I got one for my son and saw a lot of potential, got one for me and needed some mod ideas - this is exactly what I was looking for, liked and subscribed. Questionable upgrades on off brand RCs need more coverage. It isn't as straight forward as brand hop-ups.. but arguably more satisfying. Frankensteins, freaks and plain old nonsense.
Oh dude, I'm all about the questionable upgrades 🤣🤣 Thanks for coming along for the ride!! 🤘😎
Does anyone else think the body looked better when it was taped up and the roof had dropped to about the height of the bonnet? 😄 It reminded me of some vintage chop-top dragsters I used to see around as a kid. 😍
Haha I did too! Looking for my next body now to have the same feel!
@@disciplinerc it’s not a drop top body but I have just ordered a Yoncher YC400 body shell and spares from the Yoncher store on Amazon, if anyone else is looking for the same body shell. I messaged them directly and we’re able to help me out with just the parts I needed after stupidly wrecking mine at 70kph into a parked car. 😅
Well and truly sent ,
Who needs to use a body anyway? 🤣
Right? 😂
She took a lickin and shes still kickin, tough truck.
5:16 You can't go wrong with tape😂😂😂
Well to say you ''abused it'' would be a understatement but it keeps coming back for more it's like if this little rc truck'could talk it will tell you 'GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT I CAN TAKE IT!''
Another fun one indeed👍👍👍😎😎
I've tamed it down a bit, can't wait to show how round 3 goes!
@@disciplinerc 👍👍👍
Thanks for a great video! We gave You a mention in our last description to say thanks for subbing to my little lads channel! Glad things are going going so well for you bro!

CHARLIES CARS!
You Sent It!!!! That's a Beast 😀.
😂
That thing is crazy
Yes 17t fits great, just snug top cover screws
Nice work bro. O love making things over powered and undrivable it's so much fun👌
I know right? 😂
Some Glue and seems brand new 😁
😉
Brilliant video once again. That thing was crazy. Keep up the good work
Hehe thx brosef!!
awesome video,i just got a FC610 and i will be ordering a brushless setup ASAP
Stay in the 2500-3000kv, maybe even 2s as well. Unless you wanna send it!! 😂
@@disciplinerc there's no point in doing it if i wasn't going to send it! I think it would probably be the most practical on 2s though.
@@BigLloydFTWyou sir, are a man after my own heart!!! 😆😆😆
@@disciplinerc I put a 8s arrma setup on my slash last year and completely destroyed it...been addicted to overpowering RC cars since I got my first Tyco RC car at 8 and hooked a Makita drill battery to it.
@@BigLloydFTW this I like
Nice! I just stuck with the 14t on my conversion and was done with it I was just happy to find the right pitch pinion lol
Good call, it's a great little truck out of the box
@@disciplinerc was hoping to see some shots how you managed the bigger pinion. Even turning that plastic piece over that screws into the motor, I don't get it. I heard of someone fabricating a motor mount that fits in that plastic casing, but that's it. Shocks are trash too. I put some traxxas shocks on mine and improved dampening a hell of alot more than stock. Overall can't beat the value though.
@@stickem1974 the OEM mount can only fit in one way, when you pull it apart the way it comes mounted there is a clear '14' marked on exposed side of the mount. If you reverse it and put the '14' facing the motor, the '16' will be visible, and once mounted to the motor, it fits back in the same way.
Awesome video! I've just ordered one, will probably upgrade to 3s at some point, but maybe not quite so OP!
It's a great truck. I've down sized the motor again so I can at least drive it again 😂
@@disciplinerc what motor do you recommend?
If you go brushless stay 3300kv or lower.
Insane. Glad I bought a good truck. Stitch the body back together! Lol. Love those wheels.
A little glue and it'll be fine...right??? 😬😁😆
@@disciplinerc lol. Do like some street car guys do, drill a bunch of small holes along the breaks, on both sides and either use small string or zip ties and actually stitch it.
@@davemasek haha my Senton is living proof of that 😉
Wow that's insane. I cant believe how well the car held up. Perfect upgrade, 💯💯
Yeah, crazy little tank dude 😎
Can you link the parts used? Interested on go brushless but keep servo stock and not crazy power. 30mph more than enough with no clogging. Maybe hbx 901a motor and esc can be a direct swap appart from the pinion?!
Sure thing, I'll add a parts list to the comments later today. The 901a has a smaller can, 380, the mount holes should line up.

It’ s Alive 😂
Still one of my favorite surprise RC cars last year, really impressive 👌
Oh, what a cool bash video. And a cool truck, too! I don't like the look of the body, but looks like it needs to be replaced soon anyway, I have a nice Phat Bodies Funkenblitz I think might fit well on it, and I have a 4500kV motor lying around, I think might be a fun project for the winter, might wait and see if it comes on Black Friday sale, ha ha...
Do it! You won't be sad you did 👍
A bit of T-Cut and some polish, and that body will be just fine... 'tis only a scratch...
Yeah youre right, it'll buff out. 😉
@@disciplinerc that’s what she said…
Just discovered your channel after ordering one of these. Glad I did both right now. 😆
I couldn’t find a comment or anything with those wheels?
