- Col. (ret.) Lawrence Wilkerson's last positions in government were as Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff (2002-05), Associate Director of the State Department's Policy Planning staff under the directorship of Ambassador Richard N. Haass, and member of that staff responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, political-military and legislative affairs (2001-02).
-
Before serving at the State Department, Wilkerson served 31 years in the U.S. Army. During that time, he was a member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval War College (1987 to 1989), Special Assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-93), and Director and Deputy Director of the U.S. Marine Corps War College at Quantico, Virginia (1993-97). Wilkerson retired in 1997 and began work as an advisor to General Powell. He has also taught national security affairs at the George Washington University.
Blinken is a war criminal
only blinken? the list is long where the arrogance reign, destroying a nation and two peoples for their interests and speaking always about national security.
90% of our politicians, & of course all the unelected officials that seemed to work for every administration no matter what party is in office, & have proven they are pure unadulterated Mass murdering zio nists...
Together with his boss!
George Bush was a war criminal too, but the international criminal court was prohibited by the US to press charges against him 😊 It goes to show how "just" this system is.

No sorry, these 80 year olds are the biggest problem in government. He tells you at the beginning he was a parasite for 50 years. No one should live off the taxpayer for 50 years. IF American citizens cannot realize we have created an elite class that lives off the taxpayer and insider trading. ALL politicians have inside information they all get rich. This is a huge problem EDIT That does not mean I don't agree with him, I do agree with him, especially on Israel, but if you look at the other 80 year olds in government he is a minority. I wonder why the Col. never mentions the lobby has bought and paid for these politicians

Respect to you, Nima, for being able to keep up with all the various political events around the world!
I really enjoy listening to Col Wilkerson, by far the most pragmatic of your guests!
In the 1970's my x-army father was first secretary and consule at the Canadian embassy in Bonn, Germany. He told me one day, that during a dinner with the ambassador, they were discussing American politicians and buisness men. It was said they were scrupuless, ruthless, callous and vicious. So the rejection of the American world presence doesn't surprise me !
Hell with Nuthinyahoo. I'm sick of him and this Regime.
I’m sick of you
that toilet sure needs flushing.
The whole?”country”.
Wow! Minute approx 14:00. Wilkerson nails it. The current college students do NOT have The Draft motivating them. They are protesting on pure moral grounds - unselfish, putting their entire futures at risk, getting their heads bashed, getting expelled, getting banned, getting police records, getting every kind of threat thrown at them and STILL they are out there protesting U.S. support of genocide! They are amazing.
I'm nearly as old as Wilkerson. I was part of those '60s protests. I have felt recently that America's soul was dead, slaughtered by Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld and their successors. Not so! These students - who have so much to lose, and no Draft to fear (currently) - are saving our soul as a country. Bless them!
I agree with you 💯
Col. Larry Wilkerson is brilliant. Wish more people are like him in the US. Love Col. Larry Wilkerson dearly Col. Larry Wilkerson.❤❤❤
Col. Wilkerson is an American patriot. It sickens me to see how our politicians are destroying our country. Hopefully, we'll make it until January without imploding.
TRUMP!
Trump is pro Isreal
Don't expect trump to be Americas saviour.. because he won't be, Americas reputation is beyond fixing.. America has shown its true face as a political war machine.. trump is no different.. the problem is the military industrial complex that runs American politics and international policy. The very moment the US vetoed a cease fire in gaza, all countries who voted for a cease were erased.. the USAs stance on freedom democracy for the whole of humanity is a great lie. They are literally funding and supplying weapons to kill innocent people. Just like Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and many more.. in 23 Years America has invaded 9 Middle Eastern countries and killed 11 million people.. America will fall. it's not a question of if. it's a question of when.
Trump will be worse. That's the conundrum.
Duh - If you have Laurel ( Biden ) and Hardy ( Trump) your only two choices- Then you are in such a terrible condition. - Maybe Kennedy could be the best choice ???
Nether candidate will do anything to make things better vis-a-vis foreign policy.
Col. Wilkerson, Your perspective and real-world views of the US state of world affairs is 100% spot on. Just look at the ages of the founding fathers the day our declaration of independence was signed. The majority we under the age of 50. We need a new generation of leadership. NOW!

