Ricky, thank you for a good lesson. I bought Ricky’s ultimate UA-cam guitar lesson compilation, and it has really helped me. Thank you again for the effort you put in for these wonderful instructional videos.
You're giving your secrets away because you do not want to kill someone's dream of playing guitar. Expanding the universal language. Thank you Best lesson yet
Hey buddy. I watched your video montgs ago about memorizing the Fretboard by grouping notes. Just wanted to say Thanks. Big Big help. 👍💯👏👏🎸🎸. Btw. Im 61. 😊
Ricky I would like to say thank you so very much for your lessons and give you a huge compliment. Your teaching style and techniques. I am ADHD and 67 years old. I have always struggle to learn things in a conventional way when others see things simply I struggle to process information in a way that my brain Understands and absorbs information. For me, it is like being right handed and being forced to do everything left-handed. It is difficult and frustrating. So far I have seen quite a few of your videos and have had no trouble understanding and processing the information. For me, you are the best teacher on the Internet. Like I said, I am 67 years old and I do not like crossword puzzles, but I need to challenge my mind to keep it working properly and to avoid dementia as best as I can. I have always wanted to play the guitar and I’ve tried but have not succeeded, but I believe I will achieve this goal now because for the first time I’m doing better than just getting the basics. I’m getting to learn a lot of things that I did never understand so I’m very excited about this journey so thank you again for sharing. I haven’t found anything on learning how to read tabs and learning what a lot of the symbols mean so I’m still struggling with that. I don’t know if you have videos on that, but I’d really like to know more about tabs. I have subscribed and I have you on high notifications.👍
Ricky. I have the book and love it. I’ve learned so much more from you than any of the dozens teachers I’ve been doing lessons with. And the book without the videos is unproductive.
Thanks Ricky. someone posed a question late in the livestream. "How many guitars does one man need?" There's a formula for working that out. X=n+1 Where 'X' is the optimal number of guitars one needs and 'n' is the number of guitars that one currently has. It's a useful formula. Works for Camera lenses, power tools, all manner of things. 😀
So Glad I bought your book! Your explanations and reinforcement of the illustrations is making something clear about the guitar that I had never understood before.
Ricky, love your material, plan to get your book. Hmm? In addition to describing the 4ths tuning on a guitar (other than stepping to the B string from the G), I wonder if some of your students and followers might gain additional understanding if you also described the 4ths move as 5 semitones? So, G on the low E stepping up 2 strings to the D string is 5 + 5 = 10 semitones, then sliding 2 frets over = 12 or the next octave's G. Perhaps you've covered this and I missed it. Looking forward to your next video!!!
Ey up .. cheers Ricky .. everytime i watch youre lessons i get it .. never had a clue with any of it until i found you online . Got your book its great . Cant wait to try todays lesson tmrw .. happy days . Love the guitar also.. can you try out the tele style maybe and give your opinion. Cheers mate
Hi Ricky. I get a bit annoyed when people in general mention Asian kids and their virtuoso skills. Yes they obviously put in tremendous hours of practice but anatomically kids are at a much bigger advantage in terms of flexibility. The human bone system in arms and legs for example is not fully formed until early adulthood, around 20-21 years of age and therefore kids have a lot more cartilage than us oldies in our 40s/50s/60s and beyond. It serves no purpose to compare us late beginners with youngsters as we are so different in terms of flexibility. If they drop off their musical interest and restart at a later age their advantage will not be their flexibility but their memory of what they learned. This means that us older players should concentrate on our knowledge and not beat ourselves up because we are not anywhere near the levels of a younger player.
Not specifically Asian kids. The video linked below is what I was on about. ua-cam.com/video/QvLD1wytwCs/v-deo.html I also mention Django Reinhardt who was paralysed in his pinky and ring finger. I was also thinking Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath and how he had chopped his finger tips off and still managed to become the godfather of metal. I could equally mention adults who play awesome guitar with their feet. The point I was making is when you look for excuses you'll find them, but if you look for inspiration you'll find that too. Having taught thousands of kids and adults alike for over 30 years, adults have way better motor control. The majority of kids struggle. This was a comment about mindset and not giving up.
@@rickysguitar Yes,fair enough. Its just that it seems to be the Asian kids who make the youtube videos, maybe the parents want the publicity? There are plenty of other kids all over the world with great skills too. I try to avoid those showing off vids as they arent going to help an inexperienced late 50s player like me!
What a lesson !! Wow 30yrs of playing guitar and now I find this !!! Epic
Thanks for this lesson. It's sinking in, believe or not. Slowly but surely. Exciting!

I have your book. I'm looking at it and the video. You lost me by calling out shapes early on in the class.
Watching a day after the live

How about AC/DC Beating Around the Bush
Living on a pair? Ill get my coat?
😂😂😂 I like it! Haha!
I don’t understand why it’s called a c shape?
There are 5 master chord shapes CAGED. I did a video ua-cam.com/video/ufAbg_MccJ0/v-deo.html
Seriously, why so few comments?!
I think when a live is processing after broadcast it doesn't get promoted. There were plenty during the livestream :)
My Girl…..

Another great one Ricky! Actually, I am probably better off with the replays, I focus too much on chat when its live.
Ricky great lesson. I’ve learned more in a week with your teaching style than in 10yrs with other teachers.
Great Lesson Ricky! Very helpful 😃
