that's funny... after filming this I looked up at my mid-line which is at that spot and thought... boy that would make a good episode haha. Will do! I've had mine up for 2 years now.
Your in luck. www.howNOTtoHighline.com is our school coming out where we actually say "you can highline" :). I know your joking but we do have our first course done now haha
Yep... but his point is, I think, that you just have to take care not to overload the carabiner... and for a simple line, it's fine to do it like he showed; also simpler.
Weird, I was taught differently. 3 carabiners on dynamic side, 2 at anchor 1 line locked. Line passes from the point of line lock to the first biner under-over back to line lock under-over then to second biner at anchor side over-under and finally back to line locked biner under-over. This way the line is only held at the line lock biner but I've never had one come undone. Takes an extra biner but it works. Nice video btw! It's nice to learn new methods
Love this channel id like iron workers, riging dudes, tree climbers to get on to this channel i never heard of slack line 4weeks ago now i realise its a big thing i might buy a slack line to play with and i can lern to slack line when tree climbing it would come in handy knowing to get across from one tree to other or just fun to bad most people never new they have a sport slack lineing .its funny how the tighter the harde to walk .i could use this on dead trees set it up in to good trees and use it for good tie in over the dead trees insted of belaying 50 feet into a tree trunk
I'm sure it could but it's not entirely safe. I guess if you use a rope backup it would work. The things that don't make it as safe is the carabiners are aluminum and so they don't do well with cyclic loading and are playing a key role being embedded in the line like that. Also the line lock reduces the strength of the webbing to about 50% of MBS so that's not ideal for a highline. Just buy a snatch, hangover and a weblock and buy webbing with a sewn loop on the other side and it is bomber that way
Could you make a video for the 30m? I’m having struggles with the multiplier. Or if some knows where I can learn to make a multiplier with a line lock and carabiners please let me know. Thanks everyone
We put a dyno on a 100 foot slackline recently with a 15:1 pulley and it never went above 6kn when I walked on it (episode coming soon). I doubt this line has more than 4kn at any point and the biners are rated for 24kn. If they aren't triloaded to badly, it would be fine. This just isn't the same risk as a gibbon line wrenched tight af! haha
@@HowNOT2 I would say quality, so strength, precision, ease of use, flawlessness... hard to say... It would be interesting to see the comparative tests, if you already haven't done something like this. I saw the Purelock, it seems quite well made, but I never used such products so I can judge only superficially...
I like the Alpine Weblock 4.0, bomber and durable and big eye. Purelock doesn't require a shackle of any sort but difficult to pretension. Raed pro lock is great if you want to have a soft release on back side (double pin). Frog by Slack mountain is great for the price and isn't any heavier than the others considering it is a single piece of steel (vs aluminum like the AWL4.0 and Purelock. Only the Ram Lock is not that great as it doesn't pre-tension at all so if you use a linegrip and hangover to tension your lines, that one won't work. Slacktivity's seahorse is the best for pretensioning i found. Boy! I really narrowed it down for you ;). Good luck choosing between all those! haha
@@HowNOT2 😊Thanks! So the Seahorse then. It all came to simplicity of use. That in fact is the most important thing. To enjoy the process of setting up. These hangovers, how you call them are very interesting, I suppose many manufacturers make them, I'll try to find these... Take care.
Seahorse and Hangovers are both from Slacktivity. They are only ones who makes a roller right now. Webbing can slip in any weblock, make sure you tie off the tails, especially in seahorse. Slacktivity has youtube videos on how to do this. I also have a buying guide trilogy here ua-cam.com/video/V43waXlR3_g/v-deo.html...
I see but still I cant see no downside in adding 2 crappy carabiners or even 2 steel rings instead to the kit. whereas you could easily reach guitar string tensions with a multiplier, ideal for some bits of dinamic tricks like butt bounce, rocket mount, etc. I remember achieving rocket mount for the for first time as a beginner was so much fun. simple jumpy tricks entertain the beginners and this line is exactly pointed at beginners. not that I wanna change the world of slackline sales or anything I just thought that small little multiplier was missing
I get it. Sometimes people have those already lying around too. Primitive tension systems are already overly complicated for most people and then they just give in to ratchets which I inherently don't like because I'm not a trick liner. To add a multiplier adds 2 more biners at $15 minimum each and it is already at a beginners kit price limit. They really ought to be lockers because a newb could use the non lockers in the wrong place yada yada. It's super good enough for a newby kit haha.
Hey sorry I know I'm 2 years late, but nothing is behind cross loaded. None of the carabiners are having the load put on the gate, so they retain their full strength
Check out our new store! hownot2.store/
No BS, no work salad, just straight information.
Great video. It really shows how simple it can be to get yourself on a line. They don't all have to span canyons to be fun! You gotta start somewhere
I feel bad making a simple slackline video but I want to reach a broader audience haha.
HowNOTtoHIGHLINE How about a video on how to set up a permanent line/midline?

got this slack line second hand..used twice haha. it's an amazing line and kit
I can’t find this kit anywhere, is there anywhere that I can still get it?
Isn't the sling At 3:30 set up in an American death triangle?

Can this system be used to tension highlines (maximum of 50 meters) or is it not tight enough?
I'm sure it could but it's not entirely safe. I guess if you use a rope backup it would work. @@HowNOT2 i really want to do a line thats around 100 feet long can you help me figure a budget way to start longlines?
What's the advantage of using the linelock rather than just hitching around the first 'biner?
Probably keeping your webbing nice and straight
Where can I get me one of them "friends"?
Easy to use How much the cost?

Jon Sotirakopulos send me a pic of what you're set up looks like on fb messenger and I'll coach you through it.
Im having the same issue I think. The instructions really dont illustrate that well.

where is the yellow girl now ..?
I keep finding older n older videos 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
hey really could have thrown in 2 more extra cheapo carabiners for a multiplier.
anyways I guess you have some new webbing to use as soft release
They sell a longer line that include a multiplier. This is just suppose to be the most basic kit.

I can see they are getting exponentially more complicated by the number of pieces
A multiplier multiplies the price haha
It's called Ellington
I was taught that cross-loading carabiners is not ok.

They BOTH can't be the minimum size of tree. One is minimumer than the other >.
And if you need it tighter grab a cute girl
A sticker isn’t swag haha
Or just buy a 20m ratchet strap off eBay for probably less than half of what that's worth
