No one in Heaven will be able to say “I’m here because I did x, y and z”. He will get all the glory. The torturous price He paid was for the debt I owed. No greater love nor gift. We are His sons, and as sons, we want to please our Father through LOVE! Thank you Loving Heavenly Father.

He believes in and teaches a false gospel and according to the apostle Paul is accursed. I pray that some of the millions that he has deceived with his false teachings will stop listening to this man, repent and believe the one true gospel of grace.
@IYearn4HisReturn *Once Saved, Always Saved* is thee gospel for the current dispensation. We're born of Gods Seed, which cannot be corrupted (thus cannot fall)! 1 Peter 1:23 -- _"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which Liveth and abideth for ever."_ If we (our new Heart) are Born of an Incorruptible Seed of God, how can it be corrupted? It cannot be corrupted, thus cannot be lost. It's impossible to be lost after being Born of Gods Seed. The flesh is not the New Heart. That's where many people mix things up and make a huge mistake on this issue. Paul wrote that we (who're born again) are *sealed* until the day of redemption: Ephesians 4:30 -- _"And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are _*_sealed_*_ unto the day of redemption."_ Notice how Paul *did not* write "...sealed until you turn away," or "...sealed until you screw up," or "...sealed until you sin too much," ? :) *Ephesians **1:10**-13* -- _"That in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him: In Whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him Who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ. In Whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,"_ Paul acknowledges the *DISPENSATION* there, and that we're already *PREDESTINED* (as in, all who are born again of the Holy Spirit of God now *were known by God to be His possessions* in eternity, before He even created the world!). Notice how Paul writes to the Ephesians that they were *SEALED* with the Holy Spirit more than once, yet Paul did not write that to the Hebrews? Clearly, two different groups here: one born again, the other not. And those who are not born again can truly fall, as they're not sealed by Gods Holy Spirit! They're not predestined to inherit the Kingdom of God! Colossians 3:3 -- _"For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."_ Paul is saying our old flesh is dead (no threat to us anymore, it died on the cross with Jesus) and now our Life is hidden with Christ in God! Nothing can touch us (our new Heart) now! :) No losing salvation; no falling now: Jude 1:24 -- _"Now unto _*_Him that is able to KEEP YOU FROM FALLING,_*_ and to _*_present you FAULTLESS_*_ before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,"_ It is *JESUS* Who keeps us from falling and always (eternally) presents us faultless, for we are now *Born* of His own Holy Spirit! We're now saved in Eternity (outside of time). We're Spiritually One with God Almighty. To say we can fall would do a huge disservice to Who God is and His Power. John 10:27-30 -- _"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And _*_I give unto them ETERNAL Life; and they shall NEVER perish,_*_ neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand."_ Clearly, Jesus spoke of His "sheep" as those who are Born again of the Holy Spirit of God. Again, He spoke in the present tense for us having *ETERNAL* Life! And we will *NEVER* perish. I hope you can let this truth sink into your mind and give you comfort. Once you're born again of the Holy Spirit of God, you *cannot be lost!* That's a *GOOD* thing! :) John 5:24 -- _"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath _*_EVERLASTING Life,_*_ and _*_shall not_*_ come into condemnation; but _*_is_*_ passed from death _*_unto Life."_* Jesus says we *have* (present tense) *everlasting* Life and shall not be condemned, ever, but passed from death to Life. That means it's impossible to lose Life / Salvation. :) John 6:39-40 -- _"And this is the Will of Him Who sent Me, that I shall lose NONE of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For it is My Father’s Will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him _*_shall_*_ have eternal Life, and I Will raise him up at the last day.”_ Jesus is speaking about all those who are *born again* of the Holy Spirit of God - it's *they* who are the ones *given to Him* and *they* shall *NEVER* be lost! They shall *NEVER PERISH!* I'll take the words of Jesus! :) 1 John 5:4 -- _"For everyone who has been _*_born_*_ of God _*_overcomes the world._*_ And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith."_ John writes that all who are born of God *overcome* the world. Notice he does not write "most" who are born of God overcome the world? It's *ALL* who are born of God, of His Holy Spirit, they overcome the world because we're born of the incorruptible Holy Spirit Seed of God that Lives forever and is 100% sinless / perfect / blameless, no matter what the flesh stumbles into here or there; the flesh shall pass away, but the Holy Heart shall Live forever, no matter what. Once Saved (in our Heart), Always Saved (in our Heart). The flesh is not the new Heart. People need to stop mixing the two up. 1 John 5:11 -- _"And this is the testimony, that God _*_gave us ETERNAL Life,_*_ and this Life is in His Son."_ 1 John 5:13 -- _"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life."_ 1 John 3:9 -- _"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His Seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."_ So John is writing about that incorruptible Seed of God, as Peter also wrote about in 1 Peter 1:23. Now the wording seems a bit weird because we are used to saying that "we sin" all the time, right? But John is not talking about the flesh sinning. John means the Holy Spirit *HEART* within us, our *HEART* cannot sin, thus our heart can never be lost! Our flesh is already corrupted (has sin in it) and will fall away one day, but our flesh is not who we now are (in our Heart). Our flesh is not our identity anymore! We (our Hearts) are now born of Gods Holy Spirit and identify as Children of God, without sin forever! :) Once His Child, always His Child! :) John backs up the fact that we currently have *ETERNAL Life!* Eternal is forever. Eternal --> forever --> outside of time. That means there's no time to ever be lost! The moment we're born of the Holy Spirit of God in eternity, we're 100% safe forever. *Once Saved, Eternally Saved, indeed!* All of the verses people try to use to supposedly disprove OSAS are *always* taken out of context. Then they try to say we're supposedly looking for some "green light" to sin. This is so far from the truth! We're born of the Holy Spirit of God, our Hearts desire is to *NOT* sin. The flesh might stumble here or there but it's not like we seek to *practice* sin. It's literally impossible for a Child of God to practice sin, for our Heart within is Perfect now. There's a difference between [the flesh] stumbling here or there, as compared to the heart *practicing* sin. This is a concept they do not understand when they claim we're supposedly looking for some "green light" to sin. Their beliefs can lead them down the dangerous road of legalism, thinking that it's apart of their supposed will and works that also keep them saved, which is not good at all. The pharisees were self-righteous legalists, thinking it was by their works God supposedly looked upon them favorably. We're *saved* by grace and therefore *kept* by grace as well. It's not "saved by grace but kept by the power of our will." *"Not by power, nor by might, but by My Spirit,"* saith the LORD! :)

