- The 1974 Los Angeles Times 500 at Ontario Motor Speedway was the 30th and final race of the 1974 NASCAR Winston Cup Series season which took place on November 24, 1974!
All credit goes to @movracefan for uploading the “Stock Car Classics Vol 1” video on his channel, this is where he got the race from!
Love the music. Back when NASCAR was fun to watch. One has to remember, teams were trailering or carrying race cars 2-2500 miles to & from North Carolina before the Interstate System was fully completed. It was a chore, even in the 1960’s-70’s; to get from one Coast to the Other. Plus there weren’t private jets to carry drivers, teams, & race officials, either.
Holy crap, I was at that race! This brings back some very fond memories.
You may be the elder statesman!
Great video. Even Though the Matador was strange, that paint scheme was a great look. Got love the old races and see how much the drivers had to drive those cars.
Same year they had the huge California Jam concert at Ontario I believe.
I grew up 10 miles from Ontario moter speedway..it was the exactly the same size, banking as Indy..such a great place ..built in 70 gone in 80s sad.......
Both Ontario, Riverside, & California gone; as well as Ascot & dozens of other smaller tracks
Just remember it was Chevron that bought the Big O and Chevron that tore it down to get federal tax credits for 'urban renewal'. Also it was the people of Ontario who didn't care.
Ahh, Indy West!!
It's Laguna time!
By 1974, GM was past the 'glory days' of big horsepower in
intermediate size cars. The Laguna (a Chevelle replacement) was IMHO, a sad ending to a too short a time!
Excellent Video!
KEEP EM COMING 😊
There’s more to come!
But give some love to movracefan for uploading racing documentaries on his channel!
@@IanPerez1227_YT2I 'll have to check him out!
🎉see Don Hall smiling during driver introduction is there any footage of 1975 ?
Not that I’m aware
Bobby Alison in an AMC
Money talks!
Cool vid but the thumbnail image shows a car on pit road (#12 Coke Chevrolet) that isn't even in this race.
I tried to find a picture from this actual race, and it was what I found. According to a source, it does say it is from 1974
@@IanPerez1227_YT2a minor detail! The content is super!
Can’t believe I saw this comment late. I apologize.
Anyway, thank you! All credit goes to movracefan for uploading the documentary!
