Love your channel! I just had a Vanguard set up and have a question about filter cleaning. I did buy an extra Tri X to rotate the circulation pump (on your advice :) ). When I clean all five, do I need to kill power to the tub? Or can I just put a clean filter in the gray standpipe and clean the other 4 in the dishwasher? Live in MN so the cold days freak me out if I need to kill the power. Thank you!
Aww Thanks.... I really appreciate it. Subscriptions are awesome. If you are just cleaning the filters and will get it done with in a few hours you can leave the pumps on. If you are dropping the water level (as in draining the tub) you will want to kill the power. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it. 😍
great video, what about the spot remover that is in the dishwasher , will this hurt the filters, if you use a regular wash cycle, our dealer told us just to use the rinse cycle only
Love your channel! I washed my tri-x filter in the dishwasher for then first time. I cut the heat dry off and washed on the normal cycle without any soap. When I opened the dishwasher the filters were obviously pretty warm. I assume it’s ok for the water to be hot on the dishwasher but you just don’t use the heat cycle. Is this correct?
I would not recommend it. You could try but it may ruin the filter. If you have an older one you are willing to trash your could try it. I do know that is a fairly pricey filter.
Like most dishwashers, mine has a rinse agent reservoir. I assume the rinse agent is released during the rinse cycle. Will this rinse agent have any negative impact on Tri-X filter cleaning in the dishwasher?
2 questions 1. Can I do this with a pleatco filter from a Viking tub? 2. What is your favorite hot tub clarifier. I’ve been using leisure times clarifier it’s kind of a process
I do not have a rinse only cycle on my dishwasher and am concerned the rinse aid will be a problem. In the winter, when it’s below freezing, can I simply rinse the units in a sink or tub?
Yes, it is best that you do not use a rinse aid when cleaning your hot tub filters. You can use a sink to clean your filters, however, you will need a pretty high-pressure hose.... you wouldn't be able to use just the faucet. if you have a garden hose set up in the garage or laundry room that is ultimate. Here is a video with some accessories that can help you get that set up correctly.ua-cam.com/video/4poHAl8ZdSs/v-deo.html
I’d like to try the Plearco filter cleaning tabs with my Tri-X filters but want to check something with you first. The pleatco website says 1 tablet cleans 2 filters. Do you put more than one filter cleaning tab in your cooler that has all 5 Tri-X filters in it?
Hello... Thanks for the great question. Most hot tubs only have 1-2 filters. I own a Hot Spring Highlife spa and it has no by-pass filteration so they typically have 3-5 filters. No you are not missing anything. I hope that helps you out. :-)
I do not have an option to change the heat on my dishwasher. The lowest heat is 50° C or 122° F. Is that a problem? I can just take them out before thw drying cycle. My dishwasher has an economy cycle that it dries with the door open
To each their own I guess, but the thought of washing the filters, that clean the people soup water, in my dishwasher that would then next cycle wash my drinking glasses.....ummm yea no, hard pass.
@@TheHotTubLady Actually no, I did just recently get one so have I been spending a lot of time at YT university. I think my preference will be the three filter rotation method. One in service with weekly rinses and monthly changes, one in a soak/rinse/dry and one on the shelf clean and ready. I am a heavy user at this point so if that lessens I will certainly extend the change intervals. Also I was not knocking the idea of using a dishwasher, I just would not want to use mine for filters AND my dishware.

You do not need to kill the power to clean the filtets
Your videos have been so helpful - thank you!
I'm so glad!
I actually clean my paper element spa filters the same way. Once with detergent and another cycle without as a rinse. No heat of course. Works !
As long as you aren’t getting bubbles go for it. 😀
great video,
what about the spot remover that is in the dishwasher , will this hurt the filters, if you use a regular wash cycle, our dealer told us just to use the rinse cycle only
I would agree with this. If you are using an additive in your dishwasher yes use the rinse only cycle.

Yes. You will be fine. No heated dry cycle! 😀
Do you pre rinse the filters before putting them in the dishwasher? Do you worry about contaminating your dishes afterwards?
Not at all the heat of the dishwasher when you turn that back in will kill anything I would worry about
Thank u.
Thank you
Have my filters for a year now. Are they still able to go longer? Still look good.
Check the fibers if they are not breaking and you are able to clean it well you could get buy unless you have super high calcium
We have a Limelight Flash - are our 2 filters the Tri-x ones you can put in the dishwasher?
Thanks!
Just the ceramic tri x filters can go in the dishwasher
@@TheHotTubLady I don't know if ours are ceramic. . . . . . .
@@cherylfox3655 yours are paper with the limlight
@@TheHotTubLady Okay, thank you!
Will a filter from a Sundance 880 Optima be acceptable to use in for dishwasher cleaning?

It would be best if that is empty
Thanks. So important to keep the world best filtration system clean.
Absolutely!
Does rinse-aid mess with it? I want to clean it but there’s still rinse aid in dishwasher
I have done it both ways it is better without for sure
@@TheHotTubLady thank you. I was worried it would ruin things like soap

No you can’t put a pleatco filter in a dishwasher... I’m sorry. I like Spa-guard water clarifier is my favorite

I do 3 tabs for 5 filters. They work amazingly. Thanks for the support
@@TheHotTubLady - where do you purchase them from? Pleatco appears to only sell the Pool filter cleaning tabs on Amazon, not the spa filter tabs.
@@pasqualz as far as I know they are the same I am not aware of them being dofferent
What if they are not the ceramic kind? And they are fabric.
No they shouldn’t go in the dishwasher. Sorry
Hi! Why do you have so many filters?
Ours only has one. Am I missing some?

I have 6 filters for my inflatable hot tub. So there's always one handy to change them.

Yes just do not run the dry cycle
Don't forget to turn off your rinse aid feature!
Yes thank you!!
Always use dishwater (phosphate free) detergent with this. Just soak them in a bucket. I’ve been doing this for 18 years now
I recommend no detergent but it is a great hack! Thank you
The dishwasher method does absolutely nothing but give you the sense of them being clean. Without using dish detergent, its useless.
I disagree but thank you so much for watching.