Interesting. :P One can only be born again when they *humbly* accept the *free* gift of God and then become born again, for we truly are saved by grace, not by works, just as Paul wrote. That means we're also kept by grace, not by works, forever. Our focus should be on intimacy with Jesus, and if you're born again of the Holy Spirit of God, *He* will work through you to perform *His* good pleasure and, most of the time, this is done subtly. Good works are performed, yes, but it is Jesus within us Who does the work, not us who puts pressure on ourselves to work out of fear, or for some type of 'rewards' in the future. We should already know that Jesus Himself is the Reward. :) Jesus said that Mary chose correctly, whereas Martha chose unwisely. But, one might say (if they didn't know better): "Martha was working so hard to do good for others! How is that wrong? Shouldn't *good works* be the sign of a good disciple?" Martha was so busy focusing on works, she missed the precious words, rest and love of Christ Jesus, God in flesh, right when He was sitting in their midst. The legalist' works mentality will blind them from experiencing the love of Jesus in their life. It'll keep them so busy, they'll not make time to *REST* in Jesus: simply be still and *know* Him.

He is also a Calvinist, and doesn’t believe Jesus died for everyone, and the people going to hell don’t have a choice, their sole purpose in life is to burn in hell, that’s sad theology.
Lordship salvation in a nutshell: Front-loading the gospel by adding requirements other than faith to be saved and back-loading the gospel for believers in encouraging introspective "fruit" inspection to ensure ones salvation by anything other than faith. The 1st one is an attack on faith alone doctrine and the free grace purchased by the Cross and the 2nd one is an attack on eternal security for the believer.
My Christian journey began with the MacArthur Study Bible, grace to you radio and renewing your mind radio with RC Sproul. I was always questioning my salvation and had no understanding of the gospel of grace found in 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 2:8-9, eternal security or dispenstionalism. I'm so grateful that God rescued me out of so many false teachings. I'm always encouraged and edified by your teachings Pastor Woods. Keep up the great work brother!

Romans 4:5. It is faith apart from works. Then they say, faith is a gift. Romans 6:23 says eternal life is the gift that Jesus paid for with His own one blood sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. First John 2:2. Romans 1:16. John MacArthur as a Calvinist is a confused theologian who consistently contradicts himself since a liar needs a great memory recall to be consistent in his viewpoints. Sadly, his dogmatic position on perseverance of the saints may indicate he’s not even saved at all.

So clarifying! Having spent years in Reformed Bible churches pastored by graduates of The Master's Seminary, this presentation resolves nagging half-formulated questions. (Actually I was introduced to a helpfully similar perspective by going through the homespun videos of the Oklahoma TV Bible teacher Les Feldick. He strongly emphasizes the fact that Paul's epistles were written as an unveiling of mysteries previously withheld and specifically for the Church Age.)

