Project Zomboid | Guide for Complete Beginners | Episode 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2024
- This series features a complete beginner's guide to Project Zomboid, the zombie, crafting, survival sensation. Project Zomboid has a very punishing difficulty curve and with this guide I intend to help you start a new character, build a new world, start in a good location, explain the basics of controls, the UI, and give tips for surviving the early days in the game. I am not min/maxing here and doing my best to not spoil the game. I simply want to help new players get into the game and have a grasp of the fundamentals so they can survive, and also show people some gameplay if they were thinking of buying the game. As I am starting a new character, you can play along to learn the ropes :)
Come learn the basics of Project Zomboid!

I spawned into a house with 6 zombies with birthday hats on.. they ate me instantly :D. So not all spawns are safe!
You were birthday cake
I just had that happen to me :D
Same, it was exactly my second spawn in my whole experience. Traumatised me
@@Travis_DeGee🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I got the raven city mod and started on the roof of a building with zombies smashing through the window to the roof. They were everywhere. Dodged until I could dodge no more.
I am new to the game and watched like 20 beginner guides, tips videos and they are all great and nice, but THIS is by far the one that actually helped me understand the most of the game, thanks so much for making this one. I know content creators like to make "short" videos because it works better for youtube ad revenue or something, so thanks a lot for actually doing instead this longer detailed guide that really really helps beginners.
Oh, fantastic! Thank you so much for the super thanks! ^_^ I am so glad this has been helpful! Haha, yeah, I am long-winded, so I can't do short content very well so I just try to explain as much as possible as I play to make things clear :) This is such a fun game! I hope the zombies are playing nice as you enjoy the game haha ;)
Same here bro
Excited to watch this now
I was literally going to comment the same thing more or less haha
I'm in the exact same position right now, I played 2-3 runs by myself but am struggling pretty hard so looking forwards to watching this and getting better! :)
does anyone else have over 1000 hours in-game yet still find themselves watching every beginners guide that pops up?
Haha, it's such a good game with so much to learn--I watch guides too haha
@@DrIncompetentwho do you watch ?
Of course I know him, he's me....
I rage quit and give up this game after 30 minutes playing. Now this video really helps me restarting. Many thanks
Oh great! I'm so glad you are finding it helpful. I have rage quit many times as well, haha. I die a lot, as you can see haha
You're obviously a teacher, and a very good one at that. So thorough and concise, but also comfortably laid back. Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words :) I am so glad you have found this to be helpful! This is such a great game, but there's a lot to learn haha ;) Enjoy the game!
@@DrIncompetent Thank you, I will do my best! The learning curve is steep, but I sense here it's worth the effort.
Im glad that you emphasized the pause button. In early game it can be such an information overload and items have so many stats that just taking a second to read through more in depth can really help an early player.
Yes! I still pause all the time--looking at the map, looking through my stuff etc. So often I think I'm safe and a Z just pops out and bites me! haha ;)
YES! This is exactly what I was looking for. Step by step, nothing to small to explain! From the looks of it, I'm going to be around this playlist for a while!
I am so glad you are finding this to be helpful and I hope you are enjoying Project Zomboid! It's fun if brutal haha ;)
BRO I followed your entire Factorio guide and got through that entire game with it, good to see you here as well.
Haha, awesome! Thanks so much for watching! I hope you enjoy this series as well!
@@DrIncompetentWould you consider re-doing this guide for 2024? That would be awesome. ^~^
Tip on world creation, the world he has created in custom rules is based on the more difficult Apocalypse ruleset, if you want a more survivable ruleset, the bottom middle bar of the screen has a box, click it and choose "Survival/Survivor" for an easier selection of default settings.
This doesn't require any other changes to settings that YOU need to do, but it allows you the minimap, multi-hit, and a few leverages on your life that won't make you frustrated, because Apocalypse rules are meant for shorter lifespans, Survivor rules are for longer lives.
This is a very good point! I was mistaken and thought the default rules that weren't changed by custom would default to survivor, as that is the default play mode in my mind, but you need to change that, as explained above from apocalypse to survivor to make your experience easier!
