Following her since see won NGT at 8 years old until today with her 18 birthday in January where she has delighted the world by her singing. However see needs Republic to get an orchestra and do more concerts so people will know of her great talents.
Not bad for a 9 year old. Take a fifties classic song by Screaming Jay Hawkins, arrange the music and then sing like a 40 year old jazz singer. This girl is a gift to us all. Welcome to Angelina's world.
I Put a Spell on you I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 17 years old... That is unfathomable. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her.
You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻
Great reaction to the G.O.A.T. She will be a Musical Legend. This Masterpiece will be known as the greatest performance ever by a 9 year old. Barely 9 here and does her own arrangements. Just incredible.
The first time I saw this performance I thought I'd never ever seen anything as amazing as this! I also thought at.9 I was playing barbies lol....she commanded the room of seasoned performers ....born to sing...would love you to hear "A million years ago" and "It's a man's world '!
See her magnificent huge live outdoor performance age 8 the year before. Complete with back up singers. It's shows her vocal versatility, though equally great her vocal colour and timbre are completely different to suit the song. Please react to WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKE.
What you just listened to should not be possible. It's one thing to understand how to do the many different things she is making her voice do, quite another to string them all together in such a mature, musical fashion with such taste and imagination, is another. This girl is one of a kind and I hope you continue to pursue your exploration. You won't regret looking further into 'the Girl with a Thousand Voices'. 😎
You will soon find out that you have at least 20 songs on your top 5 songs list, from Angelina. That note you saw her writing, at the start, was a last min wish list for changes she wanted to make to the song. At 9 years of age, most children are barely writing coherent sentences. She arranging songs, directing musicians, and becoming a published author. There is no question you were amazed with this performance. If you go and listen to Screaming Jay Hawkins’ version and listen to this without stopping to comment, you will rise to a whole new level of amazement. ❤
Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful by Angelina (which she also arranged) - at age 9. As mentioned by may others she has an extensive catalog (180+) of great covers & some of her own original songs. But - in order to better understand her musical roots - I highly recommend all 4 of her Norway Got Talent performances: Gloomy Sunday, I'm A Fool To Want You (both by Billie Holiday), Bang Bang & Summertime - at ages 7-8. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and gives them some instructions. There are English subtitles as the spoken language is Norwegian: ua-cam.com/video/SAkZDAXJA4E/v-deo.html
It's time to wind back the clocks even more. Here are her 4 Norway's Got Talent performances. Of these, be sure to use the links provided for NGT 1 and NGT 4 ("Summertime" and "Gloomy Sunday"). The NGT 1 video is of her performing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday. This video has English subtitles on the screen. It has pre- and post-performance content in which Angelina talks about herself (this is the earliest video we have access to that has Angelina speaking about herself). She's so tiny that she twice fails to get into the chair for her interview. I recommend playing this entire first video. The final performance, NGT 4, has English closed captions that you will need to turn on at your end. This video has a lot more pre- and post-performance content, which are missing in all other UA-cam links for this performance. The NGT 4 video begins a lot like an AGT spotlight would, featuring the singer. While she now has 2 permanent teeth, side-by-side, she's still so small that her feet stick straight off the edge of the bench she sits upon. She talks about her experiences on the show and what she's about to show us. This is followed immediately by her singing "Summertime" in the style of Ella Fitzgerald's and Louis Armstrong's rendition. The third segment of NGT 4 contains the judges speaking to Angelina about the effect she has left each of them with. Many of their comments are quite prophetic, and they are called to mind again and again whenever I hear her sing. Two of these judges appear alongside Angelina in several UA-cam videos, weeks and months after she won. The final segment of this NGT video contains the naming of the three highest scoring performer(s), and from there, the naming of the victor. This segment runs almost 5 more minutes. At a minimum, I recommend you play the first 3 segments. Then, if you want to see this littlest angel winning the 2014 competition, you would include the last segment. NGT 1 - "GLOOMY SUNDAY" (pre/post performance with English subtitles) - ua-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/v-deo.html NGT 2 - "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU" (sung entirely acapella), another BillieHoliday inspired song - ua-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/v-deo.html (How does she maintain pitch and tone without any backing track?) NGT 3 - "BANG BANG" inspired by Nancy Sinatra's rendition - ua-cam.com/video/cSEO3IMVtCI/v-deo.html NGT 4 - "SUMMERTIME" (spotlights Angelina, pre/post performance, winning NGT, and has English CC) - ua-cam.com/video/zN4kAof1is0/v-deo.html
Here is how i categorize her songs. There are 4 categories 4. Good ones, 3. Very good ones, 2. Amazing, 1. I can't believe it. Most of her songs fall in category 1 and 2.
