That broke me when I was a kid! But yes I came up around the 99/00 during the last run of the Attitude era going straight into the ruthless aggression era so many greats Eddie Benoit edge cena Kurt Brock hbk returning evolution taking over man it was a good time for wrestling for me
wwe in 2005 was the most phenomenal year. the rise of cena and batista, the deep storyline of rey eddie and dominik, as well as eddie's unexpected demise, even the rivalry of orton and taker.
Easy to tell who didn't grow up in the 80s and 90s, definitely better years in those decades...but I guess its subjective like SNL, everyone always thinks the cast that was there in there teens was the best, I was just lucky there too cause I had sandler farley and myers and Ferrell amd the likes
@@0fficialcj249 I disagree. The ECW relaunch was a fail. DX then wasn't like the DX of the Attitude Era. Vince was shoving Cena down fan's throats. Rey was booked horribly as a champion.
@@edgeisthegoat Disagree about the DX vs McMahon stuff. It was mostly cringe. I felt about seeing Shawn and HHH act like they did in 1997 then. How I feel about Cena acting like its 10 years ago. The midcard wasn't great in 2006. They had good wrestlers, but most wasn't actually involved in anything. Mark Henry's best run would come later.
Going back to watch RAWs from 2005 and 2006, it’s shocking how fast fans turned against Cena. It didn’t help that Cena basically held the WWE title for 2 years, from April 2005 - January 2006, January 2006 - June 2006, and September 2006 - September 2007. WWE really crammed him down our throats.
Plus the people that we wanted to win the title = Jericho , hbk , Kurt angle , Christian , Cena beats all of of them lol you can clearly tell by cenas booking he was being protected hard!
This has to be WWE’s most complete year from start to finish. Everything about this year smacked cheeks. Cena and Batista’s rise, Shawn vs Kurt, The OG SmackDown vs Raw Survivor Series fued, Orton and Taker, Rey vs Eddie, Edge and Matt Hardy. The production, the formatting, every show felt like a can’t miss, and every show today is still a must watch.
2005 gave us the birth of two of WWE's modern megastars in Batista and John Cena. It was also the time we fans mourned the passing of the late great Eddie Guerrero.
One of the most heartbreaking moments in wrestling. I had just got back into watching WWE a few weeks earlier just for this to happen. Not to mention Eddie was supposed to win the Championship.
*This was a pretty good year for the WWE* - John Cena and Batista as the top world champions - Batista vs Triple H feud - WrestleMania 21 was great - Edge vs Matt Hardy feud - WWE SVR 2006 was released - ECW One Night Stand was a success
2005 was the HEIGHT of the Ruthless Aggression Era in my opinion. Just like 2000 was the height of the Attitude Era. John Cena became the new face of the company, Batista ended Triple H’s 3-year Reign Of Terror, Undertaker and Randy Orton had their amazing Legend vs Legend Killer feud, Edge became the first Mr Money in the Bank, ECW was brought back, Eddie and Rey had their infamous feud over Dominik, and of course the Matt Hardy/Edge/Lita love triangle which was a real issue turned into a storyline. The only bad thing from that year was Eddie Guerrero’s unfortunate death.
@You're under 19 don't argue I’m 21. And you’re wrong dude. Say what you want about him, Cena was the face of the company for a decade and half whether you like it or not. Batista definitely could’ve been, but at the end of the day, Vince chose John. And plus, when WWE eventually turned PG, John adapted to it and was able to continue being the top guy and become the top merch seller since Stone Cold. Batista made it clear over the years that he hates how PG WWE became so even if Vince did chose him to be his next top guy he wouldn’t have stayed long. He would’ve left WWE high and dry just like Brock did.
@You're under 19 don't argue I never said I watched WWE at the time. I first watched it in 2007. I came late to the party. Cena did not kill wrestling dude. If he did why is WWE still going? How is AEW here? You’re just being bitter. Let it go.
@You're under 19 don't argue I’m not saying it’s as good as the 2000s because wrestling won’t be that good again because of today’s sensitive @ss society. What I’m saying is that wrestling is still going. It may not be as insane as it used to be, but you can’t blame Cena for that just because of your dislike towards him.
2005 was a good year. Only major issue was the push of the not-yet-ready John Cena. While he would end up becoming a legitimate wrestler and worth of the main event tier by the end of the decade, the damage was done with the hasty push. It's why fans quickly turned on Roman; most of us had already seen a similar rushed push in Cena. It also proved that Vince could never get over the fact he lost Hogan, even when he had Hogan back. The two things that stand out for me for this year, besides the infamous botched Rumble ending (if Vince wasn't a stubborn man even then, he should've rolled with it) were the Streak and Eddie. The Streak, IMO, should've ended that night. The nuclear levels of heat Orton would've gotten on RAW the next night (Yes, Orton jumps to RAW for one night to gloat), solidifying his status as the Legend Killer. We know why he didn't, out of respect for Taker, and we wouldn't have obtained the tetralogy (it is a word, Google it) between him and DX. God the boos he would've been getting. Doubt he'd getting. As for Eddie, I've only three words for how much I miss him: *¡Viva la raza!*
Nah he wasn't hastily pushed, it was him changing from dr of thuganmics to the superhero like character that made adult males who were used to the attitudes era can do anything style not like his character as much. Overall it didn't matter tho bc the kids loved him and there were more kids watching the product at the time that adult males that's why cena remains so popular. Those kids have grown up and are still fans
I don't think it's that he wasn't ready, he was just moved to the flagship show too early and was steamrolling through so much of the top talent (including some talent from the Attitude era) that fans (mostly the older ones) started to getting tired of his Superman booking and turned on him. I think it would have been more beneficial if Cena and Batista stayed on their respective shows for at least another year before trading shows. Smackdown was always Cena's home, and I think the fan backlash would not have been as bad (or not happened) if he stayed on Smackdown for all of 2005.