You have no idea how much I appreciate this video. I just bought this game with the steam spring sale and I was kinda overwhelmed but you broke it down Barney style for me! Keep it up! Thanks
Haha, awesome! I am so glad you are finding this useful and are enjoying the game! It is so much fun--even though I die all the time haha
dude, i like you already. i was so intrigued off a youtube video of this game, that i figured i might want to buy and check it out. im looking forward to finishing your series because you're super to the point and fragile with explanation, it's so easy to listen and understand you. thanks brother, im gonna buy it. new sub to you!
Haha, thank you for subscribing! I hope you have fun with this game--it's so good once you get into it!
Very detailed....u make a great teacher compared to other popular UA-camrs who try to teach this stuff in a 3min video.
This Game is awesome, I am a console player and was very happy I could play this on my laptop using Xbox controller 👍😎
Thank you for the kind words! I am so glad you are finding this helpful! This game is so great. I should try it with a controller! Maybe I would get better at the combat haha
This is a fantastic series! I have always wanted to give Zomboid a chance and after watching your videos I'm super ready to start up the game and give it a chance! Thank you so much :) You have gained a sub and I'm excited to see more content!!!
Oh great! I am so glad you enjoy this and are finding it helpful! Project Zomboid is so much fun--even if you are bad at it like I am, haha! Once you get the basics and can explore and die on your own, the game really takes off. Have fun!
Thanks for the thorough introduction to the game, okay.
I remember buying and playing it for a short amount of time and being overwhelmed, okay.
But thanks to your detailed explanations I am going to give it another try, okay.
And while I honestly believe your Guide is the best I've found so far, okay, saying okay after almost every sentence is driving me crazy, OKAY!
Much love, okay.
Haha, I am so glad you are finding this series to be helpful and I hope you are enjoying the game! Yeah, that verbal tic is a relic of my teaching and I had no idea how prevalent it was, but I have certainly taken note of it based on the comments here and made a concsious effort to reduce its frequency when creating guides haha ;D
Glad to hear that!
I just jumped into a game and was shocked at how many zombies there were, way more than in your guide. And they seem to always instinctively run in my direction before even seeing me.
I died in the first ten minutes :D
@@Mrlemar1 Some maps give you a really rough start--the hoards can be far away from your starting position and it's great, but other times they can be right by you and it's awful.
@@DrIncompetent Good to know :) Thanks again!
Well done tutorials. I am on episode 7 now. Some experts try to do a beginners guide and show you what you need to do but you walk away not knowing how or why. I am giving this game another try because you explain it in detail. I just need to get over the hump of dying first day. Appreciate the series and I will check out others.
Thank you my friend! Haha, I die so much in this game and was so confused at first! It's overwhelming, so I tried to explain as much as possible to be clear as I had the same problem with the existing guides ;) Have fun with the game!
A good guide so far for beginners and people looking to get into the game. I just made it to the point that you spawned into your world (20 min mark) and wanted to point out a couple of things.
The only big issue I see is with the sandbox creation. As someone said already you're currently playing using the apocalypse settings which is the hardest option to play with(also the sandbox default). It would be best to start new players on initial infection which changes a lot of the settings, starts the player off with basic gear, and makes things A LOT easier.
Also, you don't have to change the starting time to catch the cooking show. If you spawn in a house with a TV or find one fast enough you can still catch the cooking show in time if you turn the TV on immeadiately upon spawning in (though changing it to 5am DOES give you the time to find a house with a TV if you don't have one in the starting home). I pretty much never spawn in houses with TV's so I usually find myself sneak jogging to the nearest house in hopes of finding one.
Thanks for the feedback! You are very right that I mistakenly didn't change the sandbox setting from apocalypse, which made the game harder! If I could change that about the guide, I surely would. Initial Infection is good for people who really want an easier experience, but I like Survival mode the best--even starting as, although it's harder, is not as punishing as apocalypse and it's what I did the first time I booted it up and enjoyed the game ;)
To add to this. When you first spawn there is always a show you can watch asap, outside the normal showing. What this means is if you spawn at 5am youbca
Oh wow. I was just thinking about you doing this the other day. Im excited for this series. Bravo
Haha, this game is so great ;) I'm going to try and put in all the good advice I learned from everyone to help new people enjoy and understand it a little bit more ;)
Good videos to not just tell people tips, but teach them to actually get some game sense and figure out how to learn things be themselves later on knowing what to look for.
Thank you! That's the idea--to try and give the basics so you can enjoy the game on your own and still be surprised and have a better understanding of why things happen.