Thanks for the wonderful reaction, guys. This song is one of the important steps to understand the singularity of Angelina's talent. It's unreal like her, from a very young person, she agreed to use her incredible passion and understanding of her through music in a splendid way, especially for these legendary songs. She is definitely the only 9-year-old girl who has the courage and the ability to sing this song from Screaming'Jay, so imbued with her power, and reorganize it according to her musical sensibility and vision. I sincerely believe that this it's the most beautiful version of this song, over 60 years since it was written, without embargo, there are much of versions of it, also sung by great interpreters. 💛🧡❤
*You have found a diamond in the rough, the needle in the haystack, and gone down the rabbit hole, so, you're in for one hell of a ride.* *New sub here.*
Angelina is 9 in this performance video. She made her own arrangement based on the 1956 "Screaming" Jay Hawkins original. Jazz/Blues. Her maternal grandparents played the old jazz greats for her from at least birth on, if not before. I'll check out your next reaction video featuring Angelina Jordan. Thank you so much for all that goes into these. Grandma Ellen, out.
There are always people with less than nice reactions, don’t know why, perhaps they stubbed their toe, but don’t let them get to you. Just ignore them and they will float to the bottom :-) If you see this sweet little girl it is quite impossible to match it with what you hear but it is very easy to love and enjoy. The original is by Screaming Jay Hawkins and was also sung by Bette Midler for Hocus Pocus. Angelina has done many amazing performances and whichever song you chose next, it is hard to go wrong :-) Keep it up!
This Hocus Pocus thing is occasionally mentioned when people try to remember the original, but actually the song that Bette Midler sang has absolutely nothing in common with Jay's original aside from the line "I put a spell on you". Here is a lyric video of this witch song - try to find another line which is in the original ua-cam.com/video/iaZQoBqlMng/v-deo.html
Glady to see you both back for more Angelina Jordan; once isn't enough! Angelina was 9 yrs old went she recorded her version of Screamin' Jay Hawkins's original song "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU." The scene in the video shows Angelina writing her arrangement of how she wants the studio band to make some changes to the song earning her the nickname " The Boss." The results of the Studio Bands' collaboration with Angelina have become one of the most viewed Jazz videos requested to date!
Angelina is noted for her self-confidence whenever she is performing. In her own words: I enter my own world of music when I sing. When you delve into the wonderful Angelina Jordan rabbit hole, make sure you play all her early performance videos to the very end! There are many priceless moments when you can see the supremely confident performer quietly transform back to being an unassuming, shy little girl.
Absolutely phenomenal performance from 9 years old Angelina, AJ actually arranges this version herself paying tribute to the original artist Screaming J Hawkins a blues musician from the 1950s , Angelina is the boss she is commanding the performance , Angelina is so special her technical ability surpasses her years, great performance from the barefoot Princess with a thousand different styles and voices, great reaction thanks 🙏
Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.
Thank you for your second reaction to Angelina. She is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on UA-cam, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
Hi guys, great reaction, I've subscribed to your channel. I'm 63 and have been a lover of music all my life. I have never heard a voice like angelina's. She's easily the best vocal talent to come along in a century, I believe if she keeps singing she'll rise to the heights of Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley easily. I don't know if you know who Quincy Jones is but when Angelina was 12 she sang in London for Quincy's 85th birthday. He told her that she reminds him of Michael Jackson. That's high praise for a 12 yo coming from someone who knows
This song is all about obsession and possession, subject matters which no 9 year old girl would have - except Angelina is 90 years old, at least her soul! Great reaction, kids. I noticed that the sound was ever-so-slightly out of sync with the video. I really suggest headphones if you can. Thanks again.
The Candle she is holding in the beginning of the video, the guy on it is Screamin' Jay Hawkins. The Original artist of the song, from 1956. Everything Angelina does is amazing and performed to honor the Original artist. Great reactions, guys.
