You can probably get it working again by taking the mechatronics apart and cleaning all parts. But if you can find a working used transmission for cheap I would recommend going that route, since there is a good likelihood that you have deeper mechanical problems causing metal shavings to seize up the valves inside the mechatronics unit.
@@stoplookinent4791 yeah that always sucks. I've spent too many days working under a car parked on the street. Garage space has been my main priority in choosing my living situation for the last few years. Still end up working outside on the driveway more than I like to admit lol.
@@ZachS13FTW its not bad in a suburb. In a urban jungle its more of a hazard. I have the ford freestyle from what im hearing the transmissions just goes out on these period aint no saving them. My car doesnt revv in idle or in park there is no response to gas pedal the wrench light and check engine light are both on. Funny thing i can throw it strait into drive and its driveable it just hums loudly and gives off the helicopter noise..
@@stoplookinent4791 yeah, once they start giving you problems it usually means your input shaft (iirc) has been wearing and giving off the metal shavings that block up the valves inside the mechatronics unit. I cleaned mine twice and it worked afterwards both times, but the problem came back after a month or two. Ended up replacing with a used transmission. From now on I'll be doing fluid changes on CVT, transfer case, rear diff and haldex every 50k to hopefully prevent failures.
Recommend buying Ford's Motorcraft parts as far as filters and fluids, I've heard mixed reviews on the cheaper filters not sealing properly.. although if the cheaper part is the same exact size it should be no problem. Dealerships are never cheap but they usually have parts available or can bring them in, where a lot of part shops might not carry them anymore. I'd recommend finding a rubber transmission pan gasket if you can so you can drop the pan every time you drain it and get any metal particles off the magnet that sticks to the pan, and not have to replace the pan gasket each time.
@@ZachS13FTW I bought an autozone filter and oil, installed I saw that the filter fits but it did not give me confidence, I feel that it does not seal well, I did this before you commented, I drove the car and it continues to give problems, but after 10 minutes the transmission light returns and it does not change, I have to turn off and walk again, take the car 5 places and they only say change the transmission, fault codes p705, B1676, U1900 I don't know what to do
@@williamhernandez351 if possible try to find someone who's scrapping their Freestyle and if the transmission is good, buy it and install it. I got mine working twice by cleaning the valve body and solenoids, but somehow a few months later my CVT chain broke and I ended up having to swap in a used CVT. In hindsight I should have found a used CVT when I first had problems and I would have saved a lot of time. If you do decide to go the swap route, make sure the AWD PTU works on the new one too, it's another part that commonly fails due to fluid not being changed!
Reading the description causes me to lose hope..it doesnt make sense that it end up failing😮 when you cleaned it but according to what your saying after i do my part I should get a transmission flush somehow. When I talk to trans experts mechanics they say they dont mess with this stuff🤯 so its like we are on our own as DIY,ers
Yes the best way is to swap in a transmission that isn't showing any symptoms, and change the fluid and filters every 50k. That goes for the PTU, Haldex, and differential too. Following the lifetime fluid recommendation is just asking for failures.
I took out the first 8 bolts, not its just loose hanging there, but it wont come completely free. Whats the black thing hanging up on, on top.
Did you remove the TCM connector shown in the beginning of video 2? ua-cam.com/video/6lYa3QlfszQ/v-deo.htmlsi=UJokJwWhQkzrOlXz
Not just disconnecting the harness, but removing the part that the harness connects to.
So this unit can be replaced if your getting the dreaded p0944 code hydraulic pressute unit ( fail)🤔