Hey! Great Tutorial! Btw. I saw you canceling the "open window-prompt" way to early, so my advice is don't cancel the act, it works surprisingly often, many times it just takes a lot longer (depending on the window). If you character isnt able to open the window it will cancel by itself.
That's a great tip about the windows--thank you for clarifying this!
I'm pretty sure the toolbox is a container. You have to equip it in your hands to inspect the contents. When you hovered over the toolbox it showed a screwdriver inside. Hope this helps anyone else. Thanks for the guide!
This is a great point--thank you for sharing this! You are right--you can see little icons of the contents with a hover but must equip it to open it!
You can put containers on the ground to inspect the contents.
Just picked up the game over the weekend, definitely going to be following along while i learn. I made the early game easy, increased the spawn rate of most everything, but made it so zombies wont respawn. I figure doing so i can have a better understanding of the mid to late game stuff(farming, working on cars, building bases, guns, etc) then worry about learning the more punishing aspect of the survival aspect later. And RPing as a Perpetual from 40k sent to cleanse my home city of infected for the Imperium is also very fun :D
Wow, nice ideas for customizing the game!
Thank you so much for this guide ! It has helped me tremendously understand the game mechanics better. I'm loving every moment of this game, and you've just made it even better. It's insane how much detail has been put into it.
You're also extremely relaxing to listen to, and you're very good at building up on knowledge at a logical pace. Keep up the great work. I'm on chapter 13 of this playlist . Thanks again, and have a great day
Haha, awesome! I am so glad you are enjoying it and finding it useful :D This game is so great once you get going haha
@DrIncompetent yeah, I'm starting to see that with everyhour ! Loving your burger build btw.. currently moved out to riverwood, making a general store my home, there is a gas station nearby, and even q lumber mill. I'm right by the water. This is my best run yet, stocking up for the winter and trying to figure out how I'm gonna be surviving once power runs out.
Does the gas station have unlimited fuel ? :))
Atm I'm so addicted I only play this game, and when I'm not playing I watxh your playthroughs hehe LOVE IT!!
Such a good video, thanks for making the time to create this! Looking forward to next one. Initially it seemed like your explanations were too detailed, like for someone who is not at all familiar with these concepts, but I was so wrong! The way you explain makes it stick and helped me notice things that I would have otherwise ignored. A pleasure to listen to you talk.
Oh fantastic! I am so glad you have found this to be useful :) I hope you are enjoying the game!
Thanks so much for such an in-depth guide. I had no idea the loot window had an option to switch between containers so now I realize I was missing A LOT of stuff in my initial very failed attempts.
You are so welcome! I am glad this was helpful for you :) Yes! There are so many small things that you can miss in this that will crush you early--when I first started I didn't know how to loot the zombies haha
Thank you, I kept on running into zombies and not once did I think to scroll out to see and avoid them this has actually made it so much easier keep up the good work👍
Oh great! I am so glad you are finding this series to be helpful :D
You've done like 10 different guides for games I've either wanted to learn but couldn't for whatever reason (Wayward for example) or played so long ago I've forgotten/the game's changed so much (Zambies) that you get a sub. Holy shit you put out some great content.
Edit: Oh my god you're a real life Mr. Mackey, mmm'kay? Your style works so well... but I had to give you a little shit about that verbal tic.
Haha, I do say m'kay alot! ;D I also do um and now a ton haha ;D Ah those verbal tics haha
@@DrIncompetent Mine's "y'know." I tend to ramble off into the clouds and "y'know," is my attempt to make sure I'm grounded by asking other people if... well, if they know what I mean. :P
You should do a guide for Siralim Ultimate and/or Warsim. Both games are blind playable and neither game is a simplistic audiogame. Honestly, I think you'd get a kick out of them. SU especially.
Exactly what I needed. There are so many options, I was just lost. Truly appreciate the effort you put into this series. I’ll be saving this to reference as needed. However if I hear the word OK again so many times in such a short time I might lose my god forsaken mind. Ok?
Haha, I'm so glad you have found this helpful! The game is quite overwhelming at first, to be sure. Haha, I guess OK is a verbal tick I have when I'm explaining things--I'm sorry about that... Okay? haha
You’re awesome! Thank you for the in-depth explanation without all the crazy editing I’ve seen in other videos
You are so welcome! I am glad you have found this series to be helpful and I hope you are enjoying the game!