One who preaches salvation by faithfulness rather than faith alone, denies the saving efficacy of the actual Blood of Jesus and says you can take the mark of the Beast and still be saved, is not a great Bible teacher. They are causing divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine we have learned and are to be marked and avoided.

Pastor Andy, I recently viewed your presentation on the inconsistencies of preterism and the merits of futurism. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a premillennial futurist myself and lately I've been struggling with systematizing my eschatological beliefs. My belief in futurism - and, by extension, my faith in Christ - has been strengthened tenfold after seeing your presentation. Glory to God! Hallelujah! That said, however, I disagree with you on free grace theology. I'm a Molinist Arminian in areas of soteriology, but I'm an advocate of the doctrine of lordship salvation. As I understand it, the core aspect of lordship salvation is that a believer must confess Jesus Christ as their Savior _and_ Lord. It's not that good works _must_ manifest in order for a believer to be saved or to maintain their salvation (that would be a works-based salvific system, which the Scripture doesn't teach), it's that, if a believer _truly_ has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the believer will naturally and inevitably perform good works. Of course, this doesn't discount the possibility of the existence of a backslidden believer. Backslidden believers will still have salvation, but they won't have many crowns to throw at Jesus's feet in Heaven. Moreover, I also disagree with you on dispensationalism. I'm not a dispensationalist, although I was raised in a dispensationalist environment, so I have respect for it. I'm an adherent of olive tree theology (which teaches that the New Testament Church has been grafted in to Old Testament Israel; it can be considered a "middle ground" between classical dispensationalism and covenant theology), but I see value in dispensationalism's understanding of the seven dispensations. Even though I'm not a dispensationalist myself, it's nice to hear scholarly support for it. In the last few years, there has been a vocal hostility toward dispensationalism, especially from the Reformed (Calvinist, historicist, supersessionist, amillennialist) community. There's a complete lack of charity when it comes to dispensationalism and its proponents. The constant negativity is draining.
It is interesting (in a bad way) how macarthur claims everything is soteriological, yet I heard him say, when discussing those who are decreed for hell, that God's choice on who He sends to hell is "driven by His Glory". Like a good Calvinist when pressed he punted to a doxological explanation. This reminds me how calvinists often punt to mystery. This is bc they start with a doctrine and have to shoe horn it in somewhere.
This subject can be simply summarized accordingly:we are gentiles, we are on the dispensation of grace ,Paul is our apostle .If you want to be flawless in your theology, then follow paul and his epistles PERIOD, you don't need a seminary degree to discern that
I was fooled by MacArthur's 'confidence' in preaching from the Bible, until I realized that it was 'pride & arrogance'! I never knew what Calvinism was until I decided to study it for myself. I now listen to the Holy Spirit when reading and discerning what the Word says instead of men. John 16:13 & 1 John 2:27 have been my guide through my walk with Jesus. Reformers are heretics that must confronted at every turn because they are teaching doctrines of demons by telling the lost and passive Christians (like I was) that GOD DOES NOT LOVE EVERYONE!!!!!
In all this "hero worship" of the open/closed churches, I cannot count how many have compared that man to the Apostle Paul...and every time I want to cry. "JMac" is a "hero" being open 3 weeks. What about Pastors (also in CA) who never closed their churches? Or opened them at Pentecost? Yet who is making the talk show circuit? What's Jesus say again about "being loved by the world"?
For many years I watched (and still do) an old country bible teacher named Les Feldick, and the Bible opened up to me as it never did before. Only since discovering your wonderful ministry have I been able to understand the actual theology behind those teachings. Dispensationalism has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion due to the fact that very few people have been taught this way. Most people believe in kingdom now theology and you can't tell them any different. I cringe whenever I hear pastors teaching that way and are leading so many astray. I actually had a Pastor tell me once that the term 'dispensation ' is a two hundred year old term that isn't even in the bible. I really believe that many pastors don't read nor acknowledge the writings of Paul. How else could you make a statement like that?! Please keep up the great work and never forget that there are people who desperately need to hear the truth, and who need encouragement that we're not crazy. Thanks guys, so much.
Amen. I also have learned so much from Les Feldick. He helped clear up a lot of confusing questions with which I struggled. Some of the confusion comes from not carefully reading the Bible. He finished well.

Your comment at 14:10 - Funny, I was a trained, dyed-in-the-wool dispensationalist until I realized I had to apply an inconsistent hermeneutic to the contexts of the passages concerning the rapture. I had to interpret and understand the passages concerning the coming of the Lord differently than the process of interpreting and understanding the rest of Scripture. Don’t make your dispensationalism the metric by which you interpret Scripture. (That produces eisegesis.)

