I think the reason why your bread wasn’t rising was the fact that your liquid mixture that you put in to your yeast killed the yeast fungi. I saw steam coming off so I’m pretty sure that’s what happened lol 😂 🤍🤍🤍

I know how difficult breads can be and for your first try you did awesome! I applaud you for making a bread that is considered to be intermediate level on your first try! It looks really tasty! You DEFINITELY would have passed the classes I took! Side note: Yeast is a very picky organism and quite often people don’t get the results they wanted from it. Here are a few tips: * When proofing your yeast make sure that when you wrap the bowl or container it’s proofing in that you wrap it tightly! * Covering the bowl/ container with a towel after wrapping it will help provide that warm, moist, dark place that your yeast will need to rise. * Make sure the ingredients aren’t too hot or too cold unless the recipe specifies specific temperatures for your ingredients. *Do not over mix your dough or handle it too much because this causes a build up of gluten and the will will have to proof longer so that it can be properly relaxed and workable! * Relaxing the dough will help to make it less dense and gummy! * DO NOT ADD SALT DIRECTLY INTO YEAST AND WATER MIXTURE! THIS WILL KILL YOUR YEAST! Add the salt on top of all of the other dry ingredients. *Dissolve dry yeast in a water temperatures between 110°F - 115°F. If yeast is added directly to the dry ingredients, liquid temperatures should be 120°F - 130°F. If the yeast is dissolved in liquids that are either too hot or too cold IT WILL DIE! * When yeast is fully dissolved the water will look cloudy, air bubbles should be forming. Also, letting the yeast froth gives it some time to eat the sugar it needs to survive.

I have baked bread before, never with a bread machine, thermometer, or mixer. All by hand. One of my absolute favorite bread recipes is from a website called butterwithasideofbread and the recipe is called easy homemade bread. It does take four or five hours to make, but it is so worth it, if you want to try bread again I strongly recommend it. It's the first bread recipe I have ever tried and everyone who's tried it asked how it turns out so good, light, and fluffy. Strongly recommend the recipe, it's a great recipe even for beginners!
To anyone who like baking I suggest you should try the Ballinger Family’s recipe for bread. And I also have a suggestion for bread to taste better, before you put bread in the oven(if it’s plain bread) put garlic powder on the top or rosemary,salt and pepper, and a tiny bit of cinnamon

For yeast to work you have to have the exact temperature of water/milk it tells you. Also when I make bread I proof it with olive oil I pour some into the bowl I then get a baking brush and brush the olive oil on the sides for the bowl. That’s how I bake and I hope this helps!

If liquids are too hot, there is a risk of killing the yeast or over-stimulating it to multiply too quickly, thus causing the dough to overproof (rise inconsistently). On the other hand, if liquids are too cool, the yeast will not activate properly and the dough will rise too slowly or not at all.

My sister bakes for our family and it's definitely a whole day thing. That's why she usually bakes about 3 or more batches. I also think you killed the yeast because you said you overheated the milk. Maybe that's why the dough didn't proof. You should definitely try it again. Once you've baked an extremely fluffy brioche, you can never go back to store-bought ones ever again.
for my family, we use a small touch of flour on the sides of the bowl and a little bit on the top of the dough to help it rise. then to spread the butter, we use a spatula w room temp butter, then we sprinkle it with anything basically. it turns out good

Tip: Your bread dough didn't rise because ur Milk was too hot and it killed the yeast. If you try again make sure the Milk is only slightly warm to the touch or on the cooler side of lukewarm, And not steaming like how yours was.

Why is nobody telling her that her bread wasn’t rising because the milk was too hot. You need it to be warm to actually activate the yeast.
If the bread was sitting for 2 hours, then the milk would have warmed up and activated it, I don't think that's the reasoning

If liquids are too hot, there is a risk of killing the yeast or over-stimulating it to multiply too quickly, thus causing the dough to overproof (rise inconsistently). On the other hand, if liquids are too cool, the yeast will not activate properly and the dough will rise too slowly or not at all.

My sister bakes for our family and it's definitely a whole day thing. That's why she usually bakes about 3 or more batches. I also think you killed the yeast because you said you overheated the milk. Maybe that's why the dough didn't proof.
You should definitely try it again. Once you've baked an extremely fluffy brioche, you can never go back to store-bought ones ever again.

for my family, we use a small touch of flour on the sides of the bowl and a little bit on the top of the dough to help it rise. then to spread the butter, we use a spatula w room temp butter, then we sprinkle it with anything basically. it turns out good

Tip: Your bread dough didn't rise because ur Milk was too hot and it killed the yeast. If you try again make sure the Milk is only slightly warm to the touch or on the cooler side of lukewarm, And not steaming like how yours was.
