NAPOLEON!! I met him in Washington this year. Amazing dood. Positive, inspiring... he hit the border, turned around, and started walking south. I just heard from a friend that talked to him. Says he's shooting for Ashland.
zach rotondo I'm so to hear he was/is on the PCT. In my interview I had several question. He just went off in a very well opinionated description and I didn't say a word. I just let him go.
zach rotondo haha! I did over 60 interviews of thrus in 2012. I baited them with amazing trail magic in VA. I mean really, really great magic at random Shenandoah National Park road xings. Napolean was the only one to say what he had to say and book it back to the grub. The guy was in love with discovering long distance hiking.
The time lapse around two minutes is absolutely the best time lapse I've ever seen you do. The composition is right, and the horizon contrast -- the glow and the sky -- that's beyond magnificent. Really -- that's art that competes with the best out there.
Thank you Lash. I'm so happy you saw this. As an AT thru hiker yourself I know you have lived this. 2000 was a most brutal winter. We shared a lot, but even during the worst part of winter I can proudly say that as low on water as I ever was, I never drank out of your "piss bottle".
Me to Captain. Me to. I'm always kind of excited to meet people like Napoleon who do just that. People who speak like he does right off the cuff without any sort of set up, or thought out reply. He's a blue collar guy just like us, and made his bones as a roofer during "Katrina". He had no fancy gear. One hiker described him as "eating gallon bags filled with oatmeal". He was struggling to financially support himself to Katahdin. But I bet you and me both know he makes it there.
Thank you my friend, and since I know you are a man that does not "mince words" may I say I am very happy you thought so. I mean I gave my all setting up that camera, and spent the entire night changing out batteries for that shot. I'm glad it paid off. I was happy with the end product, and I'm glad I'm not alone in that. Especially given the amount of times I reviewed the shot, which was a lot.
Thanks for that Joe. Thanks for letting me know about the ATC doing this contest too. It's kinda fun being in on something like this. I thought all of the entry videos were great. It's nice to see people get involved in this, no matter who wins.
Oh yeah! This is totally the winner. You did it again Kook. Remind everyone to go to this site and vote for your vid: Voting Period: Tues., Sep 4th thru Fri., Oct 5th. I'll post this site on my FB and email it to friends. Good Luck!
Look into a battery grip if you're doing that kind of length. Yeah, that sequence was stunning. Make that the title screen for your film. At the very least you could make some money selling that as stock footage. It's more than good enough to hold up in the very best of stock footage marketplaces.
I hope all viewers, hikers, video lovers, AT family, friends, thru hikers, UA-cam subscribers, FB friends, and more will checkout your awesome AT video and show some love and support by VOTING for your entry!
Wow! I was just thinking about you guys the other day! How are you all, how's your family? Dude you have to friend me on FB. There is a link to it on my YT channel page. Just click the icon to the left of this message here.
You have definitely given an 0inspiring talk. I wish you could take my friend's floundering and troubled 20 year old son with you along the trail. Maybe your approach to life would rub off on him.
ROCK... God's grace abounds. What a great way to spend time in His presence.

I wish i could express what i want to say like this guy...I have trouble finding "those" words.
WORD!
Well put. For a "joe bag of donuts" blue collar guy, he sure put things into perspective. He was a very nice young man.
Indeed. It is a pilgrimage of sorts...
It is, and he could, except he got the "bug". A Bug that will keep him long distance hiking for some time I imagine.
presidents, generals, kings, billionairs.......they'll never know......they'll never know.

I imagine they've already contacted you with a stack of paperwork, but give a nudge when the voting starts anyway.
