I have the SBGA283 which is the champagne dial version of this. The only thing Rolex has over this is the name and bracelet. That said, the bracelet is not bad and Rolex cannot touch the movement or finish.
yep. i prefer this series specifically because the bracelet is more neutral and less gaudy. i don't really like the polished vertical lines on the inner links on most of the other models. as for the name -- people this side of the earth don't apologize for it.
Sorry no. I love GS but Rolex is miles ahead in movement design and architecture as well as the bracelet ergonomics of the watch. BUT it also costs 2 X the GS in most cases and generally not available. The spring drive is an innovative and unique movement to Seiko but it is NOT a purely mechanical watch and the accuracy is managed through a Quartz oscilator making it more quartz than mechanical. Thats not a bad thing as the accuracy trumps most mechanical watches. Just saying its different.
@@kaiserphoenix01 Wrong. The Grand Seiko movements are better finished and hand assembled. Rolex are not. Ergonomics are subjective. Also, it's a quartz regulated oscillator. It's a more unique and accurate movement. I've had Rolex and Omega. I prefer Grand Seiko.
Just wanted to say that- I bought this watch after watching this review. Went on a secondary site and got an amazing deal on it due to the yen being so down. Thanks for the review- I can't believe there aren't more. Anyone who is looking for a Rolex OP- I can tell you this is a better watch. Purchased this one, turned down the Rolex and I'm so happy I did.
*Because of r4cism, it doesn't matter what they do; they can't stop the rise of the global south. After Seiko swept the observatory trials in 1967, the Swiss banned non-European brands from entering. Seiko never gave up. Seiko formed their own chronometer standards, which are better than COSC-certified. Their higher-end models are more accurate than their Swiss counterparts, at a lower price point.*
I don’t agree with your statement about not having lume. The watch which this is compared to is the datejust and that has lume. Pilot, chronographs, and field watches have lume. Not only divers have lume or the need for lume, right?
The case shape is different, the indexes have a different shape and the bracelet is different as well. But they are very similar at first glance, they are easy to confuse. Hope this helps :)
@@diabloonline3893 thanks, but neither Haval nor Tudor have nothing to do with stars or anything nice above. they can rather be compared with something disgusting under the feet, or more likely under the anus

no 283 is 39mm while the one in review is 40mm.. black version of your watch is actually SBGA285
@@expertreviews1112 right mine has been discontinued. Sorry I wasn't exact about the nomenclature, man.

A very fine watch with a innovative high tec movement. For me, it's the best automatic movement in the world of watches.
This is now my 2nd GS. Thanks for helping me pull the trigger. 😎👍🏼

Black dial is the best choice ! Spring Drive is gorgeous
Thx for posting! Why arent there more vids from others? I guess this isnt a hype watch.

fantastic review!
why no micro-adjustments and no smaller sizes....
What's your wrist size?

The GS hands are so polished you can see the hands in the dark. You dont really need it.

What's the difference between this and sbga203 they look EXACTLY the same

The real alternative for Rlolex, and feels even more rich!
This is the perfect GADA watch.
Minus lume
Doesnt need it. Trust me.
This watch is 6k in Vegas store!
I see it online for $3k …Vegas is a scam.
I'm torn between this one and SBGA301 JDM.
Why make a name so industrial-sounding "this is my SBGA467", grand seiko put me off buying it just for that alone.
Grand Seiko is not a watchmaker. Seiko is.
A lot of ssss ssss sounds in the mic
Literally unbareable
Seiko “could rival the likes of Omega, Rolex AND TUDOR”?)))) it’s like “Lexus could rival the likes of BMW, Mercedes and Haval”)))
Have you driven a Lexus? Have you ever worn a Grand Seiko? Certainly not, because otherwise you would not write something like this!

Pretty much everything said about Lume was wrong
Agreed, but I'll say that because the indices are so polished/shiny, you only need a tiny bit of light to tell the time on GS dials
Disagree. If you need light, go buy a casio
