I gave these lights out to my non flashlight enthusiast friends as birthday presents additions. This is in my opinion the best olight. The best light you have is the best light you have and this light is on my person at all times because I wear it around my neck.
"Hello everyone..."
This is your daily dose of flashlights 🔦
Great review man! Keep up the great work 🤙
I was very interested in the R1, but it had been replaced by the R2 by the time I made a purchase from Olight's brand new (at the time) Canadian affiliate. Like you, I got the R2 for free and one has lived on my key chain ever since. I love its simple interface and tiny size. It's just so convenient! You don't even know it's there, essentially. The 5 lumen output is fine for most "key chain" light uses, but it's amazing to know you have 150 lumens at your disposal whenever you need more light. Thanks for another good, solid and detailed review.
I have to agree, I think it's just about the perfect light for my keychain, as the interface is just so simple and easy, and the light pretty much disappears. I use the R1 myself, everyone is always impressed when I show it to them and it's pretty easy to convince others to get one. I'm glad you liked the review!
@@LuxWad Yes, I think these are the perfect lights, whether you're a flashlight enthusiast or not. The simplicity of the operation also makes them a perfect gift for the "non-flashlight geeks" in your circle. Simple, reliable and about perfect as a key chain light. I am loving your reviews very much. I like the humour and the attention to detail. Please keep it up!
I've got an R2 on my house keys, car keys, car keys, work keys, I give them away to friends, family, work people. Love them. Recently purchased a few of the R3.. excited to see the changes
The R3 looks pretty cool, I might have to try one out
Thank you for another excellent review!
("One Year Later") Nice job Lux. I really liked the depth-of-field use and the in-post graphics. Thanks for putting in the (really long) time. I caught your video a really long time later.
I really like to take the time to make the videos look as nice as possible, so I'm glad you appreciated it!
Good review, lots of detail on the plus and minus
Great review. Keep it up!
Great review. Subscribed!
I thought about the I1R when it first came out. I'm thinking your review will make me bite! I personally don't have any problem with the head coming completely off for charging, and the info about the LED is almost a show-stopper for the R2. Actually, your pickiness is refreshing for flashlight reviews, as too many reviewers let too many things slide! I like a critical eye! Thanks for the review. 👍
I'm really glad you appreciated the review! I hope you enjoy the light if you get it!
Never had the 1st one but have several colors of the 2nd and always have one with me along with at least 1 larger light.
Hey, thanks for the review. May I ask where you bought yours? Was it ebay? If so it might be a fake or just discard pile. My 2 came with a USB charging cable, and also is noticeably brighter than my original 1. The 20 lumens doesn't seem like much but it is. Not sure why yours isn't as high quality or didn't come with a cable... did they not come with cables when they first were released? On Olight website product includes a cable and package is less than $18. Thanks, be well.
I bought mine from Olight when it first launched. It is noticeably brighter then the V1 (the camera makes it looks the same but it's way more obvious in person), but the difference is pretty minor and in my opinion doesn't really affect its usability. Thanks for informing me, it's good to know they ship with cables now.
I will be getting an I1R2 for free with an order, I will stick a cutout of 1/2 temperature filter over the lens like I done with my I3E Cu.
can you swap led from r1 to r2?
It would be possible, but the optical assemblies are different so it wouldn't work very well. The resulting beam wouldn't look very good, and it would probably be far more trouble than it was worth.
LuxWad ok thanks
uhm the i1r2 comes with usb
Mine came with a cable
i2R come WITH the USB charging cable... And you can't loose the cap...
You said the V2 is less efficient and runs hotter than the V1. Wouldn't that simply be due to the fact that it's brighter?
Yeah probably. I don't know exactly which has the more efficient driver/LED but the drop in runtime seemed disproportionate to the increase in brightness.
@@LuxWad I see and thanks for the quick response. I love my V1 so much that I got my wife one, except hers came as a V2. I didn't even know there was an updated version then. I just checked out the V2 on Amazon kinda half ass figuring I wouldn't order one for myself then I saw it was also offered in a desert tan color. Click, BUY! LOL
Haha I didn't even know it came in desert tan, I would have purchased that version. When I made this review there was just black
Yeah i,ve Got a nice mmintgreen version nice Christmas present heehehe 😀😊😊
Nitecore tini 2 wins for me ,I retired this little ohlight it doesn't hold up
The TINI 2 is pretty great. What about the Olight didn't hold up for you?
@@LuxWad the threads on the twist became gritty feeling twisting it even after cleaning it up lens also doesn't look as clear as it once was. I'm hoping the tini will hold up better.
Ah that makes sense. The fact that these can't be disassembled means they're about impossible to clean once they get full of gunk, and the plastic lens doesn't hold up to scratches well
Idk if its me but at certain points you sound so similar to Ben Shapiro
No dude Fr!!!! Legit I noticed that too but I couldn’t pick out who his voice resembled
Right!