Love the beginners guide. Thanks for not showing off too many cheese strats in video one. Checked it out since i became rusty. Jumping through the needed tutorials for my skill set. Thanks bromego!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching :D
So happy to find a very recent beginner's guide with tons of great tips and info. Been debating getting this on my Steam Deck for a while but most vids/series are like a year or more old - and I know there's been major updates and changes since most of them were recorded. Will definitely be binge watching what's up in this series so far to help make my decision heh Thanks!
Haha, great! I am so glad you are finding this helpful :) Let me know how it plays on Steam Deck if you decide to buy it ;) Seems like it would be a good fit!
@@DrIncompetent I'm pretty much sold on it lol My only concern is how the controls will be. There's a LOT of different menus and things. I've played many PC originating (and exclusive) games on it and some that do have controller support included don't always work well unfortunately.
@@PlayfulDead22 Its not bad on the steam deck! Definitely recommend setting one the touch pads to be your mouse and rear buttons to be left/right click. Makes dealing with the menus a bit easier if youre playing handheld.
@@CaspianCrowley So, I have the left touchpad remapped as mouse movement and R4 as Left Click. I always remap games to have L4 as screenshot and L5 to bring up the keyboard usually. I remapped the right touchpad to swipe up to zoom in, swipe down to zoom out. R5 is currently remapped to F2.
I really would love it if the controller controls could be set up so that you'd hold in right trigger/bumper to activate combat controls, so then A would become attack and B would become push.
@PlayfulDead Oh right pad being zoom is a great idea, might give that a try
I just bought the game during the steam spring sale and wanted to thank you for your PZ series. You have explained things so well and I have a much better understanding of the game. I subscribed as well.
Oh fantastic! I'm so glad you are enjoying the game and are finding this helpful. PZ is one of those games that I love even though I'm terrible at it haha ;D I died? Time to start a new character! haha
I’ve been looking for a tutorial just like this thank you!
Oh great, I am so glad you are finding this helpful :) I hope you have fun with Project Zomboid!
Thanks for this vid and any more guides you have done just re-installing the game now also subbed and pressed the bell hello from Scotland
Hello! Haha, awesome! I hope you are having more fun with the game :D It's so fun once you get the basics down.
Thanks for this series, the realization that you respawn into the same map and can reclaim your stuff was huge for me. Had no clue what I was doing before. Your definitely the Bob Ross of the apocalypse!
Haha, awesome! Yes, respawning in the same world helps so much to make progress. I hope you are having fun with the game!
15:32 it does provide a really nice "fug it we ball," moment when you notice you're getting queasy without eating bad food. You're gonna turn, so run around and learn more about the map/skills/etc on the way out lol
Haha, so true! It's time to Yolo learn as you start to zombify;)
Nice tutorial. i have watched several, but you highlighted several things that noone else mentioned, and I would not have thought of in the game.
I'm so glad you have found it to be helpful! I hope you are enjoying the game :)
Just got this game and played just a few times and was way overwhelmed, thanks so much for this video. You are amazing.
I'm so glad you are finding it to be helpful! Yeah, it's very overwhelming haha and the Zeds just don't let you catch your breath... haha
Oh finally.
A guide like this... I really tried to complete the game without guide but no... I just died with no clue of how and why and what would I do better, but now I have this. Thanks!
Haha, exactly! My first attempts were horrible and I was about to pass on the game, but once you get the basics you can survive much longer and the game becomes so much more fun! Now I'm hooked ;)
Im only half way through your 1st episode, and this is already 100x better than anything else I could find. Ty and Nj.
Awesome! I'm so glad you are finding it helpful! I hope you are enjoying the game :D
Excellent Video! Thank you!
You are so welcome! I hope you are enjoying the game!
Hey man, your upload schedule is crazy! Really like the tutorials :)
Haha, I just enjoy making videos so I tend to make a lot haha ;) So glad you are enjoying the tutorials--I have a great time approaching the game from an instructional side if I can haha
@@DrIncompetent hi im sorry if this is in the video but i dont really ahve the time for an ENTIRE 1 hour video does this mention how to survive the chopper event? and if so what time stamp? i keep finding enough food and water to make it but weaponry becomes an issue especially once the zeds start banging on my window, i cant exactly go out and deal with them without the retarded helicopter pilot sitting ABOVE my house drawing them in for miles
This was totally helpful, this saves so much time trying to learn the basics.