I'm up to 6:52. This has been a point of mystery for me that I thought I had kind of settled. There seems a disconnect between verses like John 3:16 and books like James and 1 John, what show your faith by your works (the works don't save but show that you are saved). I'd settled it as a parallel truth, like one God who is 3, and like faith is a gift of God, yet we are to blame if we lack faith. Oh, and like God chooses us, but we are to choose God.

I would recommend reading The Gospel According to Jesus before judging John Macarthur’s view of salvation. Works will be the fruit of salvation. If someone doesn’t show fruit or hasn’t changed, you have to question whether they are truly saved. Following Jesus requires obedience, he is our Lord and Master when we are saved. We will sin and fall short at times requiring repentance because we are human with a sin nature. There is the constant battle between our flesh and the spirit.
One of the main problems here is “you have to question whether they are truly saved”. The fact is you don’t. It’s not your place to judge salvation, period. Your place is to love God and Love others. Profess and believe on Jesus and you shall be saved. I don’t think God forgot to include “ and show appropriate amount of change”.
KS, I agree, it only took one sin to separate us from our Creator. He is perfectly holy, righteous and just. Thankfully, He provides grace, love and mercy also for those who trust in Jesus.

What they failed to mention was in Mt 21.43 where Jesus took the kingdom from Israel and gave it to the church of which Paul consistently preached counting the kingdom as salvation and rebirth as the first step.
John 3:36 does say obey Christ to be saved. It says this numerous times. Thoughts? This is a response in the beginning of the video when you said you don't need to change.
Thank you. There are so, so many verses that [seem to] put clauses alongside "just believe." Those who call "Lord, Lord," in heaven surely believed in him - they did things in his name, yet they were evildoers. "If you love me, you will obey me." The whole books of 1 John and James come to mind, because I freshly read them, and they're all about "You are true followers if you believe AND obey (love, forgive, give, help, etc, etc, etc)."
So what about those who believe and never repent of their sin and see no problem with carrying on the their homosexual lifestyle? Saved or unsaved? When we are saved we have the Holy Spirit indwelling and He convicts us of sin. If we never repent then did we truly believe? Were we truly saved?
My sister really looks up to John MacArthur and uses his Study Bible on a regular basis. Thankfully she doesn't fully agree with everything he says, particularly when it comes to restrictions on women (she's a libber). I have been vacillating for months as to whether buy his NASB Study Bible for myself, but I haven't been able to "get into" his teachings from his pulpit. I know there is no one man with all of the right answers. But I honestly have been hearing more reasons to save my money and instead take my time and research a different Study and Reference Bible. Just want to check myself - if the Jews accepted Jesus as their king then, there would never have been a rapture or a tribulation? Straight ahead to the Kingdom?! If they accepted Jesus and the Kingdom arrived, would it have been for the whole world to enjoy or only for Israel? I watched this for the second time now and these questions didn't appear the first time. (Maybe it was too late the first time or that English isn't my native language?)
MacArthur- conveniently holds to pre-trib rapture doctrine because if he doesn't, his hungry congregation will leave by the droves seeking this truth, thus annihilating his church's growth and income.
Andy: At the 20 minute mark did you say in your reading of Wilkins statements on MacArthur that "the father is Jesus and that's debatable"? Maybe this was just an off the cuff remark, but I find it strange that you would say this is debatable, given your knowledge of the trinity and explicit scripture passages that quell any points of contentions that assert that God the Father is Jesus.
I'm really disappointed with you and this video. I've read The Gospel According To Jesus and you are picking it apart and out of context. I wonder if you've even read the book you are critiquing. I do know you are coming at it with a definite bias. I'm making my way through the video, trying to be open to learning something new if I've been mislead, and I was also trying to dismiss my suspicion that they would not represent McAurthur's belief's properly. It must be very hard for us to be balanced if we're already strongly convinced one way or the other. I haven’t watched the video yet but I am currently reading the Gospel according to Jesus. The book is very good. For true salvation, Jesus must be Savior and Lord. Minus the Lord, I think salvation is in question or not truly there.
Works are the fruit of salvation. Salvation is by faith alone in the finished work of Christ. However, a true believer will be changed. We see that throughout scripture. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin. We will never be perfect but we should want to live and Serve the Lord. When we turn to Christ, we turn from sin. Paul is a prime example, after his experience he no longer persecuted Christians.
McCarthy may be popular in this world but I wonder what the Lord will say to him when judgement comes? He might say leave me for I never knew you. Sounds like he's adding to and taking away from God's word. A big no no

Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,” 1 Corinthians 6:9 KJV And this one? “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21 KJV He mentioned the kingdom of God, and this is the grace age - he’s talking to the people of the church age. A little confused here. Help!

