- A unbiased review of the Inesis Distance 100 golf ball: at under £5 for a dozen, how good is this "budget" golf ball?

These balls are cheap because they are designed to help beginners get into the game - to provide an affordable, new golf ball which offers all that a beginner really needs. I chose not to compare them to the market competitor, instead buying second hand balls which cost about the same...to see how they compared!

This is great Joe, thanks. I'm on a mission to prove to people and myself to be honest that golf doesn't have to be expensive.. so please keep these reviews coming because i'm just getting back into the game after years off and don't want to go spending crazy money just yet.
I've played with this ball for since late last year.At 41p each they represent wonderful value.I've been playing golf for 35 years and used to use ProV 1X and obviously they cost over 3 pound each. The difference between the 2 balls is very little.,apart from around the greens. However bear in mind most golfers leave the ball short on chips and putts, and I find the extra hardness of this ball to be a bonus.
On tight pitches over a bunker, with little green to work with, give me a more expensive ball every time, but apart from that, I find them perfectly acceptable, and excellent value. At just under a fiver a dozen you can't go far wrong !
I play them from time to time... I don't feel that there's as much difference as you make it sound. Distance is relatively similar (at times I even find the distance 100 to be a bit shorter than the Tour 900 I normally play. Spin is obviously very different, but I'm a high spin, high trajectory player and even with the distance 100 my full shots stop pretty dead where they land (on greens, even though our greens are rock hard at the moment) so no problems for shots longer than 80 yards. The problem as you put it, is around the green... Now, they are consistent in their "not spinning" so you just adjust for that. Putting is a bit harsh, but manageable, again. I just shot a very decent +7 round with them (even with "proper balls" I don't shoot very often much less than that, so really, I tend to play them on every hole where there's even a remote chance of losing the ball (water or trees in the wrong places and so on) as we don't have a "one ball rule" in play and I'm not happy loosing expensive balls.
I appreciate that and do agree, to an extent. I think one issue was switching between the two types of ball while I was testing made the difference in feel and spin much more obvious - if you played a whole round (or a few) with them I'm sure you'd get used to it and certainly you would adapt to the difference in spin characteristics. Honestly, I do think the ball offers exceptional performance when you take the price into consideration but, personally, even for the price I would rather have a softer ball around the greens and when putting. It all comes down to personal preference I suppose!
Enjoying these honest open reviews on inesis. I’m a beginner and your video helped picking the dry grip shoes! I also picked up 2 dozen of the distance 100 and found they were pretty unforgiving in flight. Hopefully as I improve I won’t be losing as many! Cheers joe
I am working my way through the range of Inesis balls the Distance ball was impressive for "Distance" but didn't have the spin and didn't stop on the greens. I am now on the soft-ball which I must say is very good. It stops and spins and I'm getting 120 yards + out of my P wedge, it's not costing me any distance.
For me this ball is really good for two reasons. Firstly, of course, for the times when there are leaves lying around all over my 9-hole golf course and balls are always hiding. But even more so because the ball gives me immediate feedback. If I hit it badly it feels really hard and if I hit it well then the feeling is very soft. And other golf balls don't give me that. Other balls may perform better in front of and on the green, but with my handicap of just over 20, that's not noticeable. I don't take it for a tournament. Probably due to superstition.
'Designed to be lost' I love it! 🤣🤣👍
very straight reviews, thks
Great rew. Love to see a test on inesis new wedges!
Thank you! I'll see what I can do, I'd love to give them a try myself!
Never used them but you are right price of golf balls is daft just bought Bridgestone but last years model
Great video, man. Regards from Spain!
I just received a dozen Inesis 100 balls in the post. Should they be eggshell dull or shiny?
dull
It seems the new ones are coming dull. Had my brother pick up a couple of boxes for me a few weeks back. I bought a lot of them in 2020 and they were shiny, must be a new presentation.
If the biggest difference between a cheap ball and a urethane ball is feel with a putter... just get a soft face putter. Wood comes to mind, I bet they'll feel fine with an old school wood head putter.
As far as backspin goes, most of the time we get backspin when we're too short anyway hahaha.
You cannot find better for that price, for my opinion, very good balls for beginner golfers.
Nice review mate 👍🏼
Nice review Joe. I’ve been playing these post lockdown too and have filmed a comparison with the Tour 900, just need to edit this week 👍
Ps I like the new location for the talking head, looks much better 👍 wish I had somewhere like that to film 😂
Honest review again.
Thanks Paul, glad you liked it!
10 euro for a dozen now, bought them for my son's starter set but wouldn't play them. Get some lake balls.
