Think I’ve seen virtually all of them, his comedies are obviously his most famous, Annie Hall and Manhattan of course are classics. Even his non comedic work he isn’t in as an actor is excellent, if you’ve not seen Match Point give that a watch, excellent film.
@@punkoid76 yeah will check that one out. Think my favourite is Annie Hall. But he has done so many good ones. Have a big boxset with a load of his films. Will work my way through them.
@@MrSuperphil he’s definitely an auteur that appeals to certain people but not everybody. He’s definitely a one off and will be missed when he’s gone, the negative press he got in the nineties really hurt him, Mia Farrow was quite malicious and like Woody says, decades in the business worked with so many female leads yet not one complaint, even in the “me too” culture other than one bitter ex wife. Anyway, enjoy Match Point, it’s a great take on morality versus luck.
I've been watching a bunch of different Woody Allen movies for the past month, I'm a big fan now, he has made so many great movies but I think Hannah and Her Sisters is my favorite if I had to pick one.
Huge fan of Woody Allen and great to see a review of one of his movies Nobody talks about him anymore which is a great shame. Great review Phil and Bones 💀
Haha, funnily enough, I was thinking there must be a new MrSuperPhil video due and guess what, it's here.😀 I've not seen this film and to be honest romantic comedies are not for me. But thanks for the review. Max von Sydow was an excellent actor. He's in a great 1971 film called The Night Visitor. It's about a man sent to a really old prison that's seemingly impossible to escape from, but he does. Every night and goes back to the prison before morning. If you haven't reviewed it, you should. But I only liked Woody's films from the 1970s. 'Funny how older Hampkin was younger than Younger Hampkin. 🤣 Always interesting to hear yours and Bones' comments. Cheers!
Cheers Geoff. Will add The Night Visitor 1971 to my list. Sounds cool. Max Von Sydow was great in The Exorcist. That old age makeup looked amazing, i was surprised when i found out he was really a young man.
A couple of things made me laugh i.e. every male character in this movie is basically Woody Allen. Loved obsessed Caine and all controlling Von Sydow....it's basically Allen lol
Yes Caine could have easily been replaced by Woody Allen, they both act the same way. Great film, some really funny moments. Will have to review another Woody Allen film sometime.
Hey Phil, great review, I will give a Woody movie a watch, I've always respected his movies but I sort of shut them out maybe due to the way people talk in them, seemed annoying to me, that New Yorkity brownstone, self-absorbed stuff. But that was me as a kid thinking that and I've grown a bit and now I see that these are good movies and yet I still block them out of habit somehow which is weird of me. Will give one a watch. I do remember laughing to "Everything You Ever Wanted" as a kid and Sleeper. 😊
CORRECTIONS: • Hannah never found out that her husband was having an affair with her sister. • Woody and Mia were never married. • Woody did not marry his stepdaughter. Soon-Yi was not his stepdaughter, adopted daughter, or otherwise.
@@MrSuperphil They never lived together either. As a matter of fact, Woody never even stayed a single night at her apartment. He rarely even went there until Dylan was adopted. He barely even spoke to Soon-Yi until she was 20, and he and Mia were not even a couple at that point.
An 8?! What the feck?! That was Top Marks, brilliant film!!! Let Bones speak more! Please, NEXT review BANSHEES OF INNASHERAN when you can for fecks sakes!! Cheers?!
I recorded a full film commentary for this masterpiece earlier - years since I last saw it. The writing/acting is next level and Michael Caine 🔥
Great you did a full commentary for it. Must have been really interesting doing one of them.
Subscribed to you.
I’ve always liked Woody Allen, great writer and director. Watched Bananas and Sleeper on TV as a kid and liked him ever since.
Yeah i like his humour. Got a lot of his films to watch.

Cheers mate. I try to do a good mixture.
Hope you like the review

There are so many great films he made its difficult to pick a favourite. Think mine would be Annie Hall (1977).
@@MrSuperphil Nice, Annie Hall is a classic and I know it will never happen but I wish Allen and Keaton would work together one more time.
Yeah that would be great.

Cheers. Always liked Woody Allen. Love his humour.
Great review
Cheers mate.
Another different moment in Time captured on film.aine narrating was fantastic . Barbara Hershey is 74 and almost looks the same. Great review.
Cheers Tom. Barbara Hershey looks great in this film. Glad you enjoyed the review Tom.
Great stuff Phil,.one of Woody's best. He's an absolute genius ❤
Yes i love his movies. He makes me laugh. Great dialogue he writes.

Woody Allen made a funny movies.
Annie Hall is my favourite he did. Something about that film.