No one in Heaven will be able to say “I’m here because I did x, y and z”. He will get all the glory. The torturous price He paid was for the debt I owed. No greater love nor gift. We are His sons, and as sons, we want to please our Father through LOVE! Thank you Loving Heavenly Father.

We're born of Gods Seed, which cannot be corrupted (thus cannot fall)!
1 Peter 1:23 -- _"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which Liveth and abideth for ever."_
If we (our new Heart) are Born of an Incorruptible Seed of God, how can it be corrupted? It cannot be corrupted, thus cannot be lost. It's impossible to be lost after being Born of Gods Seed. The flesh is not the New Heart. That's where many people mix things up and make a huge mistake on this issue.
Paul wrote that we (who're born again) are *sealed* until the day of redemption:
Ephesians 4:30 -- _"And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are _*_sealed_*_ unto the day of redemption."_
Notice how Paul *did not* write "...sealed until you turn away," or "...sealed until you screw up," or "...sealed until you sin too much," ? :)
*Ephesians **1:10**-13* -- _"That in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him: In Whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him Who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ. In Whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,"_
Paul acknowledges the *DISPENSATION* there, and that we're already *PREDESTINED* (as in, all who are born again of the Holy Spirit of God now *were known by God to be His possessions* in eternity, before He even created the world!). Notice how Paul writes to the Ephesians that they were *SEALED* with the Holy Spirit more than once, yet Paul did not write that to the Hebrews? Clearly, two different groups here: one born again, the other not. And those who are not born again can truly fall, as they're not sealed by Gods Holy Spirit! They're not predestined to inherit the Kingdom of God!
Colossians 3:3 -- _"For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."_
Paul is saying our old flesh is dead (no threat to us anymore, it died on the cross with Jesus) and now our Life is hidden with Christ in God! Nothing can touch us (our new Heart) now! :)
No losing salvation; no falling now:
Jude 1:24 -- _"Now unto _*_Him that is able to KEEP YOU FROM FALLING,_*_ and to _*_present you FAULTLESS_*_ before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,"_
It is *JESUS* Who keeps us from falling and always (eternally) presents us faultless, for we are now *Born* of His own Holy Spirit! We're now saved in Eternity (outside of time). We're Spiritually One with God Almighty. To say we can fall would do a huge disservice to Who God is and His Power.
John 10:27-30 -- _"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And _*_I give unto them ETERNAL Life; and they shall NEVER perish,_*_ neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand."_
Clearly, Jesus spoke of His "sheep" as those who are Born again of the Holy Spirit of God. Again, He spoke in the present tense for us having *ETERNAL* Life! And we will *NEVER* perish. I hope you can let this truth sink into your mind and give you comfort. Once you're born again of the Holy Spirit of God, you *cannot be lost!* That's a *GOOD* thing! :)
John 5:24 -- _"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath _*_EVERLASTING Life,_*_ and _*_shall not_*_ come into condemnation; but _*_is_*_ passed from death _*_unto Life."_*
Jesus says we *have* (present tense) *everlasting* Life and shall not be condemned, ever, but passed from death to Life. That means it's impossible to lose Life / Salvation. :)
John 6:39-40 -- _"And this is the Will of Him Who sent Me, that I shall lose NONE of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For it is My Father’s Will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him _*_shall_*_ have eternal Life, and I Will raise him up at the last day.”_
Jesus is speaking about all those who are *born again* of the Holy Spirit of God - it's *they* who are the ones *given to Him* and *they* shall *NEVER* be lost! They shall *NEVER PERISH!* I'll take the words of Jesus! :)
1 John 5:4 -- _"For everyone who has been _*_born_*_ of God _*_overcomes the world._*_ And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith."_
John writes that all who are born of God *overcome* the world. Notice he does not write "most" who are born of God overcome the world? It's *ALL* who are born of God, of His Holy Spirit, they overcome the world because we're born of the incorruptible Holy Spirit Seed of God that Lives forever and is 100% sinless / perfect / blameless, no matter what the flesh stumbles into here or there; the flesh shall pass away, but the Holy Heart shall Live forever, no matter what. Once Saved (in our Heart), Always Saved (in our Heart). The flesh is not the new Heart. People need to stop mixing the two up.
1 John 5:11 -- _"And this is the testimony, that God _*_gave us ETERNAL Life,_*_ and this Life is in His Son."_
1 John 5:13 -- _"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life."_
1 John 3:9 -- _"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His Seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."_
So John is writing about that incorruptible Seed of God, as Peter also wrote about in 1 Peter 1:23. Now the wording seems a bit weird because we are used to saying that "we sin" all the time, right? But John is not talking about the flesh sinning. John means the Holy Spirit *HEART* within us, our *HEART* cannot sin, thus our heart can never be lost! Our flesh is already corrupted (has sin in it) and will fall away one day, but our flesh is not who we now are (in our Heart). Our flesh is not our identity anymore! We (our Hearts) are now born of Gods Holy Spirit and identify as Children of God, without sin forever! :) Once His Child, always His Child! :)
John backs up the fact that we currently have *ETERNAL Life!* Eternal is forever. Eternal --> forever --> outside of time. That means there's no time to ever be lost! The moment we're born of the Holy Spirit of God in eternity, we're 100% safe forever. *Once Saved, Eternally Saved, indeed!*
All of the verses people try to use to supposedly disprove OSAS are *always* taken out of context.
Then they try to say we're supposedly looking for some "green light" to sin. This is so far from the truth! We're born of the Holy Spirit of God, our Hearts desire is to *NOT* sin. The flesh might stumble here or there but it's not like we seek to *practice* sin. It's literally impossible for a Child of God to practice sin, for our Heart within is Perfect now. There's a difference between [the flesh] stumbling here or there, as compared to the heart *practicing* sin. This is a concept they do not understand when they claim we're supposedly looking for some "green light" to sin. Their beliefs can lead them down the dangerous road of legalism, thinking that it's apart of their supposed will and works that also keep them saved, which is not good at all. The pharisees were self-righteous legalists, thinking it was by their works God supposedly looked upon them favorably.
We're *saved* by grace and therefore *kept* by grace as well. It's not "saved by grace but kept by the power of our will."
*"Not by power, nor by might, but by My Spirit,"* saith the LORD! :)

