This is a perfect comment. Great summary of what made this game so good/new games are lacking. It really was much simpler than these live service games which are desperately trying to squeeze money and engagement from players.
As much as I loved and played this game, I still think I took it for granted. Seeing all of them come back in a time when gaming is super stale just brings joy to my heart.
FFA was a lot more because it felt like there were options to move around and be more agressive. Besides there not being ridiculous SBMM, the simplicity of the mechanics also made it less sweaty imo and still very accessible to new players.
Great call on the simplicity of game mechanics. All the movement, abilities and metas of current games makes them such a sweat because there's so much you should be optimising to remain somewhat competitive.
Holy heck, I never would have thought that Handler would be afraid of one-man army noob toobs... still getting a nuke after something like that is still bad-ass. Good one Handler
Maybe it's a combination of the opinion of the maps, the weird spawns, the viability of camping and probably the assumption that people are gonna camp hard kept people away from FFA heavy in the newer CODs. In don't necessarily hold the same opinion, but I think that may be it idk tho.

Where the Chopper Gunner fails, the AC130 will surely succeed!! Also people tend to love their corners in recent CoD games. Most FFA matches are people lane watching or corner camping with mines and shotguns
Regarding the comment about FFA at 1:12, I also feel that way. I used to EXCLUSIVELY play FFA but I found myself not being able to play many matches anymore. It's interesting, because in cod I have really fallen off of it; meanwhile in redmatch 2, a game that only uses server browsers, FFA modes are an absolute blast.
It’s a combination of things. Respawn in the newer CoD’s (post-CoD WWII) have been straight trash. It’s basically S&D or nothing. I used to play S&D and FFA only back in Black Ops 1. Attack Helicopter, Blackbird and Dogs/Gunship was an _EASY_ dub.

As someone who used to get nukes pretty consistently on this game, I find it MUCH harder to get a nuke right now. Most people playing the game are also mw2 veterans so they all start either shooting down killstreaks instantly or start spending the entire game trying to kill you and end your streak and also you have the teams that all run cold blooded so your killstreaks do nothing for you. You pretty much just hope you get the perfect lobby where nothing goes wrong if you want a nuke right now.