@@obsessivefanboy7 He was ready to move to RAW. The problem was him always winning. Plus he kept the title too long. I said back then that if he didn't lose the belt by Unforgiven that the crowd would turn on him. Happened with Hogan in 91 and Shawn in 96.
You could say the same thing you said about Cena for Orton beating Taker. He wasn't ready yet, and seeing someone who hasn't had 4 years on the main roster to their name beat Taker probably wouldn't have been good in the end, especially if we take into account Orton's behavioral issues he was dealing with at the time
@@kevinlee9929 yeah he should've lost the title to Kurt. He didn't even have to lose clean as long as he lost. Looking back now I wish Eric did award Kurt the WWE title and brought back the undisputed title design. That belt I feel was the last good looking world title belt they made.

Vince didn't blow out both quads in the ring. HHH said in an interview he only blew one and the other was backstage while vince was trying to walk off and no-sell the injured knee. HHH said he was right next to him and it sounded like a gunshot when it blew out.
2005 was definitely one of my favourite years in wrestling. The draft, Batista and Cena being the face of Smackdown and RAW, and much more. It gives me a lot of nostalgia.
@@edgeisthegoat In those years it was crystal clear that RAW had the better roster. 2005 was 1 of the rare times that the roster felt balanced. Batista, Orton, Taker, JBL, Booker T, Benoit, Eddie, Rey, Muhammad Hassan, Christian. SD! didn't get the "Shaft" lol

I'm looking forward to your videos on 2008 and the years after, this is when I stopped watching WWE as a kid and I'm wanting to know what has happened since then.
Batista Won Royal Rumble.. Pwi Rank No 1 .. Batista 🙌
2005 is one of my all time favorite years in wwe Sadly Eddie Guerrero Passed That Same Year R.I.P Latino Heat
Best year of my childhood alot happen this year
Wrestling sort of just went downhill after 2001. It was like up and down...all the way up until now. Some stuff was good and some stuff was bad.
My most favorite era of all my school time era ( Known as attitude era in WWE)
My cousin Tweety gave birth to her 3rd child Amarion Franklin Stevens on October 7, 2005 was Friday before the Weekend.
Yoooo 2005 really was a fun year!!😁
Can’t believe my childhood is just in the past like that lol
I remember being so in awe and curious when my cousin showed me SvR2007
Also how I stumbled across Smackdown by just switching through channels on the tv and then coming across it.
She should pay me for throwing the game away! Right?
I don't wanna hurt anyone! But honestly, I was really pissed at that time! She had no right to throw the game away! Right?
Vince didn't blow out both quads in the ring. HHH said in an interview he only blew one and the other was backstage while vince was trying to walk off and no-sell the injured knee. HHH said he was right next to him and it sounded like a gunshot when it blew out.
2005 was definitely one of my favourite years in wrestling. The draft, Batista and Cena being the face of Smackdown and RAW, and much more. It gives me a lot of nostalgia.
The 1 time when it felt like SD! didn't get ripped off in the Draft lol
@@kevinlee9929 what u mean 2009 and 2008 smackdown got good picks
Hhh jeff umaga 2009 punk rey kane
@@edgeisthegoat In those years it was crystal clear that RAW had the better roster. 2005 was 1 of the rare times that the roster felt balanced. Batista, Orton, Taker, JBL, Booker T, Benoit, Eddie, Rey, Muhammad Hassan, Christian. SD! didn't get the "Shaft" lol
@@kevinlee9929 2009
They freak had jeff rey jechrio all in they prime
2008 had jeff taker edge hhh
@@edgeisthegoat
2009 RAW had Cena, Batista, Orton, HBK, HHH, Big Show, Kennedy, MVP
2008 Cena, Orton, Batista, HBK, Punk, Kane, JBL, Jericho
This all being at a time when it was evident that Cena and Orton were the 2 guys who would be "The Man". No different how WWE has Roman on SD! Cause that's the A Show.
2005-2015 golden years of my life
Mohammad Hassan deserved more imo, i thought they even had a world championship run in mind for him. Shame it never happened.
Eddie guerrero was the best thing ever in history. His 2005
Heel turn means alot, still to this day. It changef everything. Even today that storyline made dirty dom
2005 was a really good year not just for WWE but wrestling as a whole in my opinion.
WWE had no competition that year.
@@jp3813 I'm talking about the other companies that were doing good in that year like TNA, ROH etc
I was 24 and married. Lol
Great video! Just a note that Triple H didn't retain at New Year's Revolution. He won the title. The title was vacant.
Raw: Very Good
Smackdown!: Ok
Great video