Last December I was scrolling thru youtube videos and came across AJ singing this classic. Even thought I am a rock and roller from way back when, I remember this song because my 2 older sisters loved this and would try to sing it like Jay Hawkins after drinking a couple of beers Fun to watch them carry on. I was never into jazz but because of AJ singing this song, being awestruck with her performance I started to listen to the greats in jazz like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse and so many more. AJ is one special talent, and I adore her singing. She knocks me out! Recently I have come across someone who I feel is a very special singer, like Angelina and even though she recently "retired" from the music industry, (she's about 38 years of age now) she has left an indelible mark in the music world especially in the jazz type of songs she has covered. Her name is Alice Fredenham Have you heard of her? She has produced only one album, however youtube has a slew of her covers. Two in particular I want to suggest as possible reaction(s) to is her first audition of Britain's Got Talent singing "My Funny Valentine" That performance has 88 million views on UA-cam! She threw me for a loop with her performance and she wowed the audience and the judges. The other is her live studio video recording of "Why Don't You Call Me" Like AJ's "I Put A Spell on You", its in black & white and a spectacular performance! I think if you do a reaction to either one, you will thoroughly enjoy her singing style. If you only do one, I suggest then BGT audition. By the way I have been listening to your reactions for over 6 months now and thoroughly enjoy your them, especially to the R&R and to AJ. Peace, Love and Groovy Tunes...
Evan if u heard her before, & know she's amazing this is the one that blows your mind but still don't over look the band . This is the Best video i ever seen. Perfect!
Yes, this has become a classic on its own. Here, Angelina, at 9 yrs 2 mos old, has captured the essence of the original song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956 in her arrangement. In the intro you can see her writing out and passing last-minute changes to the arrangement to a member of the band. They may have gone in that day and been taken aback by playing for a nine-year-old, but by the end of the day they were calling her, "The Boss." After auditioning for Norway's Got Talent at seven and winning it at eight, she was literally a professional by age 9! Now, at seventeen, she has written 5 songs, sung two written for her, and covered about 170 other songs of 75 different artists. She is signed to Republic Records. She is the real deal.
Her Grandmother introduced AJ to her Jazz records collection when she was 2 yo!! So she spent her young childhood listening to Jazz with her Grandmother and it clearly seeped into her developing brain and hugely affected her ability to really grasp Jazz sounds, music and nuances! Imagine being educated into Jazz music from age two! Her Grandmother is A Jazz Gangster! ❤😂
Love this, thanks for sharing! 💖 You really should consider getting some headphones or earplugs! Laptop speakers dont do good music justice, especially with Angelina, the nuances in her voice have nuances. And, dont get me wrong, it will boost your credibility, and with it also your channel. All the popular music reactors on YT use headphones or atleast earplugs. Anyways, thanks again and see you in the next one 🌹
Great reaction guys thx. Now if you want to hear Angelina really go off on a song when she is a couple of years older check out her 2017 Proysenfestivalen where she performs the song Loving You at 11 years of age. Enjoy.
I would recomend the next 2 you should try should be "Easy On Me" by Adele. AJ was 15 on that studio recording. Next you should listen to AJ's version of "Suspicious Mind's" an Elvis Tribute where AJ takes his 70's big band song and flips it into an RnB / Jazz fusion, it'll blow your mind. She was 16 on that video. If you want to still hear her earlier stuff then you can't pass up her rendition of "I'd Rather Be Blind" by Etta James at age 12, or a Jazzy piano bar rendition of MJ's "Billy Jean" when she was 14. Enjoy the rabbit hole. Cheers guys!
I've been following AJ now for about 7 years and its still always exciting and amazing when someone else finds her. We had her to ourselves for a long time, I'm glad people are finally realizing we could be experiencing one of the greatest vocals so all time.. A true artist who writes arranges and records, And unmatched tone and vocal fry. Great reaction guys keep up the good work.. I hope you do, " all I ask" It will tell you all you need to know about AJ.✌️
Fun FUN reaction 😁 I Always enjoy seeing 1st reactions to this particular, and very popular, video... The synchronized raising of your eyebrows was so entertaining... Because it reflected how amazed you were with the voice you were hearing...this will alway be the case..as hers is ONE OF A KIND!🙃🙃 Can't wait to hear your next one, great job!! PEACE!
Angelina Jordan is a child prodigy she rented all her own music. She speaks three languages English or third language of Norway nine years and two months old when she did this song by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins ice cream and Jay Hawkins 1956.
Screamin' Jay Hawkins wrote this as a typical song of the genre but everyone was a bit tipsy during the original recording and they got a bit carried away producing what some have called the original (or at least very early) shock rock performance. They decided to go with it and it was a commercial success, leading to JH's Screamin' name. The original by him was highly theatrical (medicine man bit) but AJ took it back to a serious vein with deeply felt emotions while keeping the intensity. This is her arrangement and is highly original while paying homage the JH, especially his original story in the song before he took off in that somewhat goofy shock rock direction.
