**Update** For the purposes of summoning the Herald of Oblivion it requires 6 debuffs, not specifically 6 different debuffs.
For most races this will not matter but for a Drem especially(and less so Shalore) you can get a Herald up by casting Frenzy, then Dark Whispers + Caco followed by another Dark Whispers + Caco. Because of this, if you are going Drem it is *almost* a requirement to take the Herald of Oblivion skill tree.
Without a Drem or Shalore for all realistic situations you will still want to use 6 different debuffs because the only debuff with a low enough cooldown to be cast within the time limit to summon the Herald is Dark Whispers. Without Caco Dark Whispers is not worth it as you have other more powerful debuffs to use.
Thanks to @Moasseman for pointing this out.

Thanks for the guide, I dig it. In 1.7 the non-Drem standard opener I've used and seen recommended to get Herald out is Obelisk -> Dark Whispers -> Prophecy + Twofold Curse -> Cacophany -> Dark Whispers.
If a Nihil apply misses somehow throwing an Entropic Gift + Black Hole on at the end of that usually procs Herald for me, and the Black Hole control is nice to bring into play anyhow as Obelisk will probably be gone around that point. Most trash and rares seem to either die when Cacophany hits or get killed by Herald's Void Crash on its 1st turn.
After that I just use whatever is off CD as it comes available. Insanity effects make further rotation planning hard. For prophecies I find myself liking Treason on Twofold Curse, Madness on Grand Oration, and Ruin on the last one for the passive healing.

Can you explain why you put 1 into heavy armor and 3 into light armor? I don't see the use of putting points into light armor if you can wear heavy armor? I think the "armor" skill only applies based on what's in your chest slot and heavy armor always seems better for casters so what am I not understanding?

@jj denver The first point in heavy armor allows you to use heavy helms, boots and gloves. The Cultist of Entropy's "Void Star" ability requires you to use Light Armor otherwise I would definitely be wearing heavy chest.

Unravel Existence requires you to apply 6 debuffs, not 6 DIFFERENT debuffs. This means that, for example, Cacophony counts as 2 (it applies both Cacophony and Dark Whispers)