Thank you again Nima and Thank you Sir CoL. Wilkerson for your thoughts.
Oh my gosh, this interview has pushed me over the edge! Many old people have a bucket list of places they would like to visit and things they would like to do before they leave the planet. I am 70 years old and my list only contains people that I would love to meet and shake their hands and tell them how much I love them and the messages they gave to humanity in their time and Larry Wilkerson is at the top of my list! Doug Macgregor, Larry Johnson, Ray McGovern, and Scott Ritter are the others, although I was able to be in attendance when Major Ritter spoke in Kingston, NY at an even held by Gerald Celente. These men are so very dear to me and their honesty and truth resonate so strongly that I absolutely feel that my life will not be complete until I thank them in person for who they are, what the believe in, and for getting the message out that I in my anonymity cannot put out! Thank you Nima, you are providing a great service to mankind!

There are many "crusted" younger people in government too. Larry himself (at 80 years of age) is a testament to the fact that chronological age should not be a criterion for valuing one's judgement and competence.
decrepetude should not be the ONLY consideration.
Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsome are no less senile than biden
Agree. And look at the new heroes coming along, including Col. Wilkerson himself. It's not age. It's entrenched corruption. Plenty of corrupt young people in government. I think Col. W. got a bit emotional and lashed out, using Biden's and others' decrepitude. Understandable - but it isn't really their age that's the problem.

It's Wall Street and military industrial complex power over politics that is the base of the problem. They control the choice of candidates, who will always do the bidding of their donors. Complaining about Biden is not especially productive. Institutional reform is the only solution. Cf. Noam Chomsky.

So right, Colonel: these youngsters do, indeed, inspire hope.
Back during the Vietnam era, the USGov powers behind such pushes were called "the establishment." Currently, the establishment is responding in much the same way. These defiant, highly commendable university students are getting the same 'education' that many of us received more than fifty years ago.
As brutal as that acquisition of knowledge will prove to be, it truly does inspire hope for those who aren't still wearing their zionist-issued blinders.
Thanks for having colonel Wilkerson.
Not supporting either in 2024 is the most ethical way forward. And thank you Col Wilkerson for speaking truth about the current situation.
Larry Wilkerson you call it with straight talk and its all truthful. Keep the faith.
I've followed Col. Wilkerson for some years, since he started being a guest on the Bill Maher Show (I can't believe I used to watch that crap!). He has never ever said anything stupid or anything I wouldn't support myself - although our political and philosophical views may differ.
Cracking up at your comment( I can’t believe I watched that crap) is pretty much what I thought!
Col. Wilkerson is the best! I agree with him 100%!
The only hole in Larry's argument is that Biden, etal, were young people during the Vietnam War protests...it had no lasting effect on those individuals. As a Vietnam veteran, this fact makes me so sad.
Biden was never anti-war....so, I do not get your point. He was a young coward and fool that happened to turn into an old one--per Larry (specifically pointed this out, did you listen?).
They were the class that dodged Vietnam. My compatriots in Vietnam were the White working class, Black Americans, and Hispanic Americans. When I sit in a VA waiting room I look around and still see this 54 years later.
I have the same problem looking at these college protests with such rose colored glasses. The protesters and hippies quickly became yuppies and embraced neoliberalism just as that generation did overall regardless of being a blue or red party follower, and despite some particular differences over the years, had the same foreign policy ideas. This generation of college age students are Baby Boomers 2.0 and are falling for a lot of the same self-aggrandizing narrative that the Boomers did; they are special and different (read "better") than what came before them. And because they are a large, young consumer block (without a sizable anti-consumerism block in consciousness as well as just in lip service) they are pandered to left and right - nothing easier than telling a young person what they want to hear, especially if it strokes their egos. I feel like my life will be lived within two groups of Baby Boomers and this new group is more selfish and self-centered overall. They were never around the people who lived through the Great Depression or WWII to provide some counter-narrative and worldview.
@@JH-pt6ih lol....millennial generation has had a continuous recession since the early 2000's. We live in a world where the majority of us are worse of than their parents, have no confidence in ANY institution, have little prospects of things improving and understand the system is corrupted in a way the Boomer population did not. We DONT BELIEVE IN ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS ANYMORE. You seem unaware of these phenomena. Boomer generation actually believe their overlords and still tune into corporate media. Younger generations understand its propaganda like citizens of USSR or China. The system is due for a crash sir.
"...it had no lasting effect...". Actually, it did. In the Neo-Con 'bible,' "The Project for a New American Century," you will see the warmongers' plan written out: Goal? To end "the Vietnam Syndrome" (Americans' hatred of war). How? "We will need a new Pearl Harbor." Not kidding.
We are now living out that 'Project."
Back in late 2002/early 2003 - just before the Neo-Cons invasion of Iraq - I found an aggregate opinion poll on the back pages of the NYT in which FIFTY-FOUR PERCENT of Americans opposed the invasion of Iraq.
THAT is what the Neo-Cons had to overcome: 54% of Americans remembered Vietnam.
It is incredible that most Americans listen to crap of so many and might call Col Wilkerson a radical and anti-American. Articulated and based strong message to those who still can think.
I was a young Okla. mother of two children who were born in '67 and '69. This allowed my first husband who was just finishing his degree in Engineering, to avoid the draft. My brother went to Calif. and tried to ruin his health enough to avoid the draft when he got a low number in the "draft raffle." Another friend moved to Canada. My second and future husband had gotten a psychiatrist to judge him "unstable." At his physical, in the end, he was judged not military material thank God. He ended up a great partner and father which may say something about the kinds of men that are judged to be great soldier material. At the time, I judged my government to be wrong to fight a war that ruined the lives of the Vietnamese people in a small country half way across across the world. Later, I got to know a group of these people who fled to our country. I worked with them for ten years. We were all metal craft workers in the same medium sized family owned company. That war made no sense to me. I have never trusted my government, or any government since then. I have however trusted and valued Col. Wilkerson's opinion and insight for several years now. Thanks so much for this Dialogue!

