Just discovered Ginger Root. Not sure whether it's 1 guy or a band. Regardless, the more I hear, the more I like! The singer reminds me of Dave Grohl but I can't put my finger on it just like this style. Awesome!!
Cameron, you really know how to end an album. With Mahjong Room, Ohio, and with Rikki, the title track. The fadeout and whistle gives me such a sense of longing and closure, like the things that I want to stay or remember, can't, and I just have to accept that. Great job, man.
Honestly Friend is such a good addition to this album. It really contrats with the rest of it with sounding a lot more calm and slow.. it sounds so eerie in the beginning, but then the beat and vocals hit and the calming vibe of the song hits. Just wonderful. Pleasantly surprised like always with Ginger Root :)
the whistle fading out at the end is so heartwarming. honestly, this is now my favourite album ever, I can't wait to listen to more amazing new musics from you
This album reignites my love for that lo-fi electronic feel, While being unique. From over a decade ago, neon indian, com truise, and of course many more. Thanks for the excellent album.
the first time I listened to this album from beginning to end (just a few weeks ago) I kind of just had it as background music at the same time as I was working. As the album progressed though, even though I wasn't listening with full undivided attention, I could really feel every emotion with every song. When the last track played though and I realized what the title of the album meant and the story that was being told I actually cried! Like, tears! It was such a unique experience for me because like. just wow. it's hard to explain how this album has made me feel but it's like the person the story is about (Cameron?) is me? I felt everything that Cameron felt, through music. And that truly is powerful.
listened to this like 10 times over and after months and months of knowing of this album (and your other music) it never gets old!!! i can listen to your music forever!
Mr. Lew can do no wrong! Saw an interview with him on some Yacht Rock documentary, caught my interest. Once I started listening, I had to hear it all. Never disappoints! I hope to catch the Ginger Root in Nashville this October.
Hello man, just found ur stuff and I just wanted to thank you and send a whole lotta love, discovering all this is a blessing :) Waiting for dat next EP in August!!! (Loretta is incredible)
This is beautiful! I'm very glad to have found you recently through the latest EP! Also, I suppose that mix-up would come from confusing "Tikki Tikki Tembo" with "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi", another book.
I am curious if maybe your memory of "Tikki Tikki Tembo" got wires crossed with "Rikki Tikki Tavi", a Rudyard Kipling story from The Jungle Book about a mongoose. More importantly though this album is amazing. Thank You.
Just finding this now, really solid stuff! As Crispy said, definitely has a taste of Toro Y Moi (especially his early June 2009 album, which I loved) and Tame Impala, but very unique as well. Official score...way UNDERRATED!
I don't have that book but I think my chinese cousins did when I was little because I remember saying Rikki Tikki Tembo when I was a kid for no reason (other than it was fun to say). Guess I know now
Hey, doubt you're going to see this but if you add the time stamps from the top comment to the description, the video will have chapters that will show when each song starts and ends!

rikki is criminally underrated
It's probably his most cohesive LP yet
I heard "Nominated" while shopping at Kohl's the other day. Got hooked and now I'm here. What up!

Friend is my fave.
I really like Why Try. It sounds dreamy but intense
Whenever I hear the intro to Friend I think it's going to be A Cruel Angel's Thesis because of the synth chords lol
I know I am a year late but I agree fully
ME TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This album feels like a perfect blend of Toro y Moi and Tame Impala. I can't get enough.

Going through the Ginger Root discography. So many good songs so far :D love that you're from OC too! Gotta support the locals lol
This guy tried to buy vinyl from these guys' show but didn't have enough cash so they just gave it to him
Interesting. Which show?
listened to this like 10 times over and after months and months of knowing of this album (and your other music) it never gets old!!! i can listen to your music forever!
A dear friend showed this artist to me a few months ago, and I've listened to him daily since. Can't wait for Johnny and Brenda's at the end of Sept!

Mr. Lew can do no wrong! Saw an interview with him on some Yacht Rock documentary, caught my interest. Once I started listening, I had to hear it all. Never disappoints! I hope to catch the Ginger Root in Nashville this October.
This album is just too underrated and needs more attention. Keep making more bangers, Cam!

Effin' glorious. Le Chateau lives rent free in my head... along with every other goddamn Ginger Root tune.
This is beautiful! I'm very glad to have found you recently through the latest EP!

I am curious if maybe your memory of "Tikki Tikki Tembo" got wires crossed with "Rikki Tikki Tavi", a Rudyard Kipling story from The Jungle Book about a mongoose.
More importantly though this album is amazing. Thank You.
Incredible Album, cannot stop playing it!
This album is awesome. I've been forcing everyone around me to listen to it. Also I'd love to know what synth/keys you're working with?
Tremendo Disco!!
Cameron- The name you were trying to think of was "rikki-tikki-tavi," a story with animal characters by Rudyard Kipling.
SO GOOD❤ Must have spent all my luck to find this (new fan here)

Cameron?
@@andynonymous6769 nah. Ginger root
This shit is beautiful
youre so underrated
Nice
I remember that book! I thought it was Rikki Tikki Tembo, too, though. 🤷♀️
I see now that I conflated the story about a mongoose (Riki Tiki Tavi) with the story about a boy whose name was too long (Tikki Tikki Tembo). My bad.
I don't have that book but I think my chinese cousins did when I was little because I remember saying Rikki Tikki Tembo when I was a kid for no reason (other than it was fun to say). Guess I know now
this is my 5th time listening to this, such a good album for hw and just chillin
LETS GO CAMERON!!!