Oh great! I am so glad it was helpful to you ^_^ I hope you are enjoying the game ;D
well done .I enjoyed the vid . thanks for the info keep up the good work
Awesome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I hope you are having fun with the game!
I just got the game, have wanted to play it for a while because it both intimidates and fascinates me with the realism with certain actions and how in depth mechanics can be. Loved the video and will definitely be watching the rest of the series to pick up more tips for survival.
You are right on--the realism is insane. As you get further, the sheer volume of things you can do is wild. That being said, it's quite intimidating to learn it all at first haha
Wow. Great beginner guide. It's long, but worth the watch. A lot of good information.
I am so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful! This is a great game ^_^
This is extremely helpful. Very clear, very detail.
Oh great, I am so glad you have found this to be helpful! I hope you are enjoying the game!
Thanks for this nice tutorial. I just started to play and it's really useful.
Awesome! So glad you have found it to be helpful :D I hope you are enjoying the game!
Started playing yesterday, and noticed turning the time to 5am, and you spawn in house with tv, tune in to the life and living channel at once, you get the 12 pm broadcast then aswell (fishing i think it was), then another broadcast at 6am, after that it continues normally.
Ooo, that's great! Thanks for that tip!
On thing I have noticed just by watching PZ content is if you find any bag or other transportable container you could fill it up with stuff and just leave it outside. If and or when you get a car you can roll around picking up any bags that are in the street. Maybe you don't need all those cans of food right away but if they are contained in some bag you can just roll up and throw that in you car and roll away. Having a red tool box out in the open would be pretty eye catching.
Good idea!
Very thorough, nice work
Thank you! I'm so glad you are finding it helpful. I hope you are enjoying the game!
Perfect tutorial. Thank you very much
Oh great! I am so glad you found it helpful. I hope you are enjoying the game!

You are so welcome! I hope you are enjoying the game!
Asmr pz while learning! Love to see it
Haha, the killer combo! ;D I hope you are having fun with this amazing game ;D
I don't actually need the guide as I have 400+ hours now, but I wanted to thank you for making this. I would have loved something like this when I started. This video has obviously helped a ton of people so far and will continue to do so. Great work, my friend. Subbed.
Thanks so much for the kind words! This game is so fantastic, but it's just a ton to take in when you start out haha. I'm trying to hopefully take the knowledge from my many deaths and help new people get further because it gets even better as you make progress haha
I am late to this party, and don’t own a machine I can play this game on.
I’m watching this tutorial because I enjoy watching this game and enjoy you explaining things.
I just wanted to comment to say how much I appreciated your responses to the repeated criticism of your vocal tics. Good job, doc.
Haha, thanks my friend! Yeah, it's a learning experience for me and I have learned to be more aware of what I say unconsciously haha
Amazing tutorial. ❤
Haha, awesome! I am so glad you are finding this series to be helpful and I hope you are enjoying the game and not being eaten by zombies haha
If Project Zomboid ever gets ported to PlayStation or if I’m ever able to get a computer, I’m going to be mentally experienced.
Wouldn't that be amazing! I hope it does too--I'd play it for sure on PS.
I also did a search to see if you hd a guide for Loop Hero (found it), since I got a little stuck, and by chance found Zomboid here as well. Amazing. I got this game as backer in what feels like a billion years ago. I love the idea, the visual, but never got the hand of it. I dream about enjoying it co-op mode with my wife and, once again, Dr Incompetent (clearly extremely competent) to the rescue! Thank you so much for all this great content.
This game is so good, but it took me a lot of dying to get into it haha ;) I still have a lot to learn but really enjoy finding out all the details that make this such an immersive experience.
@@DrIncompetent Do you enjoy/have played/consider making a guide for Cataclysm DDA? I would absolutely adore watching you play that.
Oh, you actually have a Let's play of it! hahahah (well, of course you would)
But I find no guide as of yet, am I right?
I've also just seen that you're streaming Jupiter Hell! I was going to say hi but apparently there is no chat I have access to. I love that game.