It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). "Screamin" Jay Hawkins original "I Put A Spell on You" ua-cam.com/video/orNpH6iyokI/v-deo.html
Great reaction again guys ; ) This one is an masterpiece , gonna go down in Jazz history and be studied for year to come , if YT had an Hall of Fame this one would be in it ; )) i saw ur reaction that AJ was barefooted , she always do that when perform u soon will notice. Their is an special reason why she wear no shoes, she is Norway youngest published author at age 9 that explain why she sing barefooted ; ) So where to go next hmmm ..why not go to her Norway Got Talent Audition singing Billie Holidays Gloomy Sunday , that where it all started so to speak ; ) ua-cam.com/video/rI6ZhRk86Hs/v-deo.html enjoy guys ; ) have a good one take care an stay safe ; ))
I just subscribed or more Angelina! Any song she sings is ok by me, but try her singing STAY at age 12, or My Funny Valentine from last February and only age 16 and one month old. The most sultry and best rendition of that old jazz standard ever!
She won Norway's Got Talent at 7 yrs old. She's been singing since she was 18 months old. She is now 17 years old and living in LA. "I Put a Spell on You" is a 1956 song written and composed by Jalacy "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins, whose own recording of it was selected as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. She is holding a candle with Jay's picture on it.
@albert stern I watched the show when she told the judges she was 7 when she won. Also just re-listened to her interview, and she said she 7. Thanks for the straw that broke the camel's back.Hugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@bella-xp7qd She was born 1/10/2006. On 1/10/2014 she turned 8. The show started late in 2013 but went for months and ended in mid 2014. She could not have won at 7 and if you keep looking it up, all news articles say NGT 2014 was won by an 8 year old. But who cares, she is just AMAZING
@albert stern well I'm only repeating what SHE told . It came out of her own mouth. She.should know. You want to correct someone, correct her. I'm done.
I love your picking up on the more classical vibe of the last section. Rather than an opera reference, I think it's a callback to earlier blues and jazz performers who came from classical or more formal singing backgrounds and were developing the vocabulary of blues singing. You often hear that dichotomy in early recordings. For a 9-yr-old to pay homage to that is absolutely insane. Great reaction! For your next AJ song, I'll recommend her cover of Elvis's Suspicious Minds from last year. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/RTbKhkceR00/v-deo.html
Screamin Jay was actually very influenced by opera, he wanted to become an opera singer in his early years so there is probably elements of this in several of his songs. How on earth Angelina has been able to pick this up is unbelievable, probably grandma Mery knew.
Yes. It's real music. Real band. Real people. It's pretty awesome. Maybe some of these wanna be musicians should be listening n learning. The most talented SINGER, ALBUM, SONG GOES TO - a female who sings!!!!
See what she does now -- Suspicious Minds, 7th Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody, Millions Miles, I Have Nothing, Easy on Me, ... She is 17 as of January 10 2023. She has over 130 covers.
Many people feel that she has the style of Amy Winehouse. You should check out her performance in a recording studio in 2016. She was 10 and sang Back to Black, with an orchestra accompanying her. Unbelievable talent at such an early age! I understand she now lives in California and has signed a recording contract.
Awesome reaction and have some fun, react to "What a Difference a Day Makes" when she was 8, then React to "Suspicious Minds", from 6 months ago when she was 16, God bless!
I'm so glad you love her. I do too. Please react to her at 7 years old, she's now 17, singing Gloomy Monday sung by Billy Holiday in 1941. You'll be amazed. :)
Love your channel guys and congratulations on 5000+ subscribers! AJ is an amazing singer. She is still in her teens and has some fantastic covers and at least one original song. You can't go wrong going down this rabbit hole. Some other talents you may want to look at to boost your subs are Home Free, Nightwish, Aurora, Diana Ankudinova, Floor Jansen and so many more.
Angelina wrote (released) : 1. What is life 2. Oslo 3. Shield 4. Million Miles 5. 7th Heaven for Angelina was written: Song for A by Nico Cartosio, Above the Water by the producer duo TRXD According to Angelina's own statement, she has already written many songs and will appear on her album soon. 🤗
She has almost 200 videos and has covered over 80 artists and has at least 5 originals that are masterfully done as well as a couple of songs that were written expressly for her.
