I remember my orchestra teacher telling me this when I was in 7th grade! this was one hard piece to learn. Esther good work, very talented and pleasing for the ears. I listen to it every time I listen to musics.
I'm learning a Spanish classical dance to this, and it's so hard but beautiful! My teacher won't give us a CD yet, but I can practice to this, lol. BEAUTIFUL, THANK YOU!
I have listened to Zapateado by Yitz Pearlman, Hadelich, etc.. all very excellent violinists - but Ms. Kim's rendition both this year and later on are the best I've heard. Her special brand of youthful energy and passion and her obvious joy in playing this song are what makes it so great to me! Bravo Esther!
I've seen so many older and younger people play this, but I've never seen someone play this so amazingly. I think part of it is because everyone is always so freaky out about playing or serious. She's just happy with it. This is how all music should be played.
Bravo to her violin teacher- definitely made a significant contribution to her success. And of course, bravo to this violinist! I know exactly what it takes to play a piece like this- wonder if she's now involved in violin as a career because she had the chops to do so 5 years ago when this tape was made!
Congratulations, Esther on such an awesome performance! You are a very talented young lady. You play so beautifully and expressively. I especially liked how you smiled during your performance! Best wishes on all of your future performances!
Asherel - Isn't that the most beautiful thing about this piece? Of course, technically, it is extremely difficult and complex. But the fact that she seems to be just having a blast playing the violin, is the most beautiful thing to me... My guess is, she is so great BECAUSE of her obvious passion for playing!
back to the point,I noticed that at the end of this video, when Esther is presenting her accompanist, she turns right to point the accompanits,so the accompanist was on the right side of the stage, so I realized that all this time,it's been the accompanist that she looked at,not the camera, yet,I am not surprised at all if her parents tought her to look at the camera and smile!
she just looks so absolutley comfterble playing it! she makes it fun to listen to and watch.... i admire that so much.... when im preforming i always for some reason cut DOWN the emotion.
@rebellionVII thats the easy answer, the more intersting one is because their language is a tonal language. as in one sound or word means something different depending on how high or low your pitch is. making them hit the perfect note (or pitch) in their language, it gives them a head start.
Dear Esther; If you are planning to go tu Spain and you don't have the visa don't worry, you go with your violin and play like that, and you will be welcome by the Queen and the King!!! Your interpretation and sound are fantastic!!

this recording is much more "real" than her more recent and more professional one. i think you're just being presumptuous.