Been meaning to put a list in the comments. The tires are Proline Badlands MX2.8's
@@disciplinerc thanks! Pretty sure my LHS stocks those too. I’m sure those wheels were part of the reason it survived so well. They looked like they were providing a lot of the impact protection. 😎
They were more then the truck haha
@@disciplinerc that’s not saying much though. 🤣
@@disciplinerc ahh! Belted! THATS why they didn’t blow out! 🤣 And why they cost so much!
Mate, you should add the info for the motor and the pinion where to buy them..
Copy that, I'll put a link in the description with a discount code from Banggood too!
@@disciplinerc do you know where i can find compatible front cvd shafts as i broke them?does the hbx 901/903 metal shaft fits this also?i cannot find nowhere..
I just got this can’t wait to see what I can do to make it fly
"Sometimes too much power is a bad thing tho" said no RC guy ever
Great video. Looks just like my plastics after my brushless conversion... Got a $12 1/12 truck body off the Zon and covered the inside with spray adhesive and mesh drywall tape. Gonna rip it tomorrow and hope it holds up.
Did you cut the battery tray divider on yours to fit the 2200mah? I'm planning on doing it but haven't yet.
Yep, and used a bit of plastic as a battery stop from hitting the bell crank. Make sure you smooth out the plastic so the battery doesn't pop! 😆🔥
I am thinking hard about getting one of these now I know you can fit a 17 tooth pinion in it!!! Awesome video, I subscribed!
What was your top speed with this setup? I would be happy with 40 mph I think (my current cars are all in the 50s but they are probably more stable at speed….. it looked like you got close to 40 mph but it wasn’t really it’s toop speed it seemed.
In the video you said you used a 5400kv motor. In the description you said 4500 was nuts and to go with a 3300 kv but the link is for the motor is for a 3660 motor. You used a 3650, right? Also, I am kind of nutty and would like to go with the 4500 setup but think 5400kv would just be silly! So did you try the 4500kv setup too? I would love a bit more info! Also, for the pinion.... do you know what material the one you used was? It looks like it was one for a WLToys car. Thanks man!
Hey! Glad you liked it, it's one of the best budget models out there for sure. Thanks for catching that in the description, that was a 5400kv 3650 installed, but it was ridiculous. Maybe with a wheelie bar and lowering it you could get to 50mph on that set up on perfect terrain, but it's so squirrelly due to its size. Not too sure what the pinion material was but I got an entire set (14-18) but can't find who makes them anymore😔
@@disciplinerc the motor is crooked so it is impossible to reform the cover with the 3660, I removed the metal wedges from the motor brain, to allow the 3660 to enter normally.
Awesome video on the fc610 . How you flip the motor mount to fit bigger pinion ? I have order a set of pinion , would like to fit 16-17T on stock brushed before going brushless . I guess move the esc to the middle free up more space for a bigger battery .
The mount is set for a 14t pinion. If you take it off and flip it, there is a '16' on the opposite side. It's really easy. You will notice though the mesh is pretty lose. 16 on brushed should be ok, if you're not goosing it like I did 😂
@@disciplinerc will try that when the pinion come . What type of grease will you recommend ?
@@winstonhoong2134 for inside the diffs? 1m weight silicone will lock them up better, but they are so small, you can't get alot in them. If you only have a heavy grease then that will be ok
@@disciplinerc okay . I will get some weight silicone or grease for the diffs . Luckily they didn't super glue the pinion n motor mount like wltoys as I don't have soldering iron or blow torch to melt the glue . Thankyou for your help .
@@winstonhoong2134 totally agree about the glue, the FC650 has even worse glueing 😩
Wow 🔥🔥🔥
I feel bad for kicking it's but so hard 😂
@@disciplinerc 😁 I've just ordered one, to have some fun and make some upgrades 😉 Cheers!
Hi, what’s the battery tray size in length in cm assuming the brushed esc has been removed to leave all the space for a bigger/longer battery. Tnx
I really couldn't say, it's completely in pieces and the chassis is gone now. There might be specs to the tray on the landing page in the description below 👇
AndI was hoping if you would try to do another video of you trying to kill the FC 610
I honestly feel like a bad person doing it...but it's in the works 😈😂
You flip the motor mount upside down or? Dont have the car yet so i cant imagine what you think exactly. tnx!
Yeah, just flipping it gives you a slightly bigger gap for a larger pinion. This thing is amazing dude!
Ahh weird, put in a 17T and its wayyyy too tight. Will order a 16T now.
Discipline RC, is it possible once you ran 16T first you ground down some of the material from differential drive gear and that is why 17T fits your rc so well? What do you think? Thankss
Did you flip the motor mount? Each side is set for different pinion sizes
@@disciplinerc yep, definitely flipped it.
@@bismuth7730 Hmm, maybe the beating I put through it before did loosen it up after all
Your videos are very entertaining and informative as well. Just want to ask if I change my pinion gear to a 16 tooth on my stock brush motor what will happen to it's driving characteristics? Thanks in advance.