I always knew Larry Wilkerson was experienced and astute, but his level of geopolitical comprehension makes him a critical advisor to a future good US President. Ain't holding my breath for that wisdom to be on tap.
Absolutely great comments from Wilkerson. Certainly most of the current politicians need to be replaced. . . But the problem is the political structure where all politicians are dependent on funding to pay for their campaigns. The new younger breed of politicians will still be beholden to the same donor class. That is the problem that urgently needs to be fixed.
And the politicians who have been complicit in crimes must be held accountable. The concept that politicians are subject to laws must be shown to be a reality.
Exactly, I imagine most of the old political class were at one point idealistic students like the ones protesting now. This rotten electoral system is the problem.
You wouldn’t believe how much of a difference you are making right now colonel. You have such a credible voice of honestythat people wil be switching sides because it shows you know what you are talking about. Immense thanks god bless you

This guy is great. He's now, one of my sources for sanity.
If the US had majority rule, i.e., a democratic form of government, we would have a decent minimum wage, Medicare for all, free education, parental and sick leave, legal marijuana, workers on corporate boards, lower credit card interest, not allowing politicians to own stock or immediately graduate to becoming lobbyists, public funding of drug research for public drug patents, and some kind of green new deal, just at first glance at the polls. We have institutionalized opposition at best, not representation at all.
Libertarians insist that "taxation is theft", but I would argue that rentier income, by definition deriving from ownership alone (a not at all productive extraction from the real economy of producing and consuming goods and services), is theft, and this is what should be taxed.
"Rentiers derive income from ownership, possession or control of assets that are scarce or artificially made scarce. Most familiar is rental income from land, property, mineral exploitation or financial investments, but other sources have grown too. They include the income lenders gain from debt interest; income from ownership of ‘intellectual property’ (such as patents, copyright, brands and trademarks); capital gains on investments; ‘above normal’ company profits (when a firm has a dominant market position that allows it to charge high prices or dictate terms); income from government subsidies; and income of financial and other intermediaries derived from third-party transactions."

In the prosperous days of Libya, before destruction/takeover by US/NATO, renting a home to people was illegal? Families had an acknowledged right to their own residence.