One can only be born again when they *humbly* accept the *free* gift of God and then become born again, for we truly are saved by grace, not by works, just as Paul wrote. That means we're also kept by grace, not by works, forever. Our focus should be on intimacy with Jesus, and if you're born again of the Holy Spirit of God, *He* will work through you to perform *His* good pleasure and, most of the time, this is done subtly. Good works are performed, yes, but it is Jesus within us Who does the work, not us who puts pressure on ourselves to work out of fear, or for some type of 'rewards' in the future. We should already know that Jesus Himself is the Reward. :) Jesus said that Mary chose correctly, whereas Martha chose unwisely. But, one might say (if they didn't know better): "Martha was working so hard to do good for others! How is that wrong? Shouldn't *good works* be the sign of a good disciple?"
Martha was so busy focusing on works, she missed the precious words, rest and love of Christ Jesus, God in flesh, right when He was sitting in their midst. The legalist' works mentality will blind them from experiencing the love of Jesus in their life. It'll keep them so busy, they'll not make time to *REST* in Jesus: simply be still and *know* Him.

Lordship salvation in a nutshell: Front-loading the gospel by adding requirements other than faith to be saved and back-loading the gospel for believers in encouraging introspective "fruit" inspection to ensure ones salvation by anything other than faith. The 1st one is an attack on faith alone doctrine and the free grace purchased by the Cross and the 2nd one is an attack on eternal security for the believer.
My Christian journey began with the MacArthur Study Bible, grace to you radio and renewing your mind radio with RC Sproul. I was always questioning my salvation and had no understanding of the gospel of grace found in 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 2:8-9, eternal security or dispenstionalism. I am 81 years old, and was led to the savior by my mother when I was 5 years old. John MacArthur as a Calvinist is a confused theologian who consistently contradicts himself since a liar needs a great memory recall to be consistent in his viewpoints. Sadly, his dogmatic position on perseverance of the saints may indicate he’s not even saved at all.

(Actually I was introduced to a helpfully similar perspective by going through the homespun videos of the Oklahoma TV Bible teacher Les Feldick. He strongly emphasizes the fact that Paul's epistles were written as an unveiling of mysteries previously withheld and specifically for the Church Age.)

They are quoting directly and at length from John McArthur's own writings. This is no distortion but the stark reality. One who preaches salvation by faithfulness rather than faith alone, denies the saving efficacy of the actual Blood of Jesus and says you can take the mark of the Beast and still be saved, is not a great Bible teacher. They are causing divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine we have learned and are to be marked and avoided.

