I will never tire of hearing this song. It's beautiful in so many ways. We grow up, we grow old (if we are lucky) and thank God for our memories, which can get us all through our darkest days. Love you, Jimmy.
Beautiful words 👏
I'm lucky enough to have Flesh and Wood on CD still. I'm just great full that a CD will never wear out
Say again, near his best. Love Jimmy Barnes!
I’m still crying
My favourite version of this song. Slow and bare, captures the mood perfectly
I was walking by a record store many, many years ago and heard a beautiful song from outside. It caught me immediately so I walked straight in and asked what song it was. It happened to be the only CD of "Flesh and Wood" they got - because they ordered it accidentally! So I asked them to take it out of the player and sell it - which they denied. After I had begged them for a while they wanted to get rid of me and finally sold it to me. Still the best acoustic album of all time to me!
One word. Perfection.
What a beauty of a song.
for long, I've been listening

My favourite.

Now I know it bis NOT Chisel. I have never heard Chisel do this live (before 2003) So this is my favourite live version. Would love to see something live, from Chisel in the 80's
There is a live version, performed by Chisel, on UA-cam
Ringside & Last Stand are a cpl of versions of this on YT
Just now finding Jimmy Barnes, through Joe Bonamassa
Recently found him myself.Love finding artist like this all these years after!
There is lots to enjoy. Should also check him out as lead singer of Cold Chisel!
Does anyone know if this album is on iTunes?
Kids out driving saturday afternoon just pass me by
And I'm just savoring familiar sights
We share some history, this town and I
And I can't stop that long forgotten feeling of her
Try to book a room and stay tonight
Number one is to find some friends to say "you're doing well"
After all this time you boys look just the same
Number two is the happy hour at one of two hotels
Settle in to play "do you remember so and so?
Number three is never say her name
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around
But oh who needs that sentimental bullshit, anyway
Takes more than just a memory to make me cry
And I'm happy just to sit here a table with old friends
And see which one of us can tell the biggest lies
And there's a girl falling in love near where the pianola stands
With a young local factory auto worker just holding hands
And I'm wondering if he'll go or if he'll stay
Do you remember, nothing stopped us on the field
In our day
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around
I practice so many to navigate thru his tone change.
It's impossible to do it with any form of glee or bitterness.
My aboriginal girlfriend was brutally murdered.
I'm trying to combine Jimmy's brash proud kalaidscope with modern mens blues.
Complicated...
Many dismiss Jimmy's vocals as a form of "screaming". Not so - he is usually, technically, on point and has always had an excellent vocal range. I'm genuinely sorry for the girl you lost 🦋
Love ❤️ from Samoa 🇼🇸