What inspires a 9 yo girl to cover Screamin' J Hawkins, "Put a spell on you"? Little known is Hawkins background as a classically trained opera singer turned to blues and jazz. While having a great voice, Hawkins never quite rose to equal his contemporaries. Hawkins Spell "shock theatrics" changed his fortunes; he went on to perform domestically and internationally. "Spell" is rated as one of 500 songs that changed R & R. AJ paid homage to Hawkins by doing a black and white film representation typical of the era. She is shown holding the lit votive candle then goes on to produce her very strong, emotionally charged arrangement of "Spell". I have never ever seen a (homage) cover presented with that kind of "authenticity" and respect to the original. AJ resurrected Hawkins as she resurrected songs from other 40's, 50's & 60's jazz greats Screaming J has to be smiling down upon AJ. AJ's " Spell " version is EPIC , will stand the test of time, and be rated among the best covers made of the song. AJ should break the Spell "mold" and not repeat that version ... let it stand alone for what it is, forever. We can all look forward to music's future knowing that the bar of excellence is now raised. Thank you AJ for what and who you are. Best regards to all.
Welcome to the vocal singularity known as Angelina.
She is from another world.
I Put a Spell on you
I love this performance so much.
Thank You and Screaming Jay Hawkins was writer and First performer, Pic on candle at the beginning. Love your reactions !!!
Thank you! We Appreciate you!
Please ignore anyone who is mean and disrespectful on the comments. They ARE NOT her Fans. Her “Angels” as she calls them.
Glad you are going down the AJ rabbit hole....this young woman is a genius

Angelina is the Epitome of what is to be a Great Humanitarian and the Rewards of her Divine talent are all directed to others. 🙏❤️🌺
A 9 year old in beastmode ❤️ That is insane and she did that arrangement at 9.. are you kidding me 😳🤔🤔😳
See her magnificent huge live outdoor performance age 8 the year before.
Angelina is the best talent on the planet. You can’t find a bad song, and enjoy the ride.
Great reaction. I am amazed by her talent.
Thank you for your comment and the recommendations!
Nice reaction...you both have now officially entered the AJ "rabbit hole"...WELCOME.
Great choice as another step on the journey . she truly is just sensational! Lovely reaction.
Thank you!
NGT 1 - "GLOOMY SUNDAY" (pre/post performance with English subtitles) - ua-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/v-deo.html
NGT 2 - "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU" (sung entirely acapella), another BillieHoliday inspired song - ua-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/v-deo.html (How does she maintain pitch and tone without any backing track?)
NGT 3 - "BANG BANG" inspired by Nancy Sinatra's rendition - ua-cam.com/video/cSEO3IMVtCI/v-deo.html
NGT 4 - "SUMMERTIME" (spotlights Angelina, pre/post performance, winning NGT, and has English CC) - ua-cam.com/video/zN4kAof1is0/v-deo.html
She's fantastic! Thanks for joining us!
*You have found a diamond in the rough, the needle in the haystack, and gone down the rabbit hole, so, you're in for one hell of a ride.*
*New sub here.*
Thank you for joining us!
Just ignore them and they will float to the bottom :-)
If you see this sweet little girl it is quite impossible to match it with what you hear but it is very easy to love and enjoy. The original is by Screaming Jay Hawkins and was also sung by Bette Midler for Hocus Pocus. Angelina has done many amazing performances and whichever song you chose next, it is hard to go wrong :-)
Keep it up!
Thanks for supporting us and Angelina!
Great job! No doubt you’ll get lots of suggestions. Enjoy the journey.
Thank you!
Congrats, you just discovered the most astonishing voice of the century...!
Fierce Masterpiece! Fearless, timeless and ageless. Wonderful ❣️
Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina.
Let’s analyze the video:
1st you see how small and cute she is.
2nd you see she is barefoot (story below)
3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song.
Angelina is the Epitome of what is to be a Great Humanitarian and the Rewards of her Divine talent are all directed to others. 🙏❤️🌺
Angelina is just turned 9 in this recording. The most beautiful person on this planet.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better.
That's high praise for a 12 yo coming from someone who knows
jimmy What Quincy said about Angelina: "She is the greatest talent he's seen since MJ."
Great reactions, guys.
you mentioned opera vibe.. an opera singer who reacted to this said after the ending that angelina could EASILY sing classical music...thanks guys...
… There are many good singers... but Angelina is the "Diamond" ✨💎✨ among them !!! … Thank you
Last December I was scrolling thru youtube videos and came across AJ singing this classic.
Angelina has been doing her own arrangements since she was 8 including this one
Ella es increible...
Evan if u heard her before, & know she's amazing this is the one that blows your mind but still don't over look the band .
This is the Best video i ever seen. Perfect!