The higher the tooth count, the greater the top speed and slower the acceleration. It will also heat the motor up a lot fast as it's working more.
This video made me get one.... I was shocked by the size of the diffs for the size of the car being smaller than wltoys 144001 diffs but its a strong beast for the price range...i am totally sus about the lipos that came with it says they are 1600mah but i have 1300 and 1550 that are wider and longer than them lol
I thought the same about the batteries as well 😂 still a great deal tho!
@@disciplinerc top deal.. thanks for the info you have suggested i got 16-18t 0.6m pinion coming and putting on a max10 with a 2900kv
@@andyroo8uk685 👍👍
Ello Ello, what pinion did U use for this?
A Mod 0.6 17t pinion. If you go brushless, I recommend going up a tooth. Brushed will run a 14t or 16t fine but there is alot of play. A 15t or 17t fit the mesh perfect and takes out the slop!
@@disciplinerc thanks for replying, 🙃
So the shaft I assume is 3.15?
I heard though the stock shaft is a bit longer
@@doylecholesterole1927 depends what motor, a surpass or rocket is fine. Castle tends to be a bit bigger tho. I think the stock brushed shaft is a bit smaller, I can't recall but if you upgrade, 3.175 is standard.
@@disciplinerc I might just go with the 3650 motor since the 540/550? Is the same
@@doylecholesterole1927 perfect!
Please can you give me link for these tyres?
Added it to the description. They are Proline Badlands 👍
What is the fastest motor that will fit
Guess that all depends what you're trying to do. If you are looking for a speed run rig I wouldn't go past 5400kv, but a 3660 4500kv is plenty overkill as you can see. Any higher KV and it will overtax the ESC/motor and they will fail
Is yc400 copy of this?
I am pretty certain it is. Drones and Dogs has some vids on the Yoncher.
Can you please list the parts you used? Or more specifically, the specs of the pinion, before I go ordering the wrong parts? 😅
You have the Surpass 9kg servo, a 5400kv 3650 motor, 16t pinion but what pitch?
EDIT: I think I found the pitch. M0.6?
Sorry just saw this, yep Mod 0.6. I'd get a 17t though, there is alot of slop with a 16t. Also, the 5400kv is a bit crazy, I'd think a 3300kv would actually be more drivable 😂
@@disciplinerc thanks. Was that a Surpass motor under that heat sink too? Because I could only find a 5200kv and a 5900kv 3650? Yeah I’ll probably just get a 3900kv and pair it with an 80a ESC, from Surpass. As well as the same 9kg servo you did and the pack of Surpass pinions that has the 17t you used. Just those parts is more than what I paid for the FC610. 🤣
I’m new to RC since last Christmas and this will be my 2nd car, if you don’t include the dodgy WLToys 124019 i just returned for a full refund, so I’m not quite ready to drop some big coin on some Traxxas or Arrma gear.
I was really impressed with my first car which was an HBX 16889 (sold under a different name and with a different body) but utterly disappointed but the overall build quality of the WLToys, which was broken and incorrectly spec’ed out of the box. I’m expecting this FC610 to be along the lines of my 16889 in terms of build quality and plastic materials. 🤞🤞
And Surpass Hobby seem to be pretty good bang for buck for someone like me starting out?
@@h4rb1ng3r Surpass stuff is pretty solid for the price, I've only ever killed ESC's. Read 'Waterproof' but it's a 50/50 if you go in the deep stuff. HBX are proving to be better and better as time goes on.
@@disciplinerc so my FC610 arrived Tuesday and the motor, ESC and servo upgrades just arrived today. My Surpass metal 9kg servo is a lot slower than the stock one. I was expecting an improvement in performance. Was durability the reason you replaced the stock one? Or is yours faster. The stock servo is already slow and this one is slower again. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? 😅
@@h4rb1ng3r sadly it wasnt much faster, but they are a better servo. Was going to go all metal, but space is limited
3300kv motor is out of stock, is there a big difference in performance between 2600 vs 3300?
You will get a bit more torque, but the top speed will be lesser. Voltage time the kV will give you the max rpm the motor can put out 👍
@@disciplinerc just to summarize: 3300 more torque, 2600 higher top speed?
Just got mine can’t wait to give it a full send Which battery do you recommend I cut out a bigger a slot I’m running 120amp with a Brushless
What kV motor did you put in? I'll always say 3s, but if you want it drivable 2s can work too 👍
Anything on Amazon you think will fit you recommend
@@disciplinerc 540 Brushless Motor 1/10 3650 5900KV 3.175mm
@@theiceman206 size wise an 11.1 3s 2200mah fits quite perfectly. As for the C rating, with that motor, anything 35 and up will be good. As for brand, I have good success with HRB and Sunpadow as they are low price and good quality
too fast...nice wheels though!
OK. I got my FC610 and 3300 kV Racerstar conversion with a 17T that you recommend in the skate park vid. But for the life of me, I am trying to puzzle out the motor mount. It appears to be symmetric, so what do you mean by "flipped around?" Thanks!
Never mind. I read the comments and figure it out. Just gave the little guy a run. It's a beast now, even on the stock battery!
Glad I could help 🤘😎
