In this episode I sat down with friend of the channel Ian Robertson. He is a person with PD and has been on the channel in the last few months. In part 1, we discuss off times and whether or not it is a good idea to exercise when wearing off and also in training both sides of the body to move at their best.

Great topic. I find it very difficult to exercise through ofttimes but I believe it is important to do what you can do. Having a mobility aid during ofttimes can be helpful as well.
Most definitely! Thanks for your comment David, I’m glad you liked the video
I'm in PT for my balance problems now. I'm open to David to see what he has to share particularly when my PT is over.
Hey! Are you already a subscriber on David’s channel? Great information from his perspective of living with PD

Let him know I sent you. :-)
I don't think it's unsafe to exercise while off, but I do find it considerably more difficult to do so. I have mostly rigidity, and when I'm off my body tightens up far more quickly(15-20mins) vs I can do a full hour when on. So far, 3mos into a steady routine I have not been able to do much while off at all and I struggle to keep steady on a treadmill. Going to keep trying but my efforts will be focused while on levodopa.
I would agree and I would say that exercising when you’re on is the best way to maximize results of improving your symptoms and mobility.
What is off time?
Hey Phil, great question! This refers to the wearing off that folks with PD will often experience when approaching the next dose time for Levodopa. Essentially motor and non-motor symptoms can rear their ugly head until the next dose kicks in. There are many things to do to manage this, but it’s a constant juggle for folks between managing med timing to taking other meds to bridge the gap