Screamin' Jay Hawkins would definitely approve of this cover of his classic song.
Great reaction!🎼👍🏼🤗
Thank you!! 😁
9 years 2 months old! She is a Killer! 😎🇺🇲👍🌟💯
Love the piano and the saxophone. tat's it.
She truly is amazing. Keep watching her from a fan.
Great reaction guys thx. Now if you want to hear Angelina really go off on a song when she is a couple of years older check out her 2017 Proysenfestivalen where she performs the song Loving You at 11 years of age. Enjoy.
Good job. AJ was nine years old. This is HER arrangement of a Screaming Jay Hawkins song.
she good back to Norway days a t 7 years old when she won
Thank you!
Love the stank faces and dear caught in the headlights looks
Thank you for your reaction to the Princess, she is the best
Fun FUN reaction 😁 I Always enjoy seeing 1st reactions to this particular, and very popular, video... The synchronized raising of your eyebrows was so entertaining... Because it reflected how amazed you were with the voice you were hearing...this will alway be the case..as hers is ONE OF A KIND!🙃🙃 Can't wait to hear your next one, great job!! PEACE!
Thx so much! We appreciate you!
Angelina Jordan is a child prodigy she rented all her own music. She speaks three languages English or third language of Norway nine years and two months old when she did this song by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins ice cream and Jay Hawkins 1956.
Great reaction guys. Angelina is awesome, special and an incredible find.
Thank you
Screamin' Jay Hawkins wrote this as a typical song of the genre but everyone was a bit tipsy during the original recording and they got a bit carried away producing what some have called the original (or at least very early) shock rock performance.
A 9-year-old Angelina Jordan such potential initially shocked me.
Thank you! And thank you for your suggestions!
Watch her at 7..She won Norways Got Talent..She gives you Jaz
Screamin Jay Hawkins, 1956.
Those musicians refer to her as the boss, after all it was her arrangement and she was keeping track.
I just subscribed or more Angelina! Any song she sings is ok by me, but try her singing STAY at age 12, or My Funny Valentine from last February and only age 16 and one month old. The most sultry and best rendition of that old jazz standard ever!
Thx for joining us!
Sorry Bella, she went on at 7 but won at 8. A very minor correction.
Nice comment though and thank you.
I'm done.
@@bella-xp7qd Not correcting, just FYI. We can stop now
AJ ❤ Awesomeness ❤❤❤
We love Angelina Jordan, your child prodigy you got about 150 more songs that go through and she had them songs is off constantly❤
Love the journey.
Smokin'
View/ react to Angelina Jordan jamming with her band with Portrait of a Child, pure amazement
😀😀😀😀😀
Thanks guys for your reaction and the good words for our princess! 🇧🇻
She is one of the best singers an old soul
She also wanted the filming in B&W to fit the mood. She guided the musicians on how she wanted the arrangement to play out.
She is nine years old her..💟
Anjelina is on loan from Heaven!.
Loved your reaction❤
Many people feel that she has the style of Amy Winehouse. You should check out her performance in a recording studio in 2016. She was 10 and sang Back to Black, with an orchestra accompanying her. Unbelievable talent at such an early age! I understand she now lives in California and has signed a recording contract.
Awesome reaction and have some fun, react to "What a Difference a Day Makes" when she was 8, then React to "Suspicious Minds", from 6 months ago when she was 16, God bless!
Thanks so much!
9 yr old R& B SINGER ,CRAZY
Didn't know if you realized 8. Angelina set up this performance. In the beginning she hands notes to the leader. She was leading the band.
Awesome choice
Check out Angelina Jordan singing I'm feeling good
10 years old
I'm so glad you love her. I do too. Please react to her at 7 years old, she's now 17, singing Gloomy Monday sung by Billy Holiday in 1941. You'll be amazed. :)
Great reaction, keep up the great work
Thank you! Will do!
Angelina wrote (released) :
1. What is life
2. Oslo
3. Shield
4. Million Miles
5. 7th Heaven
for Angelina was written:
Song for A by Nico Cartosio,
Above the Water by the producer duo TRXD
According to Angelina's own statement, she has already written many songs and will appear on her album soon. 🤗
She has almost 200 videos and has covered over 80 artists and has at least 5 originals that are masterfully done as well as a couple of songs that were written expressly for her.
Thank you Mike! Appreciate the love and will keep those talents in mind for the ever-growing list!
😀great review
Thank you 😁
goosebumps every time.
I like your reactions I hope you do more Angelina Jordan reactions check out her Norways got talent videos
Thx!
