As always Mark, you have this unprecedented talent to turn a song which I never really cared for into a true masterpiece. You've captured so much emotion, depth and beauty in this piece, I can only dream of playing this one day half as good as you. Know that if you were ever to publish sheet music for this, I'd be your first customer!
@AHDPA no, I took your advice and opted out, apart from a select few, which I really feel do work with strings, all future recordings will be piano solo only with no strings/background voices. After careful consideration over what you and a another said, I agree and think the piano needs to be on its own, as the strings take away aspects from the piano, nuances etc... that need to be pure and heard. No more ballads and nice piano solos will be with strings from now on. My next piece has strings.
Wow; I just today remembered this song from my Third Form days and promptly searched for a piano cover because I enjoy listening to them on the way to university classes. What are the chances that you, someone whose Dragonborn rendition I've been listening to every day, would also have a cover of this? Thanks Mark Fowler!
Another excellent piece. It's got to the stage now where I know I can click 'like' on a new video before watching it & not worry about being wrong! Keep up the good work.
@OurBestMusicChannel This is rough but I think its correct - I added in a lower G for the first E, then A for the F# (so minor sixths to start with). Then I think for the next note B I added in D, for C# I added an E (thrid minor up) with C# octave higher, then the last note you mention - the D, I added a lower B with D (minor third up again) and B (octave up from lower B), then its onto E I think with the same notes as the C# chord, then lastly its D with F# (minor third up) and octave higher D
Standing, on the edge of forever, At the start of whatever, Shouting love at the world. Back then, we were like cavemen, But we map the moon and the stars, Then we forgave them. We will meet you where the lights are, The defenders, of the faith we are. Where the thunder turns around They'll run so hard we'll tear the ground away. You know no one dies, In these love drowned eyes, Through our love drowned eyes, We'll watch you sleep tonight. Although no one understood We were holding back the flood, Learning how to dance the rain. We were holding back the flood They said we'd never dance again. Bleeding, but none of us leaving, Watch your mouth son or you'll find yourself floating home. Here we come now on a dark star, Seeing demons, not what we are. Tiny minds and eager hands Will try to strike but now will end today. There's progress now where there once was none, Where there once was none, then everything came along. Although no one understood, We were holding back the flood learning how to dance the rain. There was more of them than us now they'll never dance again. @ekklesiast the CLP-380 you mean? thats a very good piano, sounds better live, but for recording my HP-307 is better and all 88 keys are sampled not 50 like on the CLP-380, I personally can tell this when I am playing, makes a difference to the richness of the sounds of the piano. Bass is probably a tad overbearing on the 307 though, and the onboard speaker system is far better on the 380, but thats what you pay for and why it is so much more expensive, but it dont make a difference to recording
I really love this song. It is superb!! You are a great pianist. Believe me. Anyone can pass me the score? I am looking for it but I can´t find it anywhere. Please help this piano lover :) Thanks very much indeed.
Do you have any CDs of your work? I'm getting married in November and would love to walk down the aisle to your cover of Take That The Flood - been a sad little TT fan since I was 11 (the first time they were out!) Thanks x
An absolute gem... You turned this fantastic song into an epic composition. Bravo, just bravo...👏👏👏
Love it. I’m addictive to listening to it over and over 😊
How could you NOT cry while playing this masterpiece? Fantastic!
This is amazing, for something that you have arranged yourself this is nothing other than perfect!
This is the best piano cover of this song on UA-cam. I was wondering ..
Could you make a tutorial? Or play from above (?)
This is a beautiful solo, I must say - it's an absolute shame we don't get people like you on Britain's Got Talent. :(
Such a beautiful music

Existing superlatives would not do this arrangement its full justice, it is stunningly beautiful. Gary Barlow would be blown away if he heard it.
