    All these foamers mad about E-Bells sounding bad when it's just a looped recording of an actual mechanical bell...

    • @Tiredoldchannel
      @Tiredoldchannel 3 роки тому

      Is it known what kind it was recorded from?

    • @a-lineaficionado1000

      Not looped from a mechanical bell. It’s a recording that was made from scratch but still sounds very good.

      I doubt it. I have both a mechanical Graham White and an e-bell, and they sound pretty much alike.

      I was lucky to get mine from a locomotive scrap yard / recycling yard from a guy I knew there. Most people don’t have this option tho, so always keep a lookout on Ebay or try looking at locomotive forms, train horn and bell forms and you could even try Facebook market place or craigslist if you wanted. I was in your position a while ago and really wanted to know where these people found them! So never give up, and always be determined to be on the lookout and soon enough you should have good luck finding one!

    So I'm gonna buy one to put on my truck, how do I wire it? Can I just direct wire it too the battery with a switch? And is this AC or DC powered?

    • @gregorygrice
      @gregorygrice  9 років тому

      Idk if if it's AC or DC powered (I'll have to check) but if you literally buy a two prong female cable and strip the rubber a bit, it works just fine. If the voltage is too low the Bell will make a stuttering noise.

    • @NSBigBlue
      @NSBigBlue 9 років тому

      gregorygrice so if i strip the end of it, i can direct wire to my truck and im done?

    • @gregorygrice
      @gregorygrice  9 років тому

      +Kyle Best I would leave the female end alone and strip the outlet end if youre trying to direct wire it. I have mine set so I just plug it into the cigarette lighter like charging a phone.

    • @NSBigBlue
      @NSBigBlue 9 років тому

      gregorygrice well thats what i meant, can u send me a photo of your cord u use for the car?

    • @gregorygrice
      @gregorygrice  9 років тому

      Kyle Best I use the same cord thats in the video. All you do is buy an inverter that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter. Then just plug it in like you would do a normal outlet and it will ring. Unplug it when you want it to stop. You can also buy a switch so that you can keep it plugged in.

      Except for then they, you know, *stop working due to the cold or moisture in the airline* . Brass bells are appropriate for museums, not active locomotives.

    • @gregorygrice
      @gregorygrice  9 років тому

      As far as I know, no. When it receives too low of a power source it makes a different sound to let you know.

      @@aubergm3p583 These E Bells run on DC. Using straight AC from a wall outlet will eventually fry the electrical components in the bell. For this reason, it is recommended that one invests in an AC to DC converter if they get one of these E Bells.
