In my case, both buttons didn't work... Now after tring this I made the volume down work (It works perfectly btw, I just have to press It lightly to work, I have another G5 with both buttons functional and It is as easy to lower the volume in both devices). I will try again later and maybe try to improve the spacer a little bit. (Update below) [UPDATE] I tried it later that day and I couldn't make the Vol Up key work. After a couple of days I went again for It and just in case reseated the flex and the button worked for a bit, then I noticed that the flex wasn't sticking properly to the bottom so I decided to put a bit of alumin foil under It as well and now Both buttons are working fine. Thanks man for the Tutorial, I might as well replace the flex in the future if necesary, but for now It seems to be perfect.
Thank you thank you. An hour after I watched this video, I had my phone fixed. I am a DIYer from way back, more a jack-of-all-trades rather than any expert. I am now 69 years old with unsteady hands and a much slower thought process. The care you gave to the close-up shots made a huge difference. My message to your viewers is--Ha! If I can do it, you can too! Scuba is knowledgeable, clear, and cool.
thank you so much ! my phone just fell on the floor on its side so that's how I lost the volume function... I followed your simple repair and it fixed the problem!!! Francois Montreal
Volume buttons quit working so I thought I'd see how hard it is too replace them before buying new ones and stumbled upon your video. Little piece of tin foil and they work like new again Thank you!.I have a Samsung note 9 that has the same problem do you think there's a good chance I could apply this technique to that phone as well?
Vlad B: I haven't opened a Samsung Note 9 but they do have similar contact terminals between the front and back for the volume switch. Since those phones are glued together and not friction snapped together, it would be best to have a new volume switch on hand before reassembly. I hope that helps.
By watching you just now...I find pressing the screen by the controls works fine without have to deal with that. Considering I'm all thumbs. Thank you very much for the tip!
Reno Faoro: I'm glad the video helped. I always try that first. When it's not enough, it comes apart. I'm glad it was enough for you . . . this time ;-D. Thanks for the comment.
I feel as, I'm watching MacGyver 😁
High praise. Thank you.
Worked like a total effing charm. Thanks so much, brother!