Pastor Andy, I recently viewed your presentation on the inconsistencies of preterism and the merits of futurism. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a premillennial futurist myself and lately I've been struggling with systematizing my eschatological beliefs. My belief in futurism - and, by extension, my faith in Christ - has been strengthened tenfold after seeing your presentation. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
That said, however, I disagree with you on free grace theology. I'm a Molinist Arminian in areas of soteriology, but I'm an advocate of the doctrine of lordship salvation. As I understand it, the core aspect of lordship salvation is that a believer must confess Jesus Christ as their Savior _and_ Lord. It's not that good works _must_ manifest in order for a believer to be saved or to maintain their salvation (that would be a works-based salvific system, which the Scripture doesn't teach), it's that, if a believer _truly_ has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the believer will naturally and inevitably perform good works. Of course, this doesn't discount the possibility of the existence of a backslidden believer. Backslidden believers will still have salvation, but they won't have many crowns to throw at Jesus's feet in Heaven.
Moreover, I also disagree with you on dispensationalism. I'm not a dispensationalist, although I was raised in a dispensationalist environment, so I have respect for it. I'm an adherent of olive tree theology (which teaches that the New Testament Church has been grafted in to Old Testament Israel; it can be considered a "middle ground" between classical dispensationalism and covenant theology), but I see value in dispensationalism's understanding of the seven dispensations. Even though I'm not a dispensationalist myself, it's nice to hear scholarly support for it. In the last few years, there has been a vocal hostility toward dispensationalism, especially from the Reformed (Calvinist, historicist, supersessionist, amillennialist) community. There's a complete lack of charity when it comes to dispensationalism and its proponents. The constant negativity is draining.
It is interesting (in a bad way) how macarthur claims everything is soteriological, yet I heard him say, when discussing those who are decreed for hell, that God's choice on who He sends to hell is "driven by His Glory".
Like a good Calvinist when pressed he punted to a doxological explanation.
This reminds me how calvinists often punt to mystery.

I was fooled by MacArthur's 'confidence' in preaching from the Bible, until I realized that it was 'pride & arrogance'! I never knew what Calvinism was until I decided to study it for myself. I now listen to the Holy Spirit when reading and discerning what the Word says instead of men. John 16:13 & 1 John 2:27 have been my guide through my walk with Jesus. Reformers are heretics that must confronted at every turn because they are teaching doctrines of demons by telling the lost and passive Christians (like I was) that GOD DOES NOT LOVE EVERYONE!!!!!

In all this "hero worship" of the open/closed churches, I cannot count how many have compared that man to the Apostle Paul...and every time I want to cry. "JMac" is a "hero" being open 3 weeks. What about Pastors (also in CA) who never closed their churches? Or opened them at Pentecost? Yet who is making the talk show circuit? What's Jesus say again about "being loved by the world"?
For many years I watched (and still do) an old country bible teacher named Les Feldick, and the Bible opened up to me as it never did before. Only since discovering your wonderful ministry have I been able to understand the actual theology behind those teachings. Dispensationalism has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion due to the fact that very few people have been taught this way. Most people believe in kingdom now theology and you can't tell them any different. I cringe whenever I hear pastors teaching that way and are leading so many astray. I actually had a Pastor tell me once that the term 'dispensation ' is a two hundred year old term that isn't even in the bible. I really believe that many pastors don't read nor acknowledge the writings of Paul. How else could you make a statement like that?! Please keep up the great work and never forget that there are people who desperately need to hear the truth, and who need encouragement that we're not crazy. Thanks guys, so much.

Your comment at 14:10 - Funny, I was a trained, dyed-in-the-wool dispensationalist until I realized I had to apply an inconsistent hermeneutic to the contexts of the passages concerning the rapture. I had to interpret and understand the passages concerning the coming of the Lord differently than the process of interpreting and understanding the rest of Scripture.
Don’t make your dispensationalism the metric by which you interpret Scripture. (That produces eisegesis.)
This has helped me greatly but I still do not understand what the Gospel of the kingdom is/was. I understand the personal but not the kingdom. Please help
Poppy Ozark If first century Israel’s had embraced Christ the millennial kingdom would’ve come to the earth and Rome would’ve been toppled and Israel would’ve been elevated over the nations.

I'm up to 6:52. This has been a point of mystery for me that I thought I had kind of settled. There seems a disconnect between verses like John 3:16 and books like James and 1 John, what show your faith by your works (the works don't save but show that you are saved). I'd settled it as a parallel truth, like one God who is 3, and like faith is a gift of God, yet we are to blame if we lack faith. Oh, and like God chooses us, but we are to choose God.
Lordship salvationists are teaching another gospel, a false one. Stay away from them!

After listening to your vid, I do wonder how to explain these 3 verses on repentance fits in: Acts 17:30 “… he commands all people everywhere to repent…”, Acts 20:21 “…Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.”, and Acts 26:20 “Gentiles… repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.” Stay blessed you two and thank you for blessing so many of us!!

