Absolutely love mine. Enough volume to match your un amplified voice for busking. It is also small enough to walk and play. It also works great as a preamp for a louder speaker Only design flaw. Placement of powder switch means it is way too easy to turn the amp on while you're putting it away That means dead batteries when you go to use it again .Add something to shield switch from accidental power ons. Huge success in a micro amp; excellent clear tone. A friend, way better than me, couldn't help from sitting there envying the tone of this little amp against his Street Cube amp. Yeah, volume is stronger on bigger, more expensive amps. But, that is not the point of an amp lighter and smaller than your kid's lunch box.
I've been meaning to buy a small little amp for a year or two now. I was going to buy one of the old Vox ones but they stopped making them and people said the new ones weren't as good. I'm buying blind as I can't get in to a music shop. I'm going to get the Katana I think. Lost of guitarists I respect say it sounds great, plus it always does sound great in the demos from them. I've watched dozens of them now and this little amp never fails to impress over headphones and youtube audio compression. It's got just the right amount of controls needed and I think it will make a great compliment to my Fender Mustang. God I love that Mustang to death. It doesn't do distortion or overdrive very well, but it's saturation is second to none. Lots of people don't know the difference between those three things, but as someone that has studied a little bit of DSP, there is a difference. It's amazing how the mustang actually gets more distorted the harder you hit the strings - that is saturation coming in to effect - it's one of the hardest things to get right in amp modeling but they nailed it. Anyway, this Katana sounds great to my ears. I'm definitely getting one.
123ubuntu666 mate this video doesn't do Katana justice it really does sound better in the flesh, it will definitely complement the Mustang perfectly as the amp also responds to how hard you play and yes I understand all about saturation. From all the mini amps I've played this is the best by a mile in my opinion.
If you’re ever in the market for a truly great small amp, this one is a good choice but have you ever tried a Pignose? It’s not too versatile (it’s basically a fuzz pedal with a tiny speaker) but it’s fantastic for practice and recording and it takes pedals really well. If it was good enough for Zappa to record all of Over-Nite Sensation on, it’s good enough for me.
@@theguitarmanifesto lol turned out not what he was asking for but nice to know. Great video mate. Would you still recommend getting this over like a box Pathfinder 10 or a blackstar Id core?

Yeah just woke up at the time I did give the correct answer soon after :)
Katana all the way for me
For the price of it, they should have used real wood, not PLASTIC! Too expensive for what it is.
