I love aldi. It’s just my husband and I now. I spend about $300 a month on food, cleaning and household supplies for both of us. I eat keto, and I eat a lot of meat and right now very low carbs, like around 15 or below. My husband eats “regular “. We try to only eat out once a week, but we are going to try to do your other channel’s January no eat out month challenge! 💖👍👊 I make many things from scratch including most meals, cleaning, laundry and soap. We go shopping once a month, first to aldi and then go to Walmart and a my local Kroger’s for what aldi doesn’t have, and to Costco. I make another run to get fresh fruits and veggies mid month. I haven’t had anything from aldi that is not excellent. My husband LOVES the bbq chips, I eat keto so I can’t comment but he’s picky. Aldi most definitely has the best prices hands down AND quality. I raised my boys on aldi, they are big guys and grown up now and on their own, but we would have never made it without aldi’s good cheap prices when they were teens! I don’t go to Trader Joe’s. You do know that aldi and Trader Joe’s is owned by same German family?

I love Aldi...the coconut 🥥 cookies are delicious. Gia, their brands aren’t knock offs, it’s called private label. Lol

I second that. Many of the "store brand" items that we've bought are exactly the same as the name brand; I would bet money the cereals are private labeled. Some Aldi brand items I just prefer. The soda waters are the best deal and are better.

Try Kombucha! Its like a tangy soda. Also, the taste of fruit is all dependent on the season. Strawberries have 2 natural growing seasons throughout America. Other times of the year they wont taste fresh or sweet. Also fruit coming from Mexico and other countries can (not always) lack flavor because of how early they are picked and how long it takes to ship to you

Aldi is so great price-wise, I can literally fill my cart with cans there and pay under $100. At Walmart that would easily cost me twice that price or at least 1.5 times. I forgot to tell you that their canned vegetables and beans are great as well, so is the frozen hamburger meat that comes in the little tubes (almost like a Jimmy Dean sausage tube). So cheap but so good. OH also the spices!!! Girl have you seen the spice rack?? And the baking aisle??? I am now realizing I've tried everything in the store at least one time lol. I do love it though. The only reason I don't go there more often is that they don't carry everything I need like Walmart does, and I don't like making multiple stops.

I love ALDI. I love about 3 minutes from one. Your ALDI is to be admired! I’ve never seen that much good stuff in there. I like ALDI shredded cheese and sliced Fit cheese. I love finding gifts especially good candles. I buy the Italian sausage - it’s half the price of grocery stores. I buy the tube yogurt for my son. Bacon is usually cheaper. The O’Donnells knock off to Baileys is delish and more potent. The Fritos are good and tortilla chips. I buy canned goods, pancakes, waffles. I buy the spray butter and seasonings. I buy the many things here! I try to do $100/week - family of 3. I’d be interested to try $300.

Lidl copied the Aldi concept and is a competitor. ALDI and Trader Joe’s were founded by the Albrecht brothers. In Europe, they are Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd depending on which country you’re in. They operate as separate companies. The US is the only place with both: Trader Joe’s is owned by Aldi Nord.

Aldi had the lowest price on Kerry Gold Butter and recently they have their own brand of Irish Butter and so many say it's made by Kerry Gold. I swear they taste exactly the same. Best butter ever! Love the thin mint cookies and the vanilla coffee creamer. It has real milk and cream in the ingredients. The Who Needs the Bagel seasoning is so good. It's only $1.99 and it's in the seasoning aisle. I put it on eggs, veggies, sandwiches, and with cream cheese on a bagel. Aldi has great bagels too only $1.99 for six good size bagels.

Kombucha reminds you of a very strong soda. I love it; gives an energy boost and most brands of it provide a high number of probiotics. That was a good price for Health-Aide; it’s normally $3.99 per bottle. The cream is great too at Aldi; quality wise it’s comparable to any other brand IMO; Target used to have a great price on their Market Pantry kind but they raised the price (even before they changed to good and gather). I like the idea of $100 pp for groceries and no eating out challenge. I am definitely up for the challenge for our family. Between eating out because we’ve been out all day, and eating out because I have yet to go grocery shopping and having a brunch date with my sis or date night with my fiancé and the eating out every Friday because it’s my “no cook day” it has turned into more days of eating out than in. The shame of it all is that I looooveeee to cook 😩😏. Gota do better; this is a good plan/place to start.