I'm glad I could stop by a bit! Hope to watch some more of your live streams in the future!
It was great to have you stop by! One day, I might do a guide for CDDA but I have to learn more first. I just know the very basics haha
I know a lot of this but this was so interesting to watch 😊
Haha, awesome! So glad you are enjoying it ;)
Best guide!
Haha, awesome! I am so glad you have found this to be helpful and I hope you are enjoying Project Zomboid! ;D
Just got the game to give it a shot gonna be watching your vids👀🤭
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it :D
Home boy says the word okay literally constantly. But such a good guide either way.
Haha, thanks for watching! I'm glad you found it useful. I hope you are enjoying the game!
I like to be a pummeling force to be reckoned with that can clobber zombies! So I go with negative trait thirst, positive traits Strength (+10) and Brave!
Lol, nice! Smash them zeds! haha
What a great guide
Awesome! So glad you have found this series to be helpful and I hope you are enjoying the game :D
Amazing vid! Great work, but I feel I need an equalizer to get the audio clear. Even with subwoofer off there a lot of bass.
Haha, thanks! I have kind of a low voice, so there is a lot of bass haha ;)
Hadn't watched any videos when I first played PZ and WP and is the only place I've ever started 😮
Oh wow, I hope you find a new starting place if you make a new world!
Haven’t played zomboid in 4 years almost. Def got a lotttttttt to learn
Just the graphical updates alone are INSANE same with the new file size haha
Haha, awesome! Yes, a lot has changed and the game just keeps getting better!
I love this video so amazing
Oh, great! I'm so glad you enjoy it and are hopefully finding it helpful ^_^ This is such a fun game!
i just recently purchase now watching guides since i keep dying lol...your guides are awesome thank you
Haha, awesome! I tell you we all die in the beginning--it's a tough but wonderful game :D
your voice is so nice it captured my attention and held it
Haha, great! I hope you are having fun with the game :)
This video deserve so much likes 👍🏻 well done sir
Thank you so much my friend :) I am glad you are finding it useful! This is such a fun game ;)
I actually find the game quite overwhelming at first. Are you planning to make another starting guide? Or do you have a starting build for beginner?
This was super helpful do have any suggestions for longplay at all?
Do you mean a long play to watch? This is an ongoing series so it's all a long play haha ;D we cover a lot of content here!
No, I guess I worded that wrong. Do you have any tips or tricks or mods you suggest to create long play series
There is an easier way to open/close curtains. If you are close enough to the window, you can hold L-Shift and press left mouse button 😊
Yup! This is true!
Hi Dr. Incompetent. Thanks for this series, very helpful and enjoyable! I'm finding it difficult to follow along with though. I've tried 30+ fresh starts and whenever I leave the starting house there seems to be 10+ zombies visible from just outside the door, and it's impossible to get to adjacent houses without aggroing at least 5 zombies. Has something changed since these videos were uploaded? Finding it quite frustrating. I know I can lower the zombie pop, but I don't understand the stark contrast between what I see in these videos and what I experience in my games.
I am sorry my friend! It is a brutal game. There is no avoiding the zombies entirely. I get lucky in the beginning, but fight dozens at a time later on haha ;D I suggest sneaking around or just walking by the zeds. They won't catch you. Break line of sight with trees, buildings, etc. and keep looking for a place with just a few zombies (or none). Kill the few in the area you find (it may take a bit to get the combat down) by walking backward and swinging with whatever weapon you can find and then ransack the purged area for loot and start building!
Thank you for taking the time to reply! I think it was just a case of your luck in the beginning like you say, I've watched the entire playlist now and some of your other characters had a much rougher time. I'm up to ~75 hours played now and having a blast. I even killed 220 Zs with one molotov yesterday, just kept walking through town in a big circle mashing Q and looping round to keep them all in a ball. It takes about half a day to gather them all and then waiting the 1.5-2 hours for them to burn but it's worth it for the easy looting afterward. I've been doing the actual burning in car parks as the vehicles don't currently take any fire damage.
You probably know, but the less sleeping of wakeful isn't why it's good, it's the lessened fatigue gain.
That makes sense! Thanks for clarifying!
I have like 1k hours in dayZ and some more z games and for some reason I didn't even know this exists :D gonna buy this when summer sales starts for sure. Looks like great game, thx for this tutorial
You are so welcome! Yeah--this is a really good zombie game!
