of Moab!!!
Absolutely love the perseverance and determination to test yourself.
Watching your videos always inspires me to get out and try something new, hit a new trail or beat a previous PB.
Brilliant channel and so inspiring. Thanks and keep it up, mate!
I really like this bad idea/bad trail series you've stumbled upon. a kind of Trail redemption tour.
I’ve been watching you for around a year and caught up on most of the backlog since then. This is easily my favorite video. I legit can’t believe the positivity you bring to this challenge. Hilarious and awesome content.

Tiger mountain is so awesome 😎

The level of concentration on the decent though!
You have serious tenacity on the climbing part. What an inspiration.
Your riding has hit another level, riding really strong!
1:21 yep, always happens, I go down a nice descent and then have to stop and yield to that one person grunting his way up what everybody goes down on
U Sir gone total nuts by doing this :)
Cant imagine doing anything like it myself.
Well done and keep shredding Mr B!
Glad to see I'm not the only one who upon seeing a techy downhill thinks 'Ooh! That'll make an interesting climb.
Your determination is inspiring
That was awesome Brain. You are the best climber I have ever seen. I really wanted to see if you could climb The Snotch or The Notch, but you must not had gotten that far up.

Thanks!
Thank you Marc!
More climbing things that shouldn't be climbed, please :)
Great video. I watch these on my trainer. It’s a little cold in central Saskatchewan to bike outside these days.
It would be cool if you placed the camera on a rock sometimes so we could see you from another perspective doing those short parts
Yes, in a level profile shot, showing the angle of climb!
Not dumb. Just insanely brave!
Your video's are my motivation❤️
I love the different terrain there, need to get there on bikes.
Great climbing, BKXC is right!

Wow that's impressive climbing! Your power to weight ratio is excellent!
Haha I love this 😂 My wife and I have ridden up from town on the road to UPS/LPS a few times in the past and then come down the trail. That’s a hell of a ride but this just looks painful. Solid work ;)
there are a few spots that *I'd be startled* if I'd committed to a technical line & then someone materialized *coming UP*
It’s hurting me to watch this! Good stuff man!
Nice job Bryan, enjoyed the vid !

You are mad man! So gnarly. Nice work man🤘🏻
Going down it is exhausting enough.. you are nuts 😂
cool approach! man i love to watch moab stuff. somehow its so different to everything i can get here where i am.
what ring are you usually riding in the front? maybe it would be an idea to throw a 30t on?
Well, you cleaned more than I thought you would!
This is the trail that BKXC saved Singletrack Samplers life when he almost fell off a cliff climbing up the mountain. BKXC pulled his bike back as he was falling off a cliff. He saved his life.
Just another video reminding me that I really need to get out west ASAP. See if I've acquired any skills riding this east coast jank all these year's!
“I have the POWERRR!” 💪💪
After watching too many jeff lenosky & JKW videos, realized trackstands, lift and shift techniques are great skills to have in the quiver. Awesome job cleaning a lot of it.
Such a good trail. Can't imagine climbing it. At least for a few years.
Climbing machine! Loved it.
Dude, slow tech is your jam. Great ride and terrible idea all in one. Raced Moab Rocks this year after watching your race clips. Pre gamed with friends watching your videos. Jealous of your attempt. Fantastic video today

👍
Damn B. That was some big boy stuff. Going down that seems tough (never rode there) can't imagine climbing that.
Awesome videos as usual, seems like a bad ride idea lol. Either way, I'm always watching
Great video,BKXC
I'm surprised how much of it you did manage to clear. Having been down it myself I'd never want to go up it haha. And yes the Ripmo is like the bike of choice for WE. 9:14 Castle Gray Skull. Very good description. Awesome vid though! I'm tired out just watching it.
Bravo BRYAN toujours aussi fort 👍🤘
One day you should climb "The Notch" 😂😂
wtf? I've never even heard of people doing that. I wonder why? It's so fun going down, but up, whoo-boy!
oh i absolutely enjoyed all 27 minutes of that! it's an odd occaission to see Mr. BK actually have a hard time climbing something techy!
Impressive how you can unclip that fast. Such is my envy
This seems like the best idea you ever had! :-)
Your up Jeff 😉
idea for Go-Pro: a gyroscope that can drive an on-screen widget showing an average slope / angle of rise or descent
Yeah that shows the angle and grade in real time... I'd also appreciate this. Maybe even one day something that tells the gear/ mph/ break input
Super cool idea for a video Brian. I would love to give this a go. Maybe I will soon…
Whoa you went there full speed when there's a cliff to your right hand side on the way back!
Well done. Not sure why, but I'd like to try that on my fatbike.
Super Easy Install & Usage
Holy cow, that is pure insanity right there.
Another brilliantly "bad idea", keep em coming, they are brilliant 💡
I remember you tried a Zerode with a Pinion gearbox some years back (maybe in the Alps?). Apart from the weight of the bike, how do you feel a gearbox would do in technical climbs, considering you can shift while trackstanding or coasting?
Beautiful vistas!

Definitely gives you a different perspective how steep that trail is.
It like waging war. Brutal climbs!
Great stuff Brian 🤘🔥
That must have been horrid to complete. Great work Brian.
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼…. The one time I went, there were some cats climbing it. I think It is a cool challenge!
My respects to you!!! Great Challenge!!
That was EXCELLENT...
awesome video with sick idea
Absolutely gorgeous!
I talked to a guy who rides from Moab to Burro Pass (the back side) and back on a hardtail. Insanity. In other words he does the whole Whole Enchilada.
Just imagine you reached the top n realise your GoPro was off..been talking to yourself like a mad man.
so at 19:18 a bike colour change? Must be the light shift, looks like your new blue one in some light, was messing with me!!
Brilliant idea, I reckon!
Something sounds like a dog bark on min 21:51 watching it on tv haha
Need to visit.. wow
And then, after all this effort.....what? It's been an amazing job, man!!!! Let me say that I fully agree with the comment below talking about something related to masochism 😂🤣
Climbing --> Like. Some sections looked really steep and technical even seen through the gopro's lens.
Brutal dude.

You are an awesome climber. Maybe a bit of trials training? A session or two (with videos) with Traillboss.
Excelent dude!!
You can easily make a motivational video out of this one
I feel like you almost made it to the top of LPS where the gate is. like just a few more min of climbing and you'd have been there.
Bet if you were on a hardtail... with Steve from Hardtail Party... that ride would be 10x better.
What was the Strava from this? Your heart rate had to be raging.
"Climbing Porcupine Rim" i was confused about this because the switzer do have The Porcupine Tire which iam riding.
dumb... probably. but this is actually very good. one thing i definitely would take away from this is the opposite perspective of how gnarly the features are. this brings more appreciation to the usual ride route!!!
Haven't ridden Portal? You'ld have no problem on it. Over rated because of a short exposed section that you can quickly walk.
You’re a beast!
Warp whistle. Haha. SM3
This is insane. I bet it was good for the soul though when you finally got out.