Ok yes the soups are awesome, the chips are awesome, my husband is a bbq chip snob and LOVED the Aldi version. I only get the produce if I'm going to use it the same day or next day though, it's all subject to expire pretty soon after you buy it. The frozen pizzas are good and so are the fresh ones. Cheese sticks are good, and most of the frozen food you find there (prepared meals etc) is good, especially the desserts.

I've not tried their whipping cream but i do know that some off-brands of 1/2 & 1/2 tend to be more watery than others. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the whipping cream. I roll up our living room throw blankets and store them in those canvas laundry baskets. perfect storage and helps keep them from being all over the room - and no one can trip in them hanging off the edge of the sofa. ;-)

The only thing I'm not crazy about at Aldi is their ranch. I prefer Walmart brand but everything else is tasty, in my house anyway.

I love Aldi, too! Ours has really good produce both in prices and flavor. Occasionally it will go bad quickly, but not very often. Also, I love the cream and other dairy products, I hope yours were good! And then the Aldi random aisle, it’s the best!
We budget $400/month for our family of 4 (we also have a baby but he doesn’t eat much solid food yet). We shop mostly at Aldi but get our meat at Wegmans because their prices are better and we can get the huge family packs.

I haven't shopped at Aldi in awhile because of how much I love their snacks. I can't resist buying the german chocolate and I would always end up spending half my grocery budget on cookies and snacks rather than actual food. Those girl scout cookies? I've tried their version of tagalongs and samoas and I like them both better than girl scout cookies at a 1/3 of the price and available all year around (I still definitely support my local troop and give them money every year though). I like their breakfast bars except for the Elevation ones. Their knock off Nutri-grain bars and knock off Nature Valley Sweet and Salty cashew bars are pretty decent and very inexpensive (I can taste a difference, but it's not enough for me to care most of the time considering the price difference). I would have gone ahead and bought the heavy cream - I like Aldi yogurt well enough and it's the same brand that does the yogurt. I can be kinda picky about their dairy stuff (I don't like Aldi cheese, mostly). Produce for me is hit and miss - A lot of times I think their produce tastes better but imo their produce doesn't last. I don't buy produce there I can't eat in 2-3 days. I still find the best deals here for that at the roadside stands/farmers markets. Tastes excellent and tends to actually last.
Also, if you love and go through a decent amount of jasmine rice? Go buy it at an Asian grocery store. You'll have to buy 10-20 pounds of it, but you're never going to get a good price for rice at a regular grocery store.
I've realized now looking at how much other people pay for food that the $50 a week I normally do might be too much. So these days I'm trying to get down to $30 a week. Been doing good the last few weeks but looking at my shelves this week looks like I definitely need to do a pantry restock so I am probably going to go over that this next time. Got lucky and didn't have to go at all this week. Being a single girl who goes over to Dad's for thanksgiving has its perks!

I like shopping at Aldi much more than I used to, but I haven’t been able to completely cut Walmart. Their selection is still better for the other items I buy, but I like buying all my outer isle stuff (sprouted bread, produce, dairy, I like Aldis Never Any brand, etc) from Aldi. I also struggle with not filling my kitchen with a ton of snacks and junk food, so that money still goes out the door with my snack-attack husband and child 😏

I have to agree with your mom, I've never gotten good produce from Walmart. I've never tried Aldi, so I can't speak to them. Depending on what I need, I either buy from roadside stands or go to Publix. There is a good Farmer's Market nearby, but the prices are a bit high for my tastes.

I’ve been to Aldo once. It reminded me of an OLD military commissary. The selection was so-so, the store was cramped, and a warning sign about shopping baskets and bags would have been nice. Granted, I’m basing my comments on the one location in the area. As for your girls eating you out of home, they all go through that. I seemed to be at the supermarket every other day when my daughter went through that stage. I can’t figure out how we survived. And we have one child. People with more than one child must feel like they are on the verge of bankruptcy.
