I haven't read the Grisha trilogy yet, but I just finished Six of Crows. I found the song just after I read Nina and Matthias' backstory. I gotta say, it fit pretty perfectly :)
I’m just discovering this now and holy shit this is the best song I’ve heard her sing. It showcases her voice and style is such a powerful way I honestly have chills
I've just finished the trilogy yesterday, and I absolutely loved it. The ending made it all worth it, but it's horrible knowing so many bad things happened to get to that. Can't wait for the series on Netflix 😊
This song reminds me of when Mal and Alina were hunting the stag Wish I could read the series for the first time again:( reading the Nikolai duology now.
kája schliech the darkling is litterally an imortal psychopath who slaughtered thousands maybe even millions of innocent people. Any kindness he showed to Alina was an act to make her trust him so he could litterally make her a slave to control the shadowfold with. He slaughtered like most of the second army and grisha students, litteral children. He also created the shadowfold because of his own ambition for more power, which again makes him responsible for thousands if not millions of deaths. He used Genya since she was a child so that he would be able to fake his own death, again, because of that she had to sleep with the old king and when he was done with her he mutilated her. I could list more things but this is already way to long. I mean i get not liking Mal or Mal x Alina, but he darkling a terrible person and the darkling x Alina is toxic. I just don’t get it.
@@ellisghost Mal couldn't love Alina when she became stronger than him. And he obviously didn't actually love her as a child, else he wouldn't have slept around or kissed Zoya. You don't know how bad it hurts to see someone else being intimate with the person you love. When she loved her power he was a bitch to her. When she lost her power, they had a "happy" ending. And yes, the Darkling did some pretty bad shit, but imagine having the childhood from the prequel story. We have the luxury of hindsight. You didn't FEEL what he experienced. You only read the words off of a page. You can say you wouldn't all you want, but he just wanted to protect his people. I admit he did it in a bad way, but it was the only way he knew how. People in history have done so many similar things, and we never see hate comments about that. And the relationship between the Darkling and Alina wasn't toxic. It was complicated. He used her at first, yes. He developed feelings for her as well though. But Baghra had drilled into his head not to love someone weaker than yourself. So he made her stronger. In a very twisted way. But he didn't know any better. And at the end, it came full circle. He lost her when he learned to love her. Exactly the same way she felt about her power. He didn't want to be hated in the end. He just wanted sanctuary. He lived through so many wars and so much shit, of course he'd want sanctuary. Who wouldn't? How many times have you heard the excuse 'Doing bad things doesn't make you a bad person'? He tried to do good things in a bad way. That doesn't make him evil. Just broken. Like everyone else on this planet. And Genya? She wasn't a pawn to the Darkling. She was a bishop. Bait. And I love Genya, but she sought out vengeance. I'd be happy with safety. When she agreed with the Darkling, she knew the risks. And everyone feels bad because they hit you with a backstory. But Genya wasn't the bigger person in that situation. When the Darkling promised vengeance on the sovereign, she should have immediately reported him instead of making a VERY bad decision based on her past. She saw red. It seems like I'm contradicting myself, but seriously. Hindsight. I don't really know what choice I would make in Genya's position. This is what I'm basing off of hindsight. We all like to think we'll be the better person, but you never really know what you'll actually do. I'll cut my rant off now.
"Once more.. Speak my name once more."
"Aleksander."
"Don't let me be alone..."
I thought I was over his death, but this tells me otherwise