This was such a thorough, thoughtful, and helpful video! Thank you.
Oh great! I am so glad you found it helpful! I hope you are having fun with Project Zomboid :D
10:56 I ALWAYS pick Unlucky, weak stumach and slow reader. They dont affect you mutch at all. The unlucky gives you 10% less loot but its just not noticable. And weak stumach just dont eat rotten or dangerous food. And slow reader is countered by speeding time in singleplayer.... Very easy almost free points with little downsides
Yes! I now always take Slow Reader and Weak Stomach in single player, but I haven't tried unlucky. Thanks for the tip!
I'm definitely loving the game. I just got the game last week and have been having a blast learning the game! I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything after surviving my first week in game. The crafting menu tab is one I missed. Once I can survive a month I'll check the rest in the Playlist out. It's a great reference to make sure I am actually understanding the mechanics.thanks my dude!!
I am so glad you are having fun with the game! It is so fantastic. You can definitely come back and learn from my deaths haha ;) There is a lot to go over in this one!
this video gave me a better understanding of the game than any of the other bigger youtubes videos, thank you!
Great! I am so glad this was helpful :) I hope you are enjoying Project Zomboid! ;D
hold on around 19:39 you mentioned that the home you spawn in is safe, I can tell you with certainty that it's not always the case. I had a trailer home with like 7 zombies on one character i did that I spawned in with.
That sounds awful! I was under the impression that your first spawn in a new world was into a safe house, but I guess it doesn't always work that way!
You can pause while the map is open, on single player.
Okay, thank you for clarifying this! That is helpful haha
Hello! Thanks for laying all the information i really did enjoy the video.
One critique, the "ok" gets a bit cringy. I dont say this to throw shade just something to consider. For the future.
Great! I'm so glad you enjoyed it ;D Haha, the okay is just my inner-teacher making sure everyone registers the point so we can move on. I'll try and reduce it moving forward but it's ingrained haha
Question are your other videos you made on this additions, or is it a remake with any added things in updates?
They are additions, continuing the character and exploring more game content!
2024 1st time player checking in lol
Haha, good luck! This game is so fun :D
I just started playing this game ... at first, trying to find information is extremely daunting. I have to say that I love the way you present the information. I'm about an hour in and I can't wait to watch more and learn new things from you :) Fantastic video, subscribed and liked. :D
Oh great! I am so glad you are finding this video to be helpful. This game is so amazing, but is very intimidating at first haha ;) I hope you have fun with it!
Why is your voice oddly soothing and satisfying?
Haha, I am glad you are finding it easy to listen to ;D I hope you are having fun with the game!
I am thanks! Your tut helped a lot.@@DrIncompetent
very very good tutorial -- if there was a way to use AI to remove at least 50% of the "alright?" and "okay?" prompts I'd be able to watch more than 2-3 min at a time ;)
Haha, fair enough ;) I'm so glad you have found this to be helpful and I hope you are having fun with the game!
You've got such a great radio voice.
Haha, thanks my friend ;D
The first Life & Living show plays the first time you turn on the tv. Don't have to adjust the time.
Oh nice! Thank you for clarifying this!
If you already read the book in your inventory. Can you reread it again to help your boredom, or once you read the book, you need another one?
As far as I know you, can only read skill books once to get the bonus. Normal books that you read to cure boredom disappear once you have completed them, so I don't believe there is any re- reading of books. You need to find new books and new magazines. I hope this helps!
There is a mod that allows you to reread all of your books, granting less and less benefits each time.
Information: The easiest way to tackle boredom is to be outside. So when you establish a base, a lot of times it's wise to build some platforms on the 2nd floor so you can set up rain catcher barrels. Then, you just sit outside on that "deck" when you are reading or just pop out there a bit here and there to avoid being indoors for too long.
Alternatively, if you want to gather them, stocking a CD player and CD's allow you to use a CD to combat boredom and some combat stress. Once a day, I think.
A lot of people don't, but I usually stockpile at least some newspaper/red books/comic books because there are times where you will be stuck inside and there's nothing to be done for it (such as severe storm).
Boredom isn't THAT big a deal really, but will eventually lead to sadness and depression. This can be countered by cooking nice food or just letting it build up for a while and then clearing it with a red book.