I would recommend reading The Gospel According to Jesus before judging John Macarthur’s view of salvation. Works will be the fruit of salvation. If someone doesn’t show fruit or hasn’t changed, you have to question whether they are truly saved. Following Jesus requires obedience, he is our Lord and Master when we are saved. We will sin and fall short at times requiring repentance because we are human with a sin nature. There is the constant battle between our flesh and the spirit.
One of the main problems here is “you have to question whether they are truly saved”. The fact is you don’t. It’s not your place to judge salvation, period. Your place is to love God and Love others. Profess and believe on Jesus and you shall be saved. I don’t think God forgot to include “ and show appropriate amount of change”.
You don’t think sanctification or growing in holiness will take place if someone is saved?
How much sin is too much sin? One sin is too much.
KS, I agree, it only took one sin to separate us from our Creator. He is perfectly holy, righteous and just. Thankfully, He provides grace, love and mercy also for those who trust in Jesus.

Amen, great job brothers! Great video exposing John McArthur's leaky dispensationalism. He doesn't deserve the title of a dispensationalist, since he attacks traditional dispensationalism. The man is very confused and doesn't understand basics of dispensationalism.
Thanks gentlemen. One question I still have is what kingdom was Jesus referring to when He said that this gospel of the kingdom will first be preached to all nations and then the end will come? Was He referring to a message about the Millennial kingdom that would first be preached? Which kingdom did He mean?

What they failed to mention was in Mt 21.43 where Jesus took the kingdom from Israel and gave it to the church of which Paul consistently preached counting the kingdom as salvation and rebirth as the first step.
John 3:36 does say obey Christ to be saved. It says this numerous times. Thoughts? This is a response in the beginning of the video when you said you don't need to change.
Thank you. There are so, so many verses that [seem to] put clauses alongside "just believe." Those who call "Lord, Lord," in heaven surely believed in him - they did things in his name, yet they were evildoers. "If you love me, you will obey me." The whole books of 1 John and James come to mind, because I freshly read them, and they're all about "You are true followers if you believe AND obey (love, forgive, give, help, etc, etc, etc)."

So what about those who believe and never repent of their sin and see no problem with carrying on the their homosexual lifestyle? Saved or unsaved? When we are saved we have the Holy Spirit indwelling and He convicts us of sin. If we never repent then did we truly believe? Were we truly saved?
My sister really looks up to John MacArthur and uses his Study Bible on a regular basis. Thankfully she doesn't fully agree with everything he says, particularly when it comes to restrictions on women (she's a libber). I have been vacillating for months as to whether buy his NASB Study Bible for myself, but I haven't been able to "get into" his teachings from his pulpit. I know there is no one man with all of the right answers. But I honestly have been hearing more reasons to save my money and instead take my time and research a different Study and Reference Bible. Just want to check myself - if the Jews accepted Jesus as their king then, there would never have been a rapture or a tribulation? Straight ahead to the Kingdom?! If they accepted Jesus and the Kingdom arrived, would it have been for the whole world to enjoy or only for Israel?

MacArthur- conveniently holds to pre-trib rapture doctrine because if he doesn't, his hungry congregation will leave by the droves seeking this truth, thus annihilating his church's growth and income.
Andy: At the 20 minute mark did you say in your reading of Wilkins statements on MacArthur that "the father is Jesus and that's debatable"? Maybe this was just an off the cuff remark, but I find it strange that you would say this is debatable, given your knowledge of the trinity and explicit scripture passages that quell any points of contentions that assert that God the Father is Jesus.
He was not saying Jesus is the Father as in God the Father, rather the father in the parable representing Jesus as being debatable.

I'm really disappointed with you and this video. I've read The Gospel According To Jesus and you are picking it apart and out of context. I wonder if you've even read the book you are critiquing. I do know you are coming at it with a definite bias. Why don't you call up McArthur and ask him directly what he believes rather than belittle and mock him through others who you quote then add your biting commentary on what you assume McArthur believes?
Ah. I'm making my way through the video, trying to be open to learning something new if I've been mislead, and I was also trying to dismiss my suspicion that they would not represent McAurthur's belief's properly. It must be very hard for us to be balanced if we're already strongly convinced one way or the other. The fact I just read a woman above saying that J.Mac has "no doubt has fallen away and is walking in his own lusts, HE IS responsible for ALL that he draws away from the truth."

I haven’t watched the video yet but I am currently reading the Gospel according to Jesus. The book is very good. For true salvation, Jesus must be Savior and Lord. Minus the Lord, I think salvation is in question or not truly there.

Works are the fruit of salvation. Salvation is by faith alone in the finished work of Christ. However, a true believer will be changed. We see that throughout scripture. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin. We will never be perfect but we should want to live and Serve the Lord. When we turn to Christ, we turn from sin. Paul is a prime example, after his experience he no longer persecuted Christians.

He mentioned the kingdom of God, and this is the grace age - he’s talking to the people of the church age. A little confused here. Help!
